Please avoid this office. We transferred to this office because they were in network. They seem to have several inexperienced hygienists there who need more training: This was evident in the interactions between the dentist and the hygienists. The dentist was obviously frustrated and short with them because they were not following procedures: It was also apparent when all four sealants that they put on my son's teeth, fell out after 10 minutes, despite following all of their directions. They were not very friendly either. When I called and told them that all four fell out all they said was "sorry about that." So now if we want to get it done, we have to pay out-of-pocket because they already charge the insurance for it. Please find somewhere else to take your children. I'll start by saying that we've been going to Rising Stars for several years and always had good experiences, until today. I brought my 2 boys in for cleanings, one is 12 and the other is 5. The 12 year old's cleaning went fine - his dental hygienist was very nice and even helped with researching orthodontists close to our home. The 5 year old had a dental hygienist who was inpatient and clearly frustrated at times. It was obvious to me she did not enjoy working with young children (at a pediatric dental office...). He was squirmy, had to be reminded to sit still and keep his hands on his tummy, did not enjoy keeping things in his mouth for x-rays or the taste of the toothpaste, all normal things for a 5 year old I imagine. As we were going to get x-rays she made a comment: "only boys who are good get a coin at the end, and get a toy!" I told her that was the only thing he remembered from his last appointment, and he was excited about it. At the end, we're headed out and standing next to the toy machine to check out, and I realize she did not give us a coin. I ask the front desk staff and she told me they were out of coins. So I said "oh that's weird, the dental hygienist was just talking about giving him one..." Then I notice said dental hygienist walking towards the door so I asked her for a coin ("excuse me, we didn't get a coin, do you have any back there?") and she tells me "we give out coins based on behavior and your son spit on my dental assistant". I was shocked and really didn't know what to say because 1. my son did not spit on anyone. He walked up to me, while talking to the other dental assistant, and blew a raspberry on my arm. I assume this is what she meant by "spit" and 2. why would this be behavior related? Shouldn't every child get a coin? Don't they want every child to have a positive experience at the dentist? After that awkward conversation, the front desk girl went and miraculously found a coin for my son (wait, I thought you were out of coins?) The whole thing was incredibly awkward and way too confrontational for a dental office visit. We've been patients for years, but today was our last visit. Would not recommend! read more

This has got to be one of the best dentistry offices I have ever been to in my life. They have one of the most comfortable waiting areas. Featuring an Internet café, where people can bring their computers and get work done, while a friend or family member is getting there teeth cleaned. And a children's play room featuring a flat screen TV and several fun children's activities. Also they have a little refreshment stand with lifesaver mints, and skinny pop popcorn. I normal won't leave a review if I didn't have a good experience. However I felt this one is needed. When my son was 3/4 yrs old I came here and the hygienist chose words to where I started to feel like a horrible mother. So I said something. Didn't go back for several years which brings us to today. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, maybe that hygienist was just not having a good day, we all have them. I made an appointment WEEKS in advance knowing after school hours are a hot commodity (4pm). I received a voice Mail while in line to pick up my son from school to head over to our appointment, vm saying my appointment was at 3pm and it was currently 3:06. I immediately call back worried. I asked if there was anything we can do. There's no way I would make an appointment for 3pm when my son gets out at 3:10. Even though she was sweet on the phone, she pretty much told me to make another appointment which would be several weeks out after already waiting several weeks. I understand things happen, we are human but there was no help on their end. Either make another appointment for several weeks out or be put on a wait list. I apologized for my brain not functioning at the moment because of my frustration and I feel horrible for those emotions, at the same time wish they would help me out just a little. Got the mentality of clock in, clock out with no caring for their clients or try to help even a little. I unfortunately just had a bad experience with this company. read more

Dr. Arwa is the most thoughtful doctor I have ever met. I have a chronically ill child along with 2 more children that need to be seen at the same time. She always puts us in a separate room and goes above and beyond the call of duty. My 2 year old was melting down and was on the floor screaming, "I eat, I eat." Short version: Dr. Arwa is great (and the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one) but the office management and dental staff are subpar and showed complete disregard for patient safety at our last appointment. Long version: We visited the office for routine cleanings in July at the height of the COVID spike in Austin. The hygienist who cleaned my kids' teeth commented when she entered the room that she hated wearing a mask all the time because it was so hard to breathe. Then, as she sat down next to my unmasked, open-mouthed child (who had been wearing a mask up until the time their cleaning began moments before), she pulled her mask below her nose and proceeded to clean their teeth with her nose only inches from their mouth. There was another dental tech in the room at the computer who didn't say a word and I was so caught off guard and uncomfortable that I didn't speak up either. She left the room when she was done and Dr. Arwa came in (fully masked) and did their exam. We left without saying anything but I couldn't stop thinking about what I should have said or done. I called the next day and explained what happened to the receptionist and she apologized and said the office manager would call me to discuss/address my concerns. I never heard from the manager. We have been to this office before and have never been impressed by the staff but Dr. Arwa was so fantastic that we have returned anyway. Not anymore, we won't go back! read more

Dr. Singletary's awesome. We've been taking the kids to her since before her move to Steiner Ranch/Lakeline, and even though she's half an hour away now, we still go to her. Her Steiner Ranch office is hard to find and there's not really a sign so just trust your instincts, pull into the shopping center, and she's around to the right by the karate center. The waiting room is very comfortable and has a TV that seems perpetually tuned to Spongebob, as well as a computer to play with in the corner. The exam room is long and has 3 or so dentist chairs in it, so the kids can see what's going on with their neighbors. They also get to pick a toy out of the vending machine when they're all done. If your child needs more extensive work, they have a couple of private rooms with a flatscreen TV that hangs right over the patient's face and a selection of movies to watch. It's a great way to keep their minds off of what's going on in their mouths. Last, but not least, she will also do work in one of the local hospitals if your child needs to be knocked out. Dr. Singletary is wonderful with kids and explains what's going on in language they can understand ("You have some sugarbugs on your teeth!"). She's also very easy to talk to as an adult. The staff is all friendly and helpful. They also offer a discount to people who don't have dental insurance. read more

We have been going here for years but the last two times since they've been Under New Management it has not been good. They are always running late and they are not as nice. Dr. Chung is very nice but is often late. The hygienist aren't nearly as supportive or kind as they used to be. It seems obvious to me that the new management is overbooking to make more money. I always liked this practice until my last visit last year. Dr. Thomas told me to start thinking about braces for my daughter. I responded saying "oh, she needs braces?" and she said "Everyone gets them, so you need to start thinking about them." That completely took me offguard... I just nodded and couldn't believe what she had just said. She didn't even offer a reason that was specific to my daughter's teeth. Then months after this visit, I start getting billed for almost $200. The visit consisted of x-rays and cleanings that are all covered 100% by my insurance so I couldn't figure out what that was for but ignored it since I knew I would never go back there. They had also told me that my daughter had at least 2 or 3 cavities and 1 year later when I went to a new dentist they said she has 1 very small cavity. So, I wouldn't trust them anymore and would get 2nd opinions on everything from braces to cavities before doing work. read more

I took 3 kids to this practice based on the advice of my husband's endodontist. He said he found it great for his 11 yr old daughter. Three of the kids had terrible treatment with previous dentists and had to have extractions due to cavities/crowns in their baby teeth. The sedation was very well done, kids were not reluctant to return. It was a positive experience for all of us. The reviewer Louise admits that they didn't take the advice of the dentists and ergo her child had problems. None of mine had any ill effects at all. However, we did follow the directions, no food prior to treatment and they sucked on sugar free lollypops after. Staff and assistants were very professional. I am a nurse, have raised 3 kids and they all got great dental care. And this is excellent for my grands, even better than what my own kids had. read more
