This is not acceptable! I found a black-and-silver metal chunk inside my maple bacon cream cheese after I already spread it on my bagel and started eating it. While chewing, I noticed the texture didn't feel right, so I spit it out and discovered it was metal. I went back to the store to report what happened because this is a serious food safety issue, and I didn't even get a refund. My husband and I stopped in while driving through the area. Despite a small exterior there was plenty of parking and space inside to sit. We both got a hot vanilla latte. It was pretty solid. The flavor was good but had hoped for a bit more intense flavor. The staff members were all friendly and efficient. Coffee Break Cafe is a great place for a flavorful coffee pick-up me up on the weekend. It's located in Quincy and there's free street parking in front of the cafe. There's not really seating and the location is kind of small so it can get crowded quickly. This location has a variety of unique latte flavors and a nice blend of coffee in the store. They also offer sweet and savory breakfast foods. The baristas are kind and made great recommendations based on my preferences. I tried an iced sugar daddy latte, which had a warm cinnamon and caramel taste. I'd definitely go back to try another flavor! read more

Based on a co-workers testimony, and the crowds of people (esp. students) I see I here on the way to work, I was expecting to get my critical dose of morning caffeine packaged in an unbelievable brew. I think fellow Yelper Louis A. said it best: "If you want coffee with your sugar and cream, this is your spot. If you want a nice cup of hot coffee, with full flavor, I'd look elsewhere". On my first visit I went for a "regular" house blend. I found it tasting less acidic than Dunkin, but lacking the bitterness I look for in a great cup of joe. Looking back, I don't recall it having any boldness or other characteristics shining through. Though, this is fairly characteristic of a light-roast coffee. I also went for a blueberry muffin, which was, well, remarkably unremarkable. Just a little bit better than you get at the grocery store, but not something I am willing to drive 45 minutes for (there is such a place!). On my second visit I went for the French Roast, since darker roasts have that "oomph" I look for. Well, the jury has returned, and the verdict is: Nah. It also lacked the oomph that you find in dark roasts. While side by side I could probably tell some difference, drinking it as I write it doesn't seem any different than the house blend I had some time earlier. The SIn-a-muffin is the same case of déjà vu... not bad, not nothing remarkable either. read more

I always had the impression this place was good since there are a couple locations open and this one in particular always looks busy. Well I have no clue why it's busy because as my bf says, "This place should be called Water Break Cafe." I got the salted caramel latte and he got a French vanilla iced coffee... both tasted like they came out of a Keurig machine in the lobby of an auto body shop. They weren't even saccharine sweet like at ML's. Just water, light cream, mild flavoring, and no coffee taste. This place gets one star for the very cute ambiance and the ladies behind the counter being sweet (though slow). Haven't tried the food which I assume must be good because idk how else they stay open. read more

Great staff and just generally a super cute place! Not really a place to hang out because it's super small but a nice place to stop in for a mid day pick-me-up. The bagels and spreads are great and the prices are reasonable. Honestly the only thing I've been disappointed with... the coffee!!!!! I haven't been terribly impressed and would encourage basic coffee orders. The mocha truly wasn't worth drinking, but just a plain black cup of coffee did the trick for me. read more

Seriously, this is one of my favorite coffee places in the whole world. I used to live in Massachusetts but moved 3,000 miles away to Arizona. Every time I go home to visit, I swing by here to grab a coffee. The flavors are all original and there is something for everyone! If someone doesn't like coffee, they have smoothies and frozen cocoas. You want an iced coffee, there's tons of original flavors! Their blended coffees are absolute perfection. Every time I get one, there is no ice lingering at the bottom. My favorite drink is the frozen oreo craving. I drink it whether there is snow on the ground or it's hot outside. You can't even taste the coffee and it is the best dessert drink ever! The only issue with this spot is the parking. It's totally worth it to get my hands on this perfection! read more

Coffee Break Cafe is a decent little coffee shop near the Wollaston red line T. I've been here a few times and the coffee is good. I didn't really understand how it worked with all their flavors and blends of coffee. So I ordered the toasted coconut coffee - it was tasty. But I didn't realize you have to customize it with cream, sugar, etc to get it to taste the way you like it. Regardless, I enjoyed it. However, I've never felt the service was very friendly or welcoming. When I asked questions about the coffee or how it was served, they kind of looked at me like I was ignorant. They seemed annoyed I didn't know the way I "liked" my coffee or the sizes, flavors, etc. I would rate this place higher if the service were a little friendlier. read more

This is not a place for you to go for a coffee to wake you up/keep you energized. It's just another coffee place for some flavored coffee. I came in here a couple of times before and it's okay coffee, the nutella cocoa was good for the first few sips then it's just a regular frozen coffee drink. The french vanilla and salted caramel flavors are barely there. I'm pretty sure one of the girls thought that my boyfriend and I were going to steal their tips or something just because we were standing there so she grabbed the bowl from the front of us and emptied the tips. My boyfriend started telling me about how people usually tip more if they see more money in the tip bowl, and she overheard us and told us that some of the girls were leaving so they wanted to take in the tips. This was around 3pm on a typical weekday. But usually that's something you do when there aren't any customers around isn't there? Not when you literally have 5-7 people standing in front of the counter trying to buy coffee. Maybe I'm misjudging this whole situation, but I've never seen something like that happened before. I always heard from my colleagues how good the home made bagels and cheese at this place are. This coffee break location is tucked into a corner off of the W.Squantum street right across the North Quincy T station. I always find this place packed in the mornings but its every penny worth the wait. I got the chocolate-banana flavored iced coffee in a medium. The size proportion was more on the large side. The taste was absolutely right on. I wanted to try out their jalapeno bagel with veggie cream cheese but they were out of it. I wish to try out their bagels the next time. The staff is super friendly and moves pretty quick to keep up with the crowd. Hands-down for their service. Considering the price and the proportion ratio this place is absolutely better than the other large coffee chains. The only regret is they don't have a wifi inside and i wish they add more of out-door seating. But these things wouldn't stop me from visiting this place. read more

The coffee shop is a hit or miss in regards to customer service. I just checked out previous yelp reviews to confirm the service. The staff behind the counter probably thought I wasn't a yelper. Simple enough so I don't waste too much time with this post. I was patiently waiting in line (15-20min) while holding my obedient 8lb puppy to order a coffee. Many of the customers were happily interacting with my puppy, great vibe! Few of the employees made the "eye to eye" contact and didn't make any kind of comments about the puppy or even a customer greeting. Of course when it's my turn in line, you already know what happens next, "sorry no dogs allowed next time".. Some of the workers there are annoying. One doesn't know how to make coffee. But I love this place. The Quincy Coffee Break is a lot better than the one in Braintree. They make great frozen mochas. The coffee is fresh and clean tasting. They have customer of the month, daily horoscopes, and card that get punched each time go get a drink that will lead to a free one. I've tried to give this place many chances! I've been disappointed every time I've walked over. The first time was on a weekday morning when I wanted a coffee before work. The girls behind the counter barely paid any attention to me, not even bothering to greet me or say anything along the lines of "thanks! have a nice day!" The other times I've come I've had to stand in line for more than just a few minutes to order a coffee. I personally think the coffee is a little weak, but the staff always seems to be working hard, they never mess up my order, the place is always clean, and it is in a convenient location. It is a decent environment for studying/working on a computer, but it does fill up kind of quickly. I used to eat a lot of breakfast sandwiches but have minimized for the past few years. On occasion I've had one here and there but they always leave me feeling like a lethargic blobby mess. Not here! No torpor or guilt. Pleasantly surprised by the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich this cafe offers. The English muffin was delicious and chewy (was it English muffin or something else?). They have a cooler/refrigerator section where you can grab sandwiches or yogurt, but they heat up any sandwiches you pick up. Service was efficient and very friendly even though the line was constantly to the door (it's a small, intimate space). Iced latte is smooth and satisfying. Saw that they have an interesting tea collection so I'm checking that out next time I come here. This place is hoppin in the morning, so come early. read more

I might be showing my age, but I have been going to this coffee shop since it first opened 20 years ago! OMG! I was in high school and this was the place where all the cool kids went to pretend they were Rachel and Ross from Friends. For the last 20 years this has been a pretty awesome coffee shop with a variety of coffee and drinks. Yesterday I ordered the Salted Caramel coffee iced of course, hello this is Boston! We do iced 365! It was smooth and not overwhelming. Well this is a great coffee shop to chill in all year round especially in the winter, you can just sit down enjoy your coffee with a friend or just people watch! You are bound to bump into someone you went to high school with. Coffee Break Cafe is a Quinzee staple. It has two other locations, so you are never too far away from a latte! You must try the German Coffee Cake coffee...this is a cult classic! read more

Coming from a caffeine junkie, I love my coffee. Not this" Dunkies" &$#% that's on every corner,but a cup you'd make yourself if you could go home 3 or 4 times a day to brew fresh each time. The nature of my business keeps me on the road day and night ,so through trial and error you learn where to get your next fix of caffeine. May as well satisfy with quality rather than quantity . Coffee Break on Old Colony Ave. is my best discovery in Quincy so far. It's just 5 minutes from the Wollaston T-station, but there's parking space right next to the cafe. I've tried the frozen cocoa and the mocha latte, both of which are just ooh-la-la-tastic! Just the right amount of sweetness makes them so perfect for anytime consumption - regardless of season. They have everything customized to their brand right from the water bottles to the little sugar packies. (I love the coffee cups with their black lids - so suave!) Also, the cafe's cosy little space makes for a great hangout spot with friends or just to feed one's caffeine cravings while working. They also have Buffalo Chicken cream cheese on their menu...Hmm, intriguing! They are also generous enough to provide free wi-fi. With all this, just try and keep me away from CBC! read more

I don't drink coffee. People usually seem shocked by this (especially when I tell them how much I work each week) but I'm just not a fan. So why would I review a place like Coffee Break Cafe, you ask? Well, non-coffee drinkers like to have delicious beverages in the morning too, folks! Coffee Break obviously offers tea, but they also have some other options including frozen cocoa (LOVE), frozen lemonades and smoothies. They also have a great selection of pastries, muffins and bagels (including gluten-free) and have a wonderful variety of spreads. I'm partial to the veggie cream cheese, but where else can you find black olive and feta or buffalo chicken cream cheese? The staff is friendly and fast. The prices don't exactly break the bank either. Parking on the street can get a little congested on the weekend, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. Take a detour from your regular Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks trip and try Coffee Break Cafe. You won't be sorry! read more

I've only tried the iced coffee and an iced tea, but I suspect this place is catered more toward customers who enjoy flavorings and sweeteners over coffees that taste more like-- well, coffee. You get a sense of this as soon as you walk in. You're greeted by that hazelnut smell evocative of Dunkin Donuts. I try to stay away from flavors and sweeteners in my coffee so I'll admit, I didn't try anything adventurous. I will say though, that if you're looking for coffee or tea that'll shine on its own merit, I'd look elsewhere. Dear Coffee Break Cafe: I traveled the south shore today in search of the best cup of hot chocolate and this short email is to let you know you've won! You (the Braintree store) beat 3 other local coffee shops in the areas of taste, quality of chocolate, creaminess, ability to be drunk right away instead of burning ones tongue and all around great cup of cocoa. I like how you mix both cocoa powder and melted chocolate - what a brilliant idea! And Ghiradelhi is a nice touch. Thank you also for steaming the milk and adding a beautiful dollop of whipped cream on top. I'm a fan of the original but cannot wait to go back and try the peanut butter cup and maybe even the spicy version you also sell. Came into this Coffee Cafe a couple of times in the chance my first visit was an off but I was very disappointed. Both times the coffee was made they never filled up the cup. Left lots of room when I never told them to leave room. I came in the second time with my family. The worker had to keep asking questions and would walk away before we could answer them. Both my wife and daughter said the coffee was watery and just wasnt made right. The first time I came in it was in the morning. There is a very loud noise in the back that is constant and when you are going in the early morning to have some coffee and sit you do not want to hear such a loud noise. I asked about it but they said it was the coffee machine, which didnt make much sense as I have been to several other coffee cafes. Unfortunatly, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Would have at least said head in and grab a cup on the way but the coffee isnt worth the visit. read more
