I'm part of the Cinemark Club and bought tickets online so scanning at the podium was easy. The not so great: Theater in disrepair. This has to be an old theater as the seats were not recliners. Rows were very close together and not much leg room. The sound in the theater was WAY too loud. I know it's the experience but even my husband said it was loud. The 3D glasses were too big for me and hurt my ears. For the price of movie tickets these days... you'd think they could spruce up the theater.

Alamo if you want us to keep using your app don't force me to deal with these rude people. I miss the young people who were excited to be working there & excited you were there. Are you aware the kids running there buts off have to split out their tips with everyone? I understand the bar tender & kitchen staff but what are the old people behind the register doing but barking at people and ruining their night out. I don't want the tip money going to people like that, especially since they aren't earning it.

Service has always been good and the food I've had in the past has been solid. My most recent visit was this past Saturday. We arrived about thirty minutes early like they recommend. One thing I really enjoy here is the pre-show. They play old trailers and clips, sometimes in their original languages, and it adds a real nostalgia factor for film nerds like me. We had already eaten lunch before the movie so we didn't order any full meals, but their popcorn is excellent. The real butter makes a difference. Ordering was simple through the phone system at the table. For refills or additional items, you fill out the little paper cards and the servers quietly grab them during the movie. Everything came out quickly and the staff stayed friendly and efficient the whole time. The place is always clean and well taken care of. The staff seem to always be in good spirits, which really adds to the overall experience. The seats are the more traditional movie theater style, so if you're used to the newer reclining seats that many theaters have now, that might take a little adjustment. Overall it's a great and unique movie experience. It's also nice not being packed into a loud theater. I really appreciate their strict no-talking and no-cell-phone policy too. It makes it much easier to actually enjoy the film.

Here's what is really wrong with it: It is dirty and gross and the staff are disgusting, piggish, immature boys. I have no clue why the management hired or does not fire these kids (some of whom are not kids) but they should. They shout obscenities, flirt with female customers - they just add to the layer of grime there. Everything the other reviewer, Johnnie E, reports is accurate and I second her complaints. Someone was murdered here last year over some stupid verbal insult and so now they have 3 cops on the weekends at all times and signs that say "No Gang Attire" In conclusion: Go there if you are a cheap skate who can handle bad service and dirt and possibly death.

Both the Starplex and the Century 16 offer pretty much the same movies, same ridiculously expensive concession, and comfy seats. The Starplex's tickets are cheaper. There tends to be a bit of a...ghetto atmosphere here---kids left uncontrolled, adults texting, talking and general rudeness. No one seems capable of taking their trash with them as well. The facility, despite all this, is newish and maintained. Screens are good sizes. I wish the two cinemas didn't carry the same movies, but choice and availability probably determine this. After all this, I suppose price and distance have to be your determining factor--it sure isn't who is playing what since their marquees are often identical. Corpus seems to be about ten years behind the curve when it comes to restaurants and entertainment. Based on availability, both cinemas are an oasis in a huge void.

I told the owner and the relative who seems to be assistant owner / manager, and they consoled me at first. The director didn't give me the space I asked before I decided to stay or not, when she made a decision for me. I continued to share my experience because I can't recommend this place to new comers, and still hadn't received an apology. Another director came into my messages trying to pathologized me for CRYING, and another person who runs the business went onto my Facebook posts and laughed at them. Very unprofessional. If you are not friends with the people in this community, do not bother trying to join it. Unfortunately since these are the same people who work at Harbor's Playhouse, I'm not sure it's any better. Btw, reading my update afterwards. I need to mention the miscommunication of the director led the person who helped me singing and complimented for the improvements I made to laugh at me in front of everyone. This could have been avoided with professionalism and better communication. Unfortunately things just got worse from there! Director messaging me until 2am. Another telling me to get help. None actually listening to the feedback I'm trying to provide. Sadly they want to guilt me over my honest opinion of a small business. Sorry, I'm not going to pretend to have had a better experience.
