As you can tell by the rating this is far from a positive review. I rented the party bus for my wife's 50th birthday and Carlos (mentioned by other reviewers) was the contact for my event. We had a pretty tight schedule and Carlos fell down again and again. First he was 30 minutes late for the pickup because he had another wine tour just before our trip and frankly did not plan his logistics well going from Newberg to Vancouver, WA Attitude goes a long way in these situations, and it was more about him than us..... #2 - we stopped to pick up another group and on the way to our first venue he ran out of GAS....yes....GAS. He claimed the fuel gauge didn't work and then got on the phone to his wife to potentially come and bring gas to him from Clackamas during rush hour traffic (no way that takes less than 45 mins to an hour in rush hour traffic, which it was) We were stranded on the highway in the median between the off ramp and I-5. Two of my guest volunteered to walk a 1/2 mile up the exit to a gas station and purchase gas...(Carlos did not) We gassed up and then went to the gas station to fill up. Now we have over an hour of delayed time, inconvenience, and frankly not a great experience for my guests. Again, attitude, apologies would have gone a long way, but it was more about Carlos and his day then our event. To end the story quickly, we sent Carlos on his way after 5 hours ( we had arranged for 4-5) and we took Ubers home. The next morning, I messaged Carlos to see what he was going to do to compensate us for the comedy of errors. He told me he did not charge me the mandatory tip ($100) or the optional tip $100 again and had given me a complimentary hour (which was the hour that he was late and the time we spent sitting on the side of the road) What would I be tipping for?. He had the audacity to tell me I was "making out" on the credit, and proceeded to charge my credit card for the full 4 hours again with very little or no apology. I suggested to him that that was not enough for the issues and that was not a way to run a business, he again told me essentially he had done enough. Had he offered a credit toward a future ride with his services, or been more apologetic to my guests and my wife we may have had a different outcome and this would have been a different review. He deserves the negative reviews, and I would avoid the company and the driver and go with other services. I hope that he and his business can learn from this, and understand what long term relationships can do to build a business, and how the immediate revenue means little when they don't have a long term view. read more

The wrong kind of bachelorette wet panties!! This review is for Carlo and any one trying to make a careful choice - these special events in which we rent limos don't come around often- one must choose carefully. Carlo (Rip City Limos owner and driver) doesn't understand the business he's really in and he doesn't understand what's actually best for his business - I predict he won't last. We rent limos and go to wine country on very special occasions. We want to feel special and experience luxury. Carlo is in the business of creating that experience for his patrons. Unfortunately, if its 100 degrees and your AC breaks you simply cannot provide that experience. If Carlo understood what he was really selling- that feeling of fanciness and lavishness - he would have been REALLY apologetic and did what he could to accommodate us. I have kind-spirited, optimistic friends and we tried to ignore the sweat running down every crevice and culminating most uncomfortably but it was tough. Not only did Carlo not apologize, or offer a discount but when we asked for one - or even to waive the Portland pick up fee- he had the audacity to say that wouldn't be in his best interest to cut us a break!! So all we could do is withhold our tips. That should be our right...right? Well, apparently that's not how Carlo operates - he then charged the card on file $180!!!!!!!!!!! ($20/pp) CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! Not ONLY that, but when my sister (card holder) called to see if there had been a mistake (I told you I kept good company) he defended himself and said why he believed he deserved the tip!! So she had to dispute the charge with the credit card company!! I was and am in awe that ANYONE thinks this is proper business. Maybe he went to Trump University!! Carlo- I get that you drive around all the time and get ladies drunk for $49 (your words, not mine) but this was a special day to me that I only get once- you didn't care about us. Yelp removed this originally - so I'm reposting it because this was very much my experience with the owner: TL; DR charged the party full price and then some for a broken limo hotbox ride and legal theft from the bank. Where do I begin? Our planner booked and paid the extra fee for pick up in North Portland for a wine tour on that 100 degree day that weekend in August, 2016. The morning of the event, Carlo, the owner called her to tell her that the A/C had burned out on one side of the limo and she could either cancel, take the party bus that was still being worked on or take the Escalade with no A/C. She chose the escalade on a gamble and he really just didn't give her any other choice. We roasted. The planner gave him the three wineries she wanted to visit for the party, Carlo got lost and had to turn around several times in the middle of the road. At one winery, some of the other guests took our picture and Carlo asked us to post them with the hashtag #ripcitylimos when he didn't even take the pic or offer to take the pic!! The final straw was that Carlo offered no discount, charged our party the full price to pick us up outside of the company radius, the full price of the limo ride, and ended up tacking an additional $180.00 tip to the original credit card that we withheld because he refused to discount the broken limo ride. When our planner called to give him the benefit of the doubt, Carlo only said, he had to do what's best for his business. She refuted the charge to her card, and the bank refunded her the $180 but its such small beans they won't go after him for it. I had mentioned to them all that if they would like to eat their snacks that they brought with them at a winery let me know and I will be glade to get everything for you and set it all up. They responded with really thanks. One of the wineries that they chosen was closed to the public. I suggested Argyle and they all agreed sure let's go. At this point we are already behind schedule. I agreed to give them an extra 1/2 hour so they can enjoy themselves without being rushed and that way they can eat their snacks at the winery. Everyone just took off and went into the winery. I went up to the Bookie and asked if they needed anything from the store as I was going across thel street I offered to get them ice or anything and they respectfully declined. I offered to get their snacks to eat at the last winery before I went to to store. I told them they had 25 minutes before we have to leave to make it to drop-off on time. 10 minutes before it was time to go I get a text saying they wanted me to bring in the food. (We don't allow food in our Limousines any more as others have ruined that opportunity). The bride to be came up to me and started threatening me with reviews in social media and telling me that I wasn't accommodating them enough and how the Limos is hot. I had compromised with them and said they may eat in the limo on our way to the drop off. They were very difficult getting them all in the limo to go. By this time we were going to be 45 min late. I tried everything I could to accommodate them from the first call to the drop off. We are about 9 miles away, 9.6 by Barbur. They changed their tune and said by the I5 it is 10.2 miles, so that's $90. Needless to say, they destroyed a chance at a B2B relationship before it even began by counting pennies, and we run a lot of events. read more

Potential party planners deserve to be warned. There's a fair share I could say about my experience with Rip City Limo and some in my party already have (although RCL removed because I was the party planner not them, which I had no idea they could do). To keep this succinct, I'll focus on the final straw that made me decide to post this negative review. I typically give negative reviews to people directly so they have an opportunity to turn it around before it's made public but I feel differently in this case due to ethics. After significant mishaps and poor customer service related to our day in the limo (some related to unfortunate timing and some down right poor business choices on the owner's part) members in our party reflected their satisfaction (or lack of) in the tipping process. After all, that's what tipping is for, right? Being the party planner, the owner had my card on file. Despite the fact that I had an invoice showing we had paid in full prior to our tour, the owner himself proceeded to make an unauthorized charge after our tour for $180. When I inquired about the charge, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, he explained he was unsatisfied with how we handled the tip and said that was what the charges for. Carlo (owner) told me he prides himself on being honest and ethical. We could debate all day about whether or not the service we received was right or fair but I simply don't see how you can ever call it ethical to take nearly $200 from someone unauthorized. Bought a Groupon and the owner said he would only honor two Groupons a day. The site says 40 sold. He claims he had two Groupons being used ON A SUNDAY 8/14/16 (I call BS) and couldn't afford to loose money. I said I read the fine print (see below for Groupon FINE PRINT) and it did not mention anything about a two Groupon a day limit. He then fell back on the Fine Print saying it says call first. The FINE PRINT says nothing about that. I understand not wanting to lose money, but I'm the customer so IF by chance the guy had two other customers using a groupon on a SUNDAY then he NEEDS to actually put it in the fine print. I found Rip City Limo's by google when our previous company was no longer an option. Going off of reviews, we reached out to Carlo the owner to get reserved. From the start Carlo was responsive, attentive, all around amazing. Day of, we were greeted 10 minutes early by Brandon, our driver. From the second he introduced himself, he was professional and enthusiastic! IT WAS AMAZING! He was attentive, joined in on conversation periodically throughout the day and really enjoyable. We have done a few wine tours to date and this is bar far one of the best we have done! Brandon made that possible! We will definitely be using Rip City again, and requesting Brandon as well. I found Rip City Limos through a groupon promotion, and they were a GREAT find! I reserved the 'batmobile' a few months ahead of time for a girls' day wine tasting tour in Hood River, and was very impressed with how the company works with its customers to make sure they get the experience they want. Day of our tour, our stretch was clean, spacious, and our driver was great! I would give this company zero stars if I could. I used them for my bachelorette and it was nothing but a disaster! Our limo started to fill with smoke so we had to get out on the side of the road and walk. Then they tried to "fix the limo" which took forever and attempted to drive us to our first winery. Horrible experience! They hired a new driver the night before, per conversation with the driver! I rented a bus on new years eve. I asked the time to be 12:30. The driver didn't come until 1:45am!!! This only happened after I found someone to give him directions downtown because he was on the wrong side of the bridge! It caused 6 people I mind you not to join in on the funds, ruined our night to go out as all the bars were closing! And that's not it! From being lost he was low on gas and had to atop at the gas station! And being new he didn't know how to work the music and took a half hour on the phone to call his boss and ask how!!!!!! Thirdly, mind you we were all drinking, the only thing we could do is complain and go to an ihop! He couldn't even do that because his whack gps couldn't get us to there and he took directions without the renters consent to drive halfway to Beaverton! I thought the whole time we were going to ihop, only to think we were lost! Only to find out we were only not getting food but we were 30+ minutes to our way back home. His driving caused 4 people to pull over and puke outside the bus for his speeding and sharp turning! We went home and our night was done! Horrible memories created from this business! I called the manager multiple times that weekend and never received a call back. I told him I was highly dissatisfied with the service and the professionalism of his employees and that it was extremely unprofessional and that he ruined my new years! There should be no reason we don't get a return call either seeing as your hours clearly state that you're open from 7-8pm and you called us back ASAP before you had our credit card numbers. SMH. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was polite and up front. I was in Portland from Hawaii for a birthday celebration. The staff, including driver were very professional and accommodating. The party bus was immaculately clean, and had all the hook ups for music etc. I even got an email from the owner after our ride to make sure everything was to my satisfaction!! They took my money and then left our whole party stranded downtown. I booked the limo for my birthday, we paid for service from 10pm to 3am. The driver, Brandon, who is also the owners son, showed up at my house at 10pm. He was very nice, he came inside and took Jell-O shots with everyone and then we all loaded up and headed downtown. On our way downtown, one of the passengers got sick, we cleaned up the mess and let the driver know what had happened. As soon as we got out of the limo at our first stop, the owner called me and said that he was terminating our contract and that he would not be refunding any of my money. I explained to him that We had called a cab for the passenger that was sick and that we were very sorry. We knew that there was a $350 fine for getting sick in the limo and that we were ok with that. I asked him to please not leave us stranded and he basically said, tough shit. I informed him that his driver was taking Jell-O shots and he accused me of lying because all 3 of his sons are in "recovery". We have photos of his son, the driver, taking Jell-O shots. Not only did Carlo, the owner, charge me for the whole 5 hours, he also charged my card for $120 the next day for a tip for his son Brandon. Then he lied on social media and started making up stories about people in our group "threatening" his son, which was news to me. I talked to Carlo on the phone several times and he never said anything like this to me! I called him and asked if we could please find a resolution that would work for both of us, I explained that I felt it was unfair that he charged me $1040 for a limo that I only had for 20 minutes... I asked him to refund half of my money and he said No. He basically said, he got my money and there was nothing I could do about it now. Then he sent me a text message and said that if I ever contacted him again he would press charges on me for harassment! ALSO, there were many personal items, like hundreds of dollars worth, in the limo that he is denying and refusing to return. DO NOT HIRE THIS LIMO COMPANY. THEY ARE LYING THEIFS. Where do I even begin with this piece of shit company? I saved and saved to give my son an amazing 10th birthday, which included a limo ride. The owner Carlo took my reservation and seemed perfectly nice during that call. But like magic, Carlo *poof* disappeared! He never returned another call or email. I left countless messages the week leading up to my son's party, with no response. Considering he had already charged my card for the ENTIRE amount 2 months before the party, I still held out hope he would just show up anyway...but since I'm not an idiot I called around the day before and luckily found an amazing limo company who had some availability later in the evening of the party day, should this Rip City asshole not show up. The amazing limo company didn't even require us to make an official reservation, he just promised he would help. (See my A+ review of HIS company under my account) But back to this horrible company... I obviously have filed a fraud report with my credit card company and will do what I can to spread the word that NO ONE should ever use this company. Dude really, really needs to find another line of work. This service is a very important part of many people's very special days (weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, proms) and the way he conducts business is horrible to do to people on these special days! When during the entire trip, Carlo the owner and driver, never mentioned anything was wrong. Not until after we were gone and he sent a very mean spirited, unprofessional, text stating we owed more money. I was fine paying the extra cleaning fee, but $700 over what we owed? We had a reservation and they just did not show up. Charges my friend and sent confirmation emails, but didn't show the day of the reservation. It was a friend's surprise party and the party bus didn't show so it completely ruined it. No email, no call, nothing to tell us that they weren't showing. I can't say enough good things about Rip City Limo! I was planning a bachelorette party in Portland from another city and wanted to do a wine tour. After the frustration of another company backing out on me, I had less than a week to schedule with another company and I am SO glad I found Rip City! They responded to me quickly, were able to schedule our group, got all of the winery reservations in place for us, and had a great price! Our driver, Brandon, was AWESOME! He was there early waiting for us, was very flexible with our desires for the tour (i.e. more time at one place than the others), and was a gentleman to all of us ladies with a great attitude!
