They refused to come out and told me to go to their store and purchase a patch kit and hire a handy man. They came out for maintenance while I was at work. Water was low. They turned on the faucet and left. I got home at night and the water had been going for hours. My pool was almost overflowing. I called. I was told they would make a gesture on my next bill. I've used Rising Sun for the last 3 years to close my pool and had no issues until this year when I went to open the pool. I was surprised to see that my coping stones had heaved up and broke and the water was very close to the edge. It's obvious the water got under the coping, froze, and heaved up the stones causing them to crack. I contacted Rising Sun and provided photos and they refused to take any responsibility. I asked why they no longer lower the water even though their website recommends it and met with a response of "we just don't think it's necessary". The real answer is that it simply saves them time. Extremely disappointed with the service and communication from this company. We informed Logan directly about several issues with our pool, and he acknowledged them at the time. Now, we're being told by the owner, Tara, that Logan was unaware of any problems--which is simply not true. On top of that, we also spoke with another owner, Michael, who showed zero interest in resolving the situation or even listening to our concerns. It's incredibly frustrating to deal with a company that can't keep track of basic communication among its own team and then acts like the customer is at fault. Rising Sun is quick to respond and work with you when your spending $11k to convert your pool to their supported pumps although they over salted my pool substantially to the point it's still only at 3900 salt levels and it was converted in February and we've had so much rain I've emptied 4+ inches at a time all summer. But get anything else done like your maintenance agreement on a go tub and crickets. No response to emails, service tickets nada. 2019 they weren't any better when I tried to get it installed I should have known better. read more

Overall - multiple errors in pool installation, service and process way below expectations, end result ok. Would not recommend. We went with Rising Sun for our fiberglass pool installation in Durham. This was a much more haphazard and error ridden process than I could have ever imagined. Dig started without pre-construction checklist done, which resulted in them hitting electrical line and pipe in an area not marked for digging - we are asked to pay for repair. Gas heater is installed under screened window, against code guidelines. Has to be moved after we point this out. They forgot to install heat pump and try to blame it on us and the gas tech (for not catching their error). Team had to come out and revise equipment layout. We are asked to pay additional electrician costs. Cleaning crew never showed up on scheduled day. Construction manager says "I only put in the request but didn't confirm." We realize that mistakes and errors can happen, but our biggest issue is that RSP never projected the sense that they were taking ownership of their errors and would go above and beyond to correct them. Instead, they tried to project blame - on us, on the subcontractors, even on the service department of their own organization! I had one conversation with the owner that went so stunningly bad that we considered abandoning the project midway through and pursuing a settlement through the courts. We did have positive interactions with a couple of their employees post-construction, so that should be stated. In the end, we feel that we overpaid for what we got, went through a miserable experience, but at least everything seems to be working for now. Would recommend to look elsewhere. read more

Saw some of the negative reviews of this company and felt compelled to give my review. For anyone complaining about lack of inventory you obviously have not been keeping up with the news on what is happening globally and domestic in regard to raw materials and finished product. There is a Global Supply Chain that is now struggling to keep up with demand for shipping due to delays from Covid which are still taking place. Before you place blame for empty shelves why not educate yourself first. For those complaining about high prices, see above. It's all related and it's all supply and demand. That having been said I have had nothing but great experience with Rising Sun Pools from the first time we walked in the door. Sales and planning were great as is there service after installation. I live about 10 miles from the store but travel to them for my testing and supply needs even though there is a pool store down the road from me. Front desk is always great and Shamika always has a smile on her face when not wearing a mask. I referred two neighbors to Rising Sun and they have also had a great experience. If you need a pool don't look any further as this is the place. read more

I'm located in Willow Spring NC 27592. I have been trying to communicate with Vinny, and I have all the email correspondence that I could forward to you if you would like. I started the emails on 8/13/24 and got no reply, I followed up on 8/19, 8/21, 8/26, with an email. Vinny called me on 8/27, and I missed the call. I returned the call, and we spoke on the phone about what I was looking to have done. On 9/9 I received a quote from Vinny, but it did not cover everything we had talked about on the phone. I responded back to his email on the same day asking him to confirm what we had talked about was included in the quote and if so, I would like to proceed. I got no response, so I followed up that email twice 9/16 and 9/23. On 9/25 I received the updated quote capturing what was missed in the first quote. I responded to the email and said it looked good, and I would like to proceed. I asked him when he thought we could get the work started since I was trying to schedule other contractor upon completion of the pool work. Vinny responded on 10/1 stating he could send over the contract and adjust the invoice for everything but the installer cost. I would just pay the installer directly. On October 7 I replied to his email after reviewing the contract and said, "lets proceed". On October 9th I received the order for materials and labor and a link to follow to make the payment. I also received the e-doc to sign. On October 17th I emailed asking a few questions about the invoice. The invoice was not filled out completely and had me entering the amount to pay. I found this a bit strange. I followed up the email after no response on 10/27 stating I had signed the document for the installation, but I still had questions on the material invoice. I stated that I could swing by the office to communicate with him that way if it would be better. I got no response to this email, so I followed up again on 11/12 stating I would like to get the work started ASAP and that I had signed the paperwork on 10/27. I stated I was still confused about the material invoice that was left blank, and I need to fill in the total? There was no subtotal on the paperwork, and it was asking me to add my tax? In this email I asked him if there was a better contact to reach out to for this issue. Vinny responded on 11/18 asking for my number and I replied with it. I have not heard from him since. I work construction so maybe I missed a call, but I had no voicemails. I never ever leave reviews because I understand it's difficult sometimes scheduling with another sub-contractor for the install and material deliveries. I also know there could be delays with receiving materials. I was just looking for some communication. We are going on 5 months now and I have no idea when I'm going to be able to get this pool installed. I have not heard a word back about the e-doc I signed for the install either. This may not be Vinny, but it's the same frustration. I feel I have been patient and followed up with several emails way more than any customer should have to. I'm going to go ahead and remove the review because I feel bad about it, but I was extremely frustrated with the entire thing. I'm also holding off another contractor building the deck around the pool until this work is done. I do appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to the review. They have repeatedly failed to keep to the biweekly cleaning plan. They no show so often. Been 34 days since they cleaned my pool despite it supposed to happen biweekly. Prior to that there was again a lapse in my service. My account repeatedly was flagged for termination despite never missing a payment nor requesting that they do so. Several times I failed to receive a treatment report. One more than one occasion they left all the empty salt bags on the floor. That time I had to call and specifically ask that that employee not return to my property. They are somewhat responsive but it takes way more management on the customer than appropriate. read more

I was a faithful customer for thirty years. most of that time I maintained the pool myself , but for the last several years I used RSP maintenance. This was satisfactory until June 2202 when something went badly wrong with RSP maintenance services. My 17K gallon pool was green much of the time although I paid for weekly maintenance. RSP said I needed new filter material. $ 600 later the pool was still green. After another two months of green water I asked RSP to stop. I contracted with another pool company who threw out the RSP filter material, installed new glass filter material. Since then I've had a clean and clear pool. It saddens me to write this because until 2022 I had a high opinion of RSP, many good people work very hard there. There is a failure of communication, I think, from the top down. read more

We bought an above ground salt pool in 1/2021. We signed an Installation questionnaire which did not say we needed to mount the salt box. Never during the purchase was this mount mentioned, was not mentioned during the review of the purchase, and when we were getting ready for installation, we were only told to get an underground electrical set up near the pool (which we did). Rising Sun installed the salt box on the ground without any mention of it. When we went to turn on our pool in 4/2022, the pool was not working. The team came to look and said it should not have been installed on the ground, and when we opened the box, it was filled with water. After the team left, we noticed our electrical box post was now broken as well. A manager would not address the broken electrical unit other than saying, "it was not mentioned in the teams report that they broke it.". Regarding the installation of the salt box on the ground, they pointed to small verbiage in the contract that said it would need to be mounted, but this was not pointed out or mentioned during the entire process. It seems unreasonable that no other guidance was given and should have been caught by the consumer from a document in January and installed in May. It has been a very frustrating experience for us. This is my first time ever complaining about a company on a review so hopefully this shows I do not make this post lightly. read more

We have had a pool and spillover spa installed by Rising Sun over the last year (starting dig December 1st, 2022), and while the pool was complete and for the most part done incredibly well (save for having to project manage the work getting done, something we paid to have built into the project), the spillover spa has never worked as intended, and we've now been making payments on a "finished product" without ever having used our spa, for going on six months. In addition to it not working as intended, we've also had incredibly bad service from the team at Rising Sun. We are promised texts, emails, and phone calls, which we never receive. We are promised service technicians will be onsite, and they never show up. We are promised better communication about the issues, work that is being done, etc. and we consistently receive nothing. When technicians did come to work on the spa, they were unaware of previous work, duplicating troubleshooting steps, and often times calling it "fixed" without actually testing the full functionality. Ultimately it's been a full time job just to manage getting any information, updates, details, etc. on something we've paid for now for many months. Rising Sun has shown no urgency, and no willingness to help compensate us for the months lost on something that was "paid as complete". I would not recommend using Rising Sun based on the service we received (and continue to receive, having no solution as of this date, July 26th, 2023). The Latham fiberglass pool itself is beautiful and after swimming in concrete this summer glad we went that route, so I'd absolutely make the recommendation for fiberglass and the quality of Latham, but I'd suggest finding another installer. read more

I have waited to do a review as we had our up and down moments. However, every time I had an issue, they really stepped up and made it right, which is why the review is favorable. With COVID, they have been extremely busy as so many people wanted a pool this summer. My pool is in, it is beautiful and I love it. We purchased the 44 ft long vinyl pool. I feel more communication should be given upfront on what to expect, prior to issues. Especially since this is what they do, they should have a frequently asked question sheet that they give out to people to address things like: 1) What are the choices and costs for coping around the pool - before you buy, so you aren't surprised by the extra cost later and can budget ahead of time properly. 2) Why it is a soft bottom pool - so water can seep in under the liner when you have heavy rain like Hurricane Sally which will cause creases in your brand new pool, but after a few days (if you have good drainage) magically disappear to a large degree and what you can do to fix it. 3) Why you should put in drainage around the pool while it is all backfilled, to not have a heart attack from (2) above, and so that it is done correctly...this would have been really helpful to know ahead of time!! 4) If you have something underground that you want them to avoid hitting, make sure you stay there all day as they switch operators and don't communicate to the next person what to avoid. Overall, the work was well done. When we had a warranty issue, they responded quickly and it was fixed with no charge. The costs ended up being higher than expected, with for example the decking size being recalculated as they were about to pour the concrete- but they bent a little to work it out to our satisfaction. I will say the sales person was impossible to nail down, but most of the rest of the employees and subcontractors were good to work with. I recommend RSP with the caveat that as with any complicated process (including many county inspections!), issues will occur. If you are reasonable, they are reasonable back, including the owners getting directly involved when needed. read more

Let me start with the Great. Mike Edge, our installer was great, he came out for warranty work on our Salt System today. He took the time to listen before running some tests and figuring out the issue. He is very knowledgeable and if he was the entire face of the company, I'd give them 6 out of 5 stars. Now for the reason they only got 4 stars on this review, no fault of Mike Edge. Now our interaction with Mike Vassallo, the owner, was quite irritating. He was pushing back on getting some one to come take a look at the system as he was worried we wouldn't pay the $125 service fee. The entire discussion initially was his worries about not getting paid by us or Hayward. Very unprofessional! If being one of the sole Hayward certified service locations isn't profitable, then don't do it, but don't push back on customers....I know a couple of pool companies that would be happy to take that "burden" off of your hands. Back to Mike Edge, I can't say enough, he just left an hour ago and I'm really happy with how he worked with us. read more

After they accepted my contract to oversee my pool for the three weeks I was on vacation, in July 2017,"" the service was not provided "" none of their services were rendered, and the pool became unserviceable, and unusable throughout the whole summer. Immediately after I was gone but a week, my pool turned completely green and to my dismay when I returned the pool was a complete cesspool, green/lime/green,, I was shocked as I assumed I could go away with peace of mind thinking I had hired professionals (that aren't cheap). Was I wrong!, on top of that I had bought a whole year supply of chemicals from them. at expensive cost., Upon my return, I tried to contact them, and they refused to come to the phone, took me several attempts to have them explain what happened to the service. finally they admitted they were short people due to (sickness and motorcycle accident of their help). Tara and Mike demanded I pay over $700.00 ++ for some service they never rendered. when I refused they rudely never apologized, yelled at me over the phone numerous times and finally took legal action against me thinking they were going to win, but I gladly countersued and they lost the case. Then Tara in court after case was over storming out of courtroom charged at us with that tone of arrogance blaming me for her company's failure to service a long standing valuable customer, and left my pool and liner damaged thru their negligence. Overall they lost the case, the customer and their reputation. Company doesn't qualify for any good ratings, and so they didn't care about customer, or service or accountability, or any apologetic remarks. this sums it all as stay away so you don't get cheated, ripped off and lied to, and to( the judge too). My husband and I went into the store on April 25,2025 spent a lot of the time with the sales lady. She seemed to be very knowledgeable about the pools. Well, here is where the trouble started! She gave us a 3 week (if not sooner) for the pool to be installed. She told us someone would being calling us to set a time, We never heard anything, so I called and they couldn't give us a time frame, told me to call the man that does the installs, which i did and was told he didn't know who gave us that time frame because he was over a month out so it would probably be the end of June, but once he got home he would check his calendar and call me back....Which he never called us back!!! Called Kayle, she was very rude, before I could even finish talking she wanted to know...IF we wanted our money back, No we didnt want our money back We just wanted a time frame of when the pool would be installed!!!! She also said she would call us back and never did!!!! My huband calls and speaks with Kayle, he wanted to pick up the pool we had someone who could install it much sooner.This was monday May 8, 2023 again she said she would call us back, again she never called and again she asked DO YOU WANT YOUR MONEY BACK!!! at this point he told her yes, she said she would have to go and speak with Gina (which is one of the owners I believe) she said sure she could put our money back on our card. WOW...Great customer service wouldn't you think... the owner was and did lose a customer and not just us, because I WILL TELL EVERYONE THAT ASK ABOUT A POOL!!! I had already visited the web site and had requested a catalog. receive an email back with that info. Where do I begin...Started using this company bc they had the most reasonable price but little did we know they would be a nightmare. We had them fix a leak in our 33,000 gallon pool and put a new liner in. After draining the pool they fixed the hole up nicely. Which is where the 2 star rating comes from. Then we got a water truck to come refill the pool which got delayed so rising suns put huge fans in our back yard to suck the liner flat until the water got here and left them running loudly in our backyard for days instead of coming back out to fix it all properly. So when we finally got the water truck it only filled the pool half way so then our liner got bubbles in it and then rising sun told us to use our hose to fill the rest of this 33,000 gallon pool! After all of these they tried to blame us and charge us extra. We thankfully got the conversation on our ring camera to prove our innocence. On top of this they left half of the top of the pool liner seal for us to finishing installing ourselves. They got defensive very quickly during this whole process which made me think this probably happens a lot. During all of this we noticed a leak in our pump they were supposed to fix and have now been dealing with them for two years on trying to get this leak fixed which they continue to try to charge us for but yet still somehow have not figured out how to fix this leak... ADVICE: pay the extra money for the better company, do not use rising sun. read more

I had an 18,000 gallon vinyl lined pool with a hot tub and a tanning shelf installed in my pool in late 2017. Chip was my salesperson, and Josh was the person who helped me do the design, coordinate construction, etc. The process of installing a pool is complex, and there are tons of options and various factors that can change to influence cost. To add in some complexity, they had to coordinate lots of things with our builder, to make sure things got done in the correct order. While we had "generic numbers" when planning our pool project, the numbers didn't "firm" up until we entered the design stage. Josh was great in working with me to try and reduce cost where possible and achieve the ideal balance of look/feel/cost when it came to our pool. We engaged Rising Sun for both the installation as well as to handle the general contracting for the patio, electrical, etc. Overall, we found that some of their estimates for costs were on the low side, which ended up in us going over budget somewhat; but they did a fairly good job in managing expectations. If we were doing this again, I'd push for more design work up front to firm up the costs before choosing the path of self contracting vs RSP contracting. The post install support has been great thus far - we've had several minor issues to deal with (bead lock liner coming out, some learning curves with the OmniLogic controller, some chemical balance issues at the start.) But aside from that (which I consider somewhat normal for a project of this size and complexity) things have gone smoothly. The RSP staff responds fairly quickly to email, are friendly to deal with, and helpful overall. We take our water in for a chemical analysis and they tell us what to do for the most part. Thus far, post install/sales support has been great. Other tips: - RSP sells various chemicals you can put in the pool - we asked for Muriatic acid (to balance PH, etc.) once we found out that it's a lot cheaper than the other chemicals (I think they don't sell it as much because people are afraid of acids..) Something to ask for. - If you can, I'd highly recommend Josh Gadbois for the design parts of stuff - he does a great job. His knowledge of the *entire* process and a better understanding of costs would make him the ideal person to work up a quote for your pool. Chip is helpful, and has answers to most questions, but I feel our numbers would have been more accurate at the start if we had started with Josh. - We go to the store that is close to the fairgrounds mostly - so far we're in and out pretty fast and get all our questions answered. They're great answering questions and helping to troubleshoot over the phone as well. read more

Brian was our project manager and he was very much on top of all the details, it has been 5 years and the Pool and Spa looks awesome. I like the service of testing the water on their store, follow by friendly and professional staff who take the time to review results with you. We went to rising Sun pools to look for a hot tub. We enter the store where there were four people behind the counter and no other customers. We told them we wanted to look at the hot tubs and they said go on back and have a look will send somebody back to help you. So we spent 10 minutes looking at hot tubs that do not have any pricing on them. I went back up and asked for assistance and they said someone would be with us shortly. A few minutes later Lady came came back but did not have much knowledge about the spas at all. She gave us pricing that was around 7000 or around 10,000. She really couldn't have cared less. so we decided to leave on the way out I was looking at the Swimming pool rafts and once again we had to find someone to get pricing....c'mon...price your merchandise! Hire associates that actually give a dam Their service was poor at best and their attitude was about the same. I do not plan to return to Rising Sun Pools and I would suggest you steer clear. read more

I can let a lot of things go but we were charged over $500 for work that was not done and we also had to pay someone else to fix what they messed up. Needless to say, we'll never use Rising Sun again. It was really an unbelievably bad experience. I will say that the lady we spoke with seemed to try to fix the problem but nothing significant ever happened - except that our credit card was charged after we had spoken with them and thought it was resolved and would get a more reasonable bill. We decided the amount on money wasn't worth the trouble to fight it but they have definitely lost our future business, as well as 2 other family members' business - 1 is a new build. If there was a way to give 0 stars then I would do it. The service technicians and owner of this company are either dishonest or totally incompetent. Throughout the 2016 pool season we used Rising Sun and had constant problems with our pool chemistry. They kept recommending more and more chemicals at higher and higher costs, which of course we purchased from them. Nothing worked. From doing our own research we suggested that maybe the sand in the filter needed to be replaced but they told us that we were wrong. We spent thousands of dollars with this company and still had constant problems. For the 2017 season we dropped Rising Sun and spent just $200 for another company (Leslie's) to teach us the basics so that we could maintain the pool ourselves. Leslie's recommended replacing the sand (which we suspected before but that Rising Sun advised against). We followed Leslie's instructions and we have been good to go all season. Pathetically BAD customer service. Poor communication, follow-up and sub-standard pool service all around. AVOID!!

Wish I could give them a complete review, however we never got to that point. I've called several times over 3 weeks about putting in a pool, spoken with their very nice assistant Skylar on 2 if not 3 occasions. Was told their designer Chip, would be in contact each time. Well after three+ weeks, He still hasn't been. I don't mind if a company is busy and can't get to a project, heck I had one company flat out tell me they were looking at completions for next June, a year out. And I was in no rush either. But at the very least have the courtesy of calling me back and telling me when we can sit down to have a discussion. Selecting a contractor 101, if you can't get a hold of them in the beginning, how do you think it will go once they have your money?? Best of luck to the rest of you. read more
