Excellent place to go if you have any anxiety about the dentist. I've had severe anxiety regarding anything dental since I was a child. I start shaking, even just sitting in the lobby. Dr Lane was so nice, calm and listened to me explain why I was so nervous. Very sympathetic and his team came up with an easy way to approach the dental work I needed (having not been in a while, I had some issues). Because of everyone's patience with me, and calm demeanor I am no longer scared to go! I can't recommend them enough for anyone with anxiety or even without. read more

Dr Olivera is excellent but was unable to see me. Dr s was terrific. They have a new xray machine that was easy to get X-rays from. Austin dental is always so accommodating. Billie is giung on a temporary leave starting in May. I like van but it won't be the same. I entered the no cavity club. I just wish I didn't have to pay for nitrous every three months . It was exciting to enter the no cavity club.unfortunately, they didn't have earphones that fit my phone. Next time I will get each plugs. I have been getting my implant preparation done with Austin Lifetime Dental. Last week, Dr. Lane put the seating in, the one that stays in three months before you screw in the final crown implant. I just had to post because my dad was a dental surgeon - I was his chair side assistant for years in my teens and recognize precision and expertise when I see it. So I have immense gratitude for the accuracy of Dr. Lane's work! He does such a great job giving the numbing shot, he does this thing where he wiggles your cheek meanwhile one of his professional staff, Suzanne, was holding my other hand to distract me. I have to admit... I took Tylenol and Advil as the pain block was wearing off the 1st night and did not need even a second dose... I am grateful; I just HAD to post! read more

I had a bunch of dental work done just before moving to Austin and I thought a recently-installed bridge was coming loose. So I did a Google search and Austin Dental came up with high ratings. I called and explained my problem, they scheduled an appointment same day. After checking in I was taken back to a room where I had an endless conversation with an incompetent dental assistant whose name I unfortunately don't remember. She kept asking me the same questions over and over. Things like my last dental visit, the reason I had come into the office ... she would ask, I would answer, and she'd type away and then either repeat wrong information back to me or ask me again. Eventually she announced that for "future visits" they needed to get a full set of x-rays. I said I had just had major work done and had a current full set of x-rays which she could get from my previous dentist (whose name they never asked). She replied oh those might not be good enough, I should probably get a full new set. And a cleaning. We argued back and forth about it for a few minutes, then she said she'd "schedule it on the way out". She insisted that to even look at my bridge they needed to take at least a couple x-rays. In reality, all they needed to do was manually manipulate it: wiggle it, pull on it. How do I know this? Because when I had the work done, it had came loose. That was why I was worried about it. I went to my old dentist and he pulled on it, it came out, he glued it back in. But no, they needed x-rays. She ended up taking two. Neither were used by the doctor. Eventually Dr. Olivares came in and again asked the problem. I explained it to him. Again. He didn't ask the assistant anything or look at the x-rays. He had me open my mouth and ... examined the wrong area. For several seconds. Then he stood back and, like Lumbergh in Office Space, said "Hmm ... yeah ... I don't see a bridge here." Like I'm freaking crazy. Like I was making up that I have a bridge in my mouth. Like there wasn't an x-ray of a bridge displayed on the computer screen. The dental assistant who had just taken the unnecessary x-rays just sat there saying nothing. So I pointed to the bridge, which was one tooth ahead of the area he had been examining. He did exactly what I expected should be done: he tried to wiggle it. It didn't move. He pulled on it, it didn't budge. Good enough for me. We agreed that it was probably just normal tooth motion, and I suggested I was probably overly conscious of it because of previous problems. All good, right? Then he told me that even if it was loose, he couldn't have done anything. They would just have to wait for it to come out on its own. So, why tell me they can help me? Why not just say on the phone "Are you in pain? No? Okay, probably best for you to wait for it to come out on its own, as there's nothing we can do." After spending another fifteen minutes trying to sell me on a cleaning, a bite guard, and other services, the doctor left and I was taken to the front to settle up. The receptionist told me "that will be $11". But that's just the out-of-pocket. They don't tell you the full charge and you don't know how much they are billing your insurance until you pay and get a printed receipt. In total they charged more than $100 for two x-rays for ... nothing. For a visit that was entirely unnecessary. For, essentially, two unused x-rays and a thirty-minute high-pressure sales pitch. While I was standing there looking at the bill, fuming, the same assistant gave a completely inaccurate summary of my dental history to the receptionist and told her to schedule me for a full set of x-rays and a cleaning. I declined both and walked out. An absolute joke of a dental office. read more

It it is a clean modern environment with the latest in technology & amenities for patients. In addition and maybe most important to me is they provide honorable billing and rates that are clear and do not mislead; no hidden fees or trying to take advantage of you or your insurance plan. My son went to a Austin. Dental and I was very clear about being explained the charges before any services were performed. The staff told me that they would let me know before any type of work was done, and how much it would cost out-of-pocket. They did not do this. They ended up performing a Comprehensive x-ray and charged me $144 for the visit. I will never go back to them again. read more

If you have concerns he spends time talking to you. They practice social distancing, require a COVID consent form and take your temperature and blood pressure. I finished early and that never happens. The staff there is wonderful and I am very excited that dr burkart recommended them. I have always been told that I am a difficult patient but don't feel like I want to be difficult for them. Maybe I've been watching too much of House M.D. several years ago, but I've been mentally gauging my doctors' competence:hospitality ratio. Everyone's a bit different, and at Austin Dental, I see both simultaneously. This is the only dentist office I've been to in Austin since it's the closest to my apartment. However, I consider myself lucky that they've given me no reason to complain thus far. They're out of network in terms of dental insurance, but I'm a guy who's willing to risk paying a tad extra for quality, comfort, and peace of mind. Billie Jo is my Dental Hygienist, and she's the reason I don't mind waking up before 8am to come here. She's always cheerful, remembers conversations we've had, and the teeth cleaning process has always been smooth and pain-free. Those awkward moments where your hygienist is keeping a conversation going while you have a sharp metal tool in your mouth? None of it here. My dentist is Dr. Roland and while he's a tad unemotional, he doesn't sugarcoat anything and tells you exactly what's going on in your mouth. When it comes to technical stuff, you want to avoid any misinterpretations, and a dentist like Dr. Roland is the way to go. I've also had Dr. Lane fill in once while Dr. Roland was out. He was more friendly, but not at the expense of skill. You won't be finding any inept dentists here. I've tried looking up other dentists that are in my insurance network, but like I said, peace of mind is a very valuable thing to have. read more

Their services are excellent here! If you have anxiety and nervousness and you need a dental procedure, they are great to work with. The staff is friendly and understanding. I needed full wisdom tooth extraction but was really nervous. They offered options to help make this as comforting and smooth as possible. We split the extraction into two different visits taking out one side at a time making chewing and recovery easier while providing the laughing gas option to ease the anxiety I had of more intense sedation. When it came time for the actual procedure, they were wonderful. The dental assistant was great, she was really friendly and we made conversation easing the tension. The dentist executed the extraction with such finesse that I didn't even recognize when he pulled the first tooth which was shocking. He was great about making it as pain free and smooth as possible! The only thing I wish they had was more than two options in terms of pain medication because I was allergic to one and didn't react well to the other. Other than that, these visits went completely smooth and problem free. The routine cleaning procedures are wonderful as well, like a spa treatment for your mouth! I stopped going to the dentist in my earlier 20s. I didn't have the insurance and I frankly didn't enjoy going because of multiple unenjoyable experiences. This of course was very irresponsible on my part, but sadly it's what happens to a lot of people who suffer from and allow their anxiety to take control. My dentist's journey started about a year ago. I had a severally bad back tooth. And when I say bad, it was just white hot 24/7, nothing stopped the pain. Without any sort of insurance we signed up for the Carrington Dental Discount plan. The dentist we had found (Not Austin Dental) helped with that tooth extraction and with the one directly below it as well. I ended up having a cleaning there and was set to have a root canal for the opposite side. Sadly, their front desk staff tried to charge us hundreds more and if it hadn't been for my diligent husband- we would have paid thousands more than we should. That was our strike 1. Strike 2 was when she wouldn't be flexible about the material of my crown. She wanted to do Porcelain (or ceramic I'm not 100% sure) but we read that when people grit their teeth this material will break. I grind my teeth at night and she wouldn't listen saying "management" wants them to stick with one material. Strike 3 was when we found out SHE herself was management and just didn't want to work with us. We instantly stopped going to this particular dentist. I decided to stay on top of my teeth until we came across one we really connected with! Fast Foward to 2020, a brand new insurance card for yours truly, and my TMJ muscle. It was so tight that it felt like my teeth had electricity shooting through them. Not fun at all, do not recommend. and that's when we began our search again. Even though that pain would leave as soon as I calmed down, I did not want to chance it. I searched "IV Sedation Dentistry" and they popped up immediately. Now, with someone who has mild situational anxiety when it comes to the dentist...my husband had to call for me. I would burst into tears at the thought of the dentist. Diana was kind, sweet and incredibly helpful. We set up a consultation visit so we could see what we were working with, and I was very impressed with how well they handled me. The 30 year old baby. Suzie was the dental assistant we first spoke with and she was so nice. It means so much they were patient and kind with us during this whole process. I met with Dr. O and ya'll he is the nicest dentist I have ever met. He was very detailed in how he explained my situation to me and never once made me feel silly for needing IV sedation for the cavities I had. I also met Mary who took my gum measurements and she was equally welcoming and kind. I felt so comfortable that I came back a few hours later, ALONE, to get my first cleaning with them. Mary was the one that worked with me during my cleaning and she was very considerate. I often space out and try to block my anxieties but what really stood out to me was that she noticed. She stopped, asked me if I was okay, and helped. My TMJ was flaring up for having my jaw opened and she used a bite block to help relieve some pain. I was mega impressed! What also impressed me was that Dr. O called me personally to make sure I had made it home safely from my first cleaning and wanted to know how it went. Talk about professional and caring. Then the following Tuesday I came in to take care of several cavities. I was nervous, and began to cry in the lobby and everyone was kind enough to try and lift my spirits. Nora was the assistant during this procedure and she was also very kind during the whole ordeal. I remember going in for my appointment, Dr O setting me up with the IV and it was over before I knew it! I was so happy to finally have everything taken care of, properly, by a staff that understands basic human decency. Finding a dentist can be hard, but finding one that actually gives a damn about the patient in the chair is a lot harder. I absolutely love this place! Dr. Marino and his technician are so friendly and warm. Very knowledgeable. I love the amount of time they take with us while being as thorough as possible. They are not in the network of any insurance provider, which allows them to charge whatever they want from $200 to pull a tooth to $300 for a single filling. When they file with your insurance, your insurance will only pay a percentage of the max of what they think the service is worth. This equals a lot of out of pocket costs which you may be not expecting. If you're rich and looking for the best friendly dentists then I would recommend Austin Dental. I've been going to Dr. Roland for years. He is the best dentist I've ever had. Very friendly, very skilled, and he has the latest alien dental technology. For crowns he has "one visit" LAZER technology. Basically it scans and builds the crown on site so you can be done in a single visit. Cool. Convenient. You don't even notice the little radio implants in your teeth that form a vast mesh radio network all across Austin to signal the Venusians. My hygienist (April) is equally awesome. She's a totally cool creature and does the most pain free cleaning, it never gets even slightly uncomfortable. Easily the best. Ever. She probably has some nerve deadening secretions or something. Last visit we were having a particularly good chat when she measured my HR. My HR had spiked. "It must of been the walk to x-ray machine," she says. I murmur agreement. Yeah right. I can't get my HR that high after 20 minutes of cycling intervals. Either that or it was the alien technology, or that I have a thing for aliens. Front office staff is cool too. Ignore the gills, you'll only make them uncomfortable, it's not polite to stare. But you already knew that. Take the opportunity to visit Dr. Roland before the mothership returns. Very disappointing!!! I went for the first time today to examine a gum problem I am experiencing and before I even saw the dentist the DA (older blonde lady) didn't hesitate to tell me I was going to loose my tooth. I found this very unprofessional and disturbing! Then the dentist Dr. Olivares came in and I had to repeat myself to him. He came off very set in his way and offered me no help but to see a perio. I asked if I can see one in my network and he replied "no perio's work in net works. So I doubt this one will be in your network." Again very unprofessional! The old lady DA walked me to the front with an attitude and didn't say "goodbye or have a nice day!" Then the other old lady up front gave me a bill and said "hopefully insurance will cover it!" I just finished up the second of my first two visits in the last week. The first appointment was for x-rays and a cleaning, of course. Everyone here is just so lovely and engaging. From Diana, who set up my appointment and got me set up in the system, to Susie who photographed my head several ways and took my blood pressure and temperature, I couldn't have felt more welcomed or comfortable. Afterwards, Van did a top notch cleaning, probably the best cleaning I've ever had (teeth sooo smooth), and we had fun conversation throughout. Today, Dr. Lane filled a small cavity, assisted by Leigh. Again, laughter-filled conversation ensued while the novocaine set in, and I did not feel a thing during the procedure. Not even a touch of sensitivity. In short, everyone I've come in contact with here is highly competent, with a great personality! read more

When Dr. Oliveras sat down to talk with me, I knew with 5 mins that I wanted him to perform the procedure. He talked to me and answered every question I had was out once rushing me. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Went over all my options with me and even studied my x-rays further that evening at home and called me the next day with further recommendations. I was very nervous on the day of the procedure but my Dental technician, Meloney was very helpful and helped calm my nerves.
