I visited during the week and it was extremely busy. Seems like a popular work from home spot. They also had tons of comfortable seating with a good amount of outdoor seats. The MIT bookstore is downstairs which is nice if you want to browse the books with your coffee. I ordered the brown sugar latte and thought it was really good. I can vibe with the vibes here. When you walk in, you're hit with moody tropical forest vibes, between the darker lighting and the greenery wall right when you enter. I'm here for it! A great little gathering spot near Ashmont Square. I got a hot pistachio matcha latte - it had a subtle nutty flavor without being too sweet or overpowering the earthy matcha flavor. I started going to Ripple back when it first opened, and it's been beautiful to watch it grow. The owners are Black millennials--innovative, community-oriented, and intentional--and you can feel that in the space. The vibe is always evolving: whether it's the greenery, the art, or the little design touches, it stays chic while still feeling cozy. For me, Ripple is more than just a café. Whenever I feel stuck and need silent inspiration, this is where I go. There's something powerful about being in a space cultivated by Black people who are paving their own way--it leaves me walking out with more than I came in with, every time. Food-wise, I love their veggie patties, and their Haitian limeade? Top tier. Never misses. I've tried the matcha (needs sweetening for my taste), and a few smoothie-like drinks that also weren't quite sweet enough for me, so I usually keep it simple with limeades or tea. Their bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches are good--I lean toward the croissant version. I also like the grilled cheese with bacon, though sometimes the edges of the bread come out a little too tough to chew. Note worth mentioning. I also appreciate that they experiment with menu items and give customers a chance to try new things--it keeps it interesting. And while service can vary (some staff are all warmth and energy, others more stoic and straight-to-the-point), it's never been a deal breaker for me. I actually like that Ripple gives people a shot to work and grow there. The fact that they've expanded into another location makes me happy--it's proof that their vision resonates. Really nice two young girls working on the counter making coffees and then one girl making sandwiches and stuff in the back. They were kind friendly understanding. Let us use the restroom even though it's only for employees because my husband is older. They're right on a Very Busy St., Dorchester Avenue, but there is ample parking if you have the right size vehicle Right across from the Ashmont T station for the red line walk right up is right across the street it's perfect. They have some cozy and comfortable couches and chairs window seats some dude lighting not busy like really cool comfortable atmosphere like there's lots of plans and it's really soft type of environment. It's handicapped accessible will write in no stairs no steps nothing we definitely come here again. If I'm in the area I just happen to pick this up off of yelp like a second coffee place from where I was coming from just down the street like five minutes and it's not too far off the highway I'd say like maybe at the most seven minutes with no traffic so it was kind of perfect for us for today we just want a quick cup of coffee and a treat before we head back home after doing business here in Milton. Ripple Cafe is all about the vibes. The beautiful natural decor and R&B music transport you to a different world and instantly puts you in a good mood. It's an oasis among the Ashmont area and features a black women owned business. The coffee is solid here. The cappuccino was smooth and nicely balanced. The almond croissant was nice as well especially when warmed up. I didn't get a chance to work out of here but it's on the louder side so not ideal for calls. I think you are also limited to 60 min of wifi as well but if you are an Xfinity internet customer, you can use their hot spot here. read more

This review is for the Cambridge location. I ordered the jerk turkey tip bowl with djon djon (black rice) and a Haitian patty. Prior to going there I looked at the pics because I know that when food is served in a predominantly white area, it tends to be served different/ in an inauthentic way. I looked at the pics and was like ok, the rice appears to be legit. So I order the bowl and got double rice instead of the salad. I open it at home and this is what I found. Some uncle Ben's tasting white rice with green peas. Not a tint of black to it. Almost $20 for a bowl and I wasn't provided with what I ordered. I ate the turkey tips (which heads up it isn't an actual jerk taste. It is sweet with a clove and pepper taste). And I ate the Haitian patty which was actually good. Side note, I've had the coffee in Dorchester which is delicious so I'm not knocking the establishment altogether but the bowl was atrocious, the rest went in the trash. The pickliz were not at all spicy and the rice was mushy and flavorless. I called the only number provided on their site (the Dorchester location) and I left a message because they didn't have a number for the Cambridge location to provide. I was told someone would call me back and heard absolutely nothing which is disappointing. My money went to waste and I don't appreciate that no one reached out to discuss this. read more

Side note: I do have a secret weakness for pink xmas trees. yes, its Feb. but why cant it be xmas all year round, I say. Ambiance: positive vibe cashier and sandwich-maker woman who had a bright smile. Ppl here were chill/not yappy. Though I did come in on a weekday so wkends might differ. Food: I got the Pistachio Walnut Muffin w Moroccan Mint Tea. (Love the two tea bags. The muffin was on the sweet side but thats what I get for not listening to the cashier who reced the corn muffin instead) but it was Moist, wasn't swimming in almond extract, and had nice crunchy walnut texture bits. I also love that the yelp community is intentional about supporting Black, Woman owned businesses. If I had to offer one crit, it would be to offer a few other creative bakery options. This place has changed & I am not thinking for the better either. They have a digital display w/ their menu items, which is too bright & annoying to look at. They have this tall shelf w/ random things on it for some reason that just takes up space that could be used for tables. I was not impressed by their baked goods which they obviously don't make there since what you get is a cold, refrigerated muffin. Makes no sense to me as I was expecting a room-temperature muffin. So when I ordered it based on what I saw, I didn't realize I would have to wait for whoever was not the order taker to get it. It was a little weird to watch a few guys sit all by themselves with a bunch of empty seating around them. We went during the morning rush on a weekday. It was obvious the baristas were new, they didn't have much of a flow. In the time we were waiting, several people were confused/trying to get an order fixed. The menu is simple but solid. I got a cinnamon roll and my friend got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Both items were good, nothing impressive, nothing to complain about. We both got a latte, again, no complaints. I wish I never ordered from here because I now know where all my money and calories will be going towards I've had my eye on this place for a while. I live close and work close to it and today decided to order the tuna melt for lunch and it was like the upgraded 3.0 take on a tuna sandwich. The peppers were a nice touch and I added bacon. Went there due to vegan options. We got 2 coffees (which were very nice) 1 bacon and egg sandwich for my dairy allergic wife and a steak and cheese vegan pattie. The bacon and egg had a weird sauce that they didn't tell us would be on it and could not tell me if it had dairy. The vegan pattie was the tiniest microwaved thing shoved into a crassiant. 2/10. The first time I got a cold brew with oat milk and specifically asked for only one pump of simple syrup and it was sweeter than a blending a donut into a Dunkin' coffee. That was a waste of $6. The second time in asked for plain cold brew with oat milk and a blueberry muffin. I had to leave the cafe before getting my muffin bc it took them over 15 minutes to get this and I was going to miss my train. Another waste of $9. Very cute coffee spot right off of the Ashmont T stop. The inside is very bright, clean and refreshing. The workers are friendly and there is always great r&b music playing. The owners are incredibly nice and have some really interesting things for sale such as vegan patties ("try the steak and cheese"!) which make this an easy stop in for a quick bite and cup of coffee before jumping on the T. Great to have a delicious and friendly black-owned coffee/espresso shop in Boston that's the opposite of pretentious. They carry Counter Culture Coffee.
