No doubt - the best bar on Fry! The staff here is amazing! Friendly, service-oriented staff who get it right or make it right every time. The food is super good, and the Tuesday burger special Is legit! Good beer selection - always something for everyone. I can't give five stars only because their WiFi is painfully, painfully slow. She was the bartender whenever me and my friends came in to eat and she was absolutely amazing. She went out of her way to make sure that we had a good experience, she even came outside and brought my dog some water because of how hot it was. Great place! Its newly renovated so everything is new and very very clean. They have daily specials on food and alcohol every day, and they have a late night menu option. All the bartenders are so amazing. My boyfriend and I hang out at riprocks about twice a week. The food is AMAZING. It's a great place if you don't care about food. Me and my family were traveling through and decided to try this place near UNT. I knew they wouldn't have a kids menu (duh...it's a bar) but they didn't really have much that sounded great. Pulled pork nachos were awful; hardly any cheese and the pulled pork tasted off. Fried green beans were better, but the chicken strips I got the kids were hammered, totally dry and just blah. The Burger manchild got was fine he said, and the quesadilla was just meh. I'm sure this place is great if you are wanting booze. Staff was great. Games didn't work much, but I can see the appeal to the college crowd. One of the bar & grills on Fry Street (I think it is actually on Hickory Street, but the area is called Fry Street? I'm learning). Has a nice large outdoor area with an outside bar. Inside has fun and unique items decorating the walls and ceiling. I think I saw a chandelier made of beer taps. There is a lot of seating and many TVs, so it was a great place to watch the game. The bathrooms were OK for a bar. They have awesome prices and specials every day. Like most of the other bars I went to on Fry Street, the specials are written on fun, lit up black dry erase boards with bright colors. They serve food too. We tried the fried pickles which were good but really salty. I guess that makes you drink more beer, I certainly did. Will be back here when I am in Denton. read more

Riprocks was my first love on Fry St. Inside has some decent seating but your typical "its gonna be a mob when its busy" bar. My favorite thing about Riprocks is the outdoor seating. Much like Lucky Lou's this patio area is fantastic in great weather and when the bar isn't too busy. The bathrooms aren't much to brag about but thats Fry St. for you. Now for the reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5: Last year a friend and I had a double birthday party in November... his bday is the day after mine. We started our celebration at the square and later-ish in the evening headed to Fry for a crawl. By that time is was after midnight and technically not my birthday anymore (it was now my friends birthday) but every bar still gave me my free birthday shot... Except Riprocks. It was seriously like 12:10. But the good thing about Fry is the options so I just traveled elsewhere, and got a free shot. read more

This place is great! $2.50 for a frozen magarita can't beat that! My only complaint is that it's FREEZING cold in the inside. Glad it was 80 degrees outside so we could drink outside otherwise I would had left. UPDATE last time I will be coming here again. Might be my favorite bar on Fry but it's a close call because most of the bars on Fry are great. This bar in particular sells food. The food here is just your average bar food but they do it well. The grilled chicken sandwich here (tip: add honey mustard) is fantastic! The queso here which I'm pretty sure is just rotel is somehow just better here. The wings are great as well! Riprocks has the most tv's and will pull down a huge projector outside when there are huge games on. The seating situation here is booths inside and booths and tables outside. The bar inside is always open but on busy nights they'll also open the bar outside as well. The service here is always superb and the bartenders here are my favorite on all of Fry. There's lots of gaming options here including shuffle board, darts, and cards against humanity. This definitely is more of your dentonite crowd and artsy students. Overall chill crowd. Don't come here if you're looking for a dancing club scene. Riprocks is a must go to! 10/10 recommend. Pro tip: If you're doing a bar crawl snag some cheese fries to go and bring them into Lou's! read more

Oh Riprocks, this place along with Lucky Lou's are the prime location for students looking to get a quick drink along fry st. Riprocks has a more laidback atmosphere with a patio out in the back that has open mic nights every monday night, two pool tables a fooseball table along with darts and other games to play. What's really cool about this place are the drink specials, like most bars do there are different specials every night and they are all really cheap. On monday nights long islands are 2 bucks...all night long, usually I just get the 3 dollar shots when I come here since I don't drink beer but the long island was too tempting for me to resist. The bathrooms at this bar are probably going to be the best ones on fry st in terms of stall doors and sheer cleanliness(most bars on fry st do NOT have a door to the stall).Ooo also another interesting tidbit for people who are going to celebrate a birthday crawl here they have plinko game to play to see what kind of shot you're going to get, that was an experience when I came here for my 21st. I just read through the reviews and saw that they do infact serve food, who knew, can't say I've even been to a bar on fry st during the day since its just not a thing that dentonites usually do. Although my favorite bar in Denton is Lou's, Riprocks is not far behind. In fact, unlike Lou's, Riprocks has bar food. That knocks it up a couple notches in my book. It's not as big as Lou's, but Riprocks is cozy and usually not as busy. So it's great if you just can't stand the big crowds at Lou's. Riprocks is broken up into three areas: the front patio, inside and the patio out back. That helps break up the traffic. The prices are reasonable and I've never met a rude bartender there. The food is really good -- also never had a bad experience with that. They have pool tables, darts and a few arcade games, but I'm usually seen in the darts area with a pint and a few friends. I don't go there nearly as often as I go to Lou's, but Riprocks is a great bar as well and sometimes a nice way to change up the night. read more

This used to be my favorite bar in Denton. They have great bar food and a really good selection of beers for every taste preference. The atmosphere is a little better than divey and has a some actual personality. I'm a fan of the bartenders; they keep rowdy people in check and pay attention to what you actually want to order. I have never had a problem here until last night. I will probably NEVER give Riprocks my business again. Last night was "Bourbon Street on Fry Street" and I was out with a bunch of friends having a good time. We decided to stop in Riprocks and I ordered 2 hurricanes from the outside bar. First of all, $5 for a drink on fry street should guarantee that you're getting a decent drink. This is a college town and $5 is usually on the high-end scale. When I got all the way back to my seat, my friends told me that my drink looked weird. I tasted it, and it definitely wasn't the drink I had ordered but instead soapy water with red food coloring. Not ONLY did I not get the drinks I paid for, but that is DISGUSTING and no customer deserves to be treated like that. So, go ahead and spend your money at Riprocks if you want to deal with asshole bartenders who think that its funny to play pranks on customers. There are 6 others bars on this street and many more just a few blocks away who actually make good drinks and treat their customers right. read more

Riprocks is my asylum! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The people are pretty friendly and treat each other like family. They have good music, cheap drinks, free soda, decent food (decent in general, but really delicious for a bar), and have free wifi & outlets plus USB outlets inside. This place is absolute most humble, fair, and loving place I've been to drink In denton. I have had an issue with an order or drink , maybe once, and they have always fixed the order or drink. Many places in Denton will give you the snub. As a regular for over a year now , my favourite bartenders are Erin and Caleb, also the other guys who have treated me right. The fact is, you can go anywhere on fry street. You won't be treated as well anywhere as rips. As someone who's been to every bar on the block (multiple times), over all, rips is by far the most consistently comfortable and fair (prices). I could name more bartenders, hannah, heather, Laura, and more. This is my family here, they always treat me like a king. Come by here if you're in Denton. It's by far my favourite bar when in town. Riprocks just got a huge facelift! The remodeling is amazing w great finish-outs to modernize the inside. Pool tables are freshly felted, new TVs are hung, bathrooms are upgraded, and the food is still just as amazing as it was before the remodel. Good to have Rip's back! read more

Sooo I went out with my sister for her birthday and two other people to do her birthday crawl (black..natural hair)I hadn't been drinking I needed to take care of her just in case. We get to the door after leaving Lucky Lous ( her SECOND shot was at Lou's) and the girl at the door (Caucasian..skinny) took my ID and afterwards said I can't let you in because you were stumbling, and I said I haven't had any drinks! She then replied that you ALL was stumbling! I replied she is the ONLY one drinking plus she has on HEELs! Who can walk on heels and not trip or something walking on the messed up side walks in Denton! but ok She then stated that well I know how birthday crawls go and everything one is drunk...I've seen yal walking to the bars we had been to two!!) Soo know she's making BS assumptions, stereotyping, and accusing us of something thats not true. Soooo we left and right after that another birthday group ( Caucasian..she had her birthday slash on photo attached below) came to her to get in and guess what!?!? SHE LET THEM IN!!! They went to all the same bars as we did ! Right after us! Sooo that means if she was watching US then I know she was watching them too! RIGHT?! Decided to try this place today....because all of the Instagram post were looking so appealing, but I was sadly disappointed. $4 Paloma's were on the special today and it was the worst drink ever....try to use the actual grapefruit juice made by Jarritos instead of the horrible cheap juice that was used instead and just ruined the entire drink. Now the burger I had wasn't bad, but a $1 for a side of ranch was just ridiculous! Like come on who charges extra for ranch. When I asked for it the waitress was very nice, but when she asked the cook I assume to grab it he looked so annoyed. Would I try this place again probably not, but it was worth a shot at least the burger was decent. read more

Riprocks is a legendary institution. I have the fondest memories of frequenting this bar as a graduate student with friends, and recently, after a thirteen-year hiatus, I went back. Thankfully, it was the same: an authentic, welcoming, and unpretentious bar. It was great to see the UNT students patronize this bar, because like most of us, I did not like the corporate gentrification of Fry. I am not anti-corporate America, but some things need to be left alone. It's about tradition. Thankfully, Riprocks is still here. Bartenders are kind, the outside bar is so cool, and don't forget to order the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. I no longer live in Texas, but I hope you guys keep supporting this place. If you have a problem, talk to someone there and they will figure out a solution. Don't give up on this place, it's one of the few things on campus that reminds me that everything is still OK. I feel like Riprocks has gone down hill in the past 8 months or so. The bar used to be my favorite on Fry Street, but recently they've hired a few bartenders that seem to be more interested in taking shots and talking to their friends while working rather than serving their guests. The past few times I've gone I've been looked at but haven't been acknowledged. Additionally, they're $.50 wing special on Sundays has gotten worse each time I've gone in the past few months. The wings on this past Sunday were about half the size of a normal chicken wing. I've come to enjoy Cool Beans and Lou's more on Fry Street recently. read more

NEVER yelped before but stay away from the NACHOS just don't. Go home throw some chips on a plate, sprinkle some cheese on chips and put it in a microwave. Guarantee you will eat faster even if you have to stop by the store first. Just stick to the lunch specials and be prepared to wait. read more

I'm not in Denton as often as I used to be, so when I do come, I always bring my appetite. I don't go to Riprock's because I want to go to a bar. I come here for the Turkey Delight and for Riprock's Favorite. Both are sandwiches, and both are little bundles of heaven between onion rolls. I am still working on duplicating the Turkey Delight at home, although it is tricky. I recommend the TD without mustard for full effect. :) I typically have a beer with my food, and a couple of times that I've gotten a beer from them it's been skunked. Not sure what they do to their beer, but I've been less than impressed with the bar... The food is always killer though. Staff is quite nice and the atmosphere is laid back. Definitely a nice place to go. read more

Riprock's is a pretty laid back bar. I enjoy going there for the pool and drinko plinko, the game where you drop a ball into a peg board and take a shot of the liquor it lands in. Always fun for birthdays. They have a lot of beers and specialty beers on tap. The atmosphere is chill with a lot of space so it doesn't ever feel super crowded. There is also an outside patio area that is fun to sit in and converse with the passersby and neighboring bar patrons at Lucky Lou's. read more

I don't know why I keep ordering things I just don't like (in this case, chicken) but I wouldn't really hate having to redo this meal but it wouldn't be a top choice either.
