I ordered the BYO bowl, which comes with 2 eggs and 3 sides, and added 2 extra eggs (scrambled) with avocado, hash browns, and sausage. The food arrived on a plate instead of as a bowl, which threw me off a bit since I was expecting it to be served the way it's described. The hash browns were the highlight -- good portion and tasty. The sausage patty, though, was a little tough and had an odd texture, and it was just a single small patty. The avocado portion was also pretty tiny. I also tried a side of sausage gravy, but it wasn't the classic country-style gravy I was expecting. It was thinner, more heavily spiced, and had big sausage chunks instead of a crumble. It wasn't a bad meal overall, and I'd still come back -- I'd just try something different next time, maybe the steak and eggs. read more

They get the 4th star for the service and the ambience. It's like the only country diner I grew up with. I liked it quite a bit. Our server was polite helpful and attentive. The food was very good, but to me, that is 3 stars. We started with the deviled eggs. They are good, but something like you would get at home. They have a bacon jam on them which was a little sweet but still good. They garnished the plate with red onions which was very potent. I would 86 those as a garnish. My wife had the Rueben sandwich with sweet potato fries. She gave the sandwich 4 out of 5 stars. No sauerkraut, but she said it had a really unique flavor. The sweet potato fries tasted fresh as opposed to the kind out of a bag. I had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes which came with a side of green beans. The steak, mashed and gravy were solidly tasty. My on complaint were the green beans. Tasted like they came from a can and were very mushy which makes me think today isn't the first day they have been on the heat. I would come back again. read more

Went on a Wednesday for the open-mic session on the back porch (enclosed). Casual and relaxed atmosphere. Very much a local vibe. It's acoustic only so when you come in the front door and see the basket of foam ear plugs--you won't need them on the porch on Wednesday nights. Full food and bar menu back there. Stephanie did a fantastic job serving a lot of people. Hope she's working if you go. Moved to the main restaurant area around 8:30 to listen to the MainStage live music. Tony Pierce was playing. Great guitarist and singer. Many might need the ear plugs at this point, although I thought it was just about right. Had a couple more drinks and enjoyed the local, live music vibe some more. Since they started serving breakfast, or announced they do, I've been meaning to stop in and today I did. There weren't many people dining. The menu options were fairly good, lots to choose from and at 11am, seems they serve lunch. Coffee was good, but refills were hard to come by. Service was good, he was friendly and welcoming. It was easy to pay, settle the bill. The "Texas" burrito was anything but. It was small, and not "Texas" anything. It was very tasty, maybe needed sour cream and guacamole but otherwise was fine. I would order it again but note my expectations were that it would be a bit bigger in circumference, maybe even some queso. Bacon was good, no issues. With limited patrons, the service from the kitchen was remarkably slow, which was surprising. It took a while to get our food and our dishes were not overly complicated. The ambiance was nice and we weren't hit up for the "band fee" I've read about in other reviews, but noted if I come here on a night when they are playing I'll get charged accordingly. We came for Sunday brunch. We loved the setup and layout of the restaurant and store. Make sure to get a reservation. We did. Our seating was great. The place filled fast. The shrimp tacos, cold and also the beans. I had to track down the waiter again to pay our bill and when I expressed my concerns, he only said sorry to hear that, what?! Terrible experience. We had a 1:30pm reservation for Mother's Day and were immediately warned that we would have to "be patient" with the service. No smiles and not particularly welcoming! I ordered the Sausage, Biscuits & Gravy. "Sorry, we're out of sausage (wait, aren't you a meat store!?) I then chose the Chicken & Waffles. "Sorry, we're sold out". At 2:40pm, we realized how long we had been sat there being plied with drinks and appetizers which at this point had totaled $140 (this included a $13 charge for five of the tiniest deviled eggs I've ever seen). Most of the diners had already left the premises and the live guitarist had also packed up. We asked how long our order would be and were told "another 20 minutes". At that point, we decided to leave. The manager on the way out, apologized and said that "it was really bad today". We ended up having our Mother's Day lunch at Braum's as we were starving! This place was recommended to me by my aunt. A friend that lived in the community said it was no big deal but I chose still to go. I ordered the nachos full-size for $20 from the apps section of the menu. They have chili and brisket on them. I was very much looking forward to these however, I did not enjoy them. I could not eat them because the chili was so sweet (some people like this) and there was very little cheese or brisket. I know it looks like there's a lot of cheese, but what you see is basically all there is underneath that are plain chips. The brisket actually looks like shaved meat. I did enjoy the sour cream and guacamole, and the service was wonderful. I sat at the bar. When I told the lady I did not enjoy the nachos she gave me 30% discount on them. I was very appreciative but unsure if that was the best solution. I decided to grab some ice cream on my way out. I had a choice 1 pint for seven dollars or a half pint for $5.50. I have a native Texan so I decided to go big or go home and went with a full pint of Butterfinger. When I went to pay and was charged $7.95 and with tax, almost 9 dollars. When I mentioned that it was listed for seven, the cashier spoke to the manager and they changed the chalkboard sign then gave me my dollar . I did not enjoy the ice cream, said no one ever but me right now. I couldn't eat it and I love ice cream and Butterfinger. It's hard to explain why, but it just felt like it had a gummy texture and It had a chemically aftertaste. Definitely want more butterfingers too I'll try it again bc I loved the little store atmosphere and it has music sometimes. read more

The store is pretty awesome. Great food, strong drinks and a decent happy hour that we weren't made aware of until our third visit. Our most recent visit was on Father's Day, which was a bit chaotic. They were either over booked, or someone called out sick because our food took over an hour and a half to get out to us. Channing took great care of us, kept us hydrated and inebriated and we had a great time regardless. Would 100% recommend the store, and as new argyle residents, we'll be back again and again. I came here on a Wednesday night to see a band I follow. It's not a huge venue, although I think there is more seating outside for nicer weather than February in North Texas. Service was great, first by Avery and then by Sophie, who were attentive and non-obtrusive while we enjoyed the 2.5 setlist. For being a chef-run restaurant, the food was meh at best. The half order of nachos we started with were stale and a distasteful blob of stuff on top. We didn't even finish them. We also split an order of their street tacos, after each having one, neither of us wanting another one (there are three to an order). The best food item we had was the fried brusell sprouts (an upgrade charge from the normal side of beans with the tacos). Overall, I would come back for the bar part, and maybe to try something else, but it would have to be ANYTHING other than the three things we did eat, because they were downright horrible. read more

Pros - Cucumber/jalapeno margarita, spinach artichoke dip, medium rare ribeye, whipped mashed potatoes, friendly greeting by host, and prices were not outrageous considering the location. Cons - We were given two different menus with different menu items and prices, which surprised our server who tried to explain "everything on both menus is available". Case to Kitchen experience was listed as "comes with two sides", but the sides were on our bill in addition to the Case to Kitchen. All in all, not bad. It was more casual than we expected. She took our drink order and we told her we were ready to order since we had already looked over the menu. The waitress then came to fill our water glasses which were still full as I pointed out to her. She didn't even mention checking our order. I told her we had been waiting a long time for our meal and could she please check on it. Needless to say another 5 minutes later she had not returned. At this point I felt we had been understanding and patient enough. They were busy, but still had several empty tables. We chose to politely get up and leave. As we passed the hostess stand we asked if there was a manager on duty. Yes, it was the girl waiting on our table! We chose to go on. She didn't bother to come tell us we are sorry about your order taking so long or we missed getting your order in...nothing! I can't rate the food except I overheard the table next to us say their biscuit was hard and the French toast was stale. We love to try local spots around the area, but we will not give this place another try. If I could give zero stars I would. I would have loved to give this place a good review as they always look busy. The atmosphere could be the best thing about this place, but that's all. Braum's down the street had a decent hamburger since we were frustrated and hungry by this point. We took it home and enjoyed it on the patio. read more

I didn't try any of the food, but we very much enjoyed the live band. Raised Right Men performed a dozen or so country songs. I don't typically listen to country music, but they were fantastic. Great stage presence, folks were dancing, from all the crowd singing it was clear they knew the most popular songs lol The patrons were super friendly and generous with the drinks. I am knocking off a star because we ordered a round of margaritas that tasted so horrible my friend drank them with her nose pinched. I declined it entirely. Never had a Margarita that tasted like salt water- whew terrible haha but I would return to try the food and see another live band. They have performances Thursday - Sunday! read more
