Delicious risotto! Dedicated 100% gluten free! Everything on the menu is GLUTEN FREE! We enjoyed the LAMB RAGU risotto and the TRUFFLE risotto (daily special). The lamb ragu was our favorite. It was a fantastic blend of savory flavor. The Truffle risotto was a little bland. It needed some salt and perhaps some fresh herbs. As a dedicated gluten free restaurant, the beer was all gluten free, as well as the lemoncello which was made from a rice based liquor. I ordered the lemoncello and found it to be more cloudy than normal. While it was good, I prefer regular lemoncello made from grain alcohol. We sat outside which was lovely and recommended if not too hot. TIP: Make a reservation. We came without a reservation and luckily were seated, but were told it is important to make reservation in the future. read more

Wonderful experience last night - their food is clearly prepared with a lot of care and love. We got the beef stew risotto and the seafood risotto, and both were very nice. The desserts were the real star - the lemon curd and strawberry dessert was a winner, and the sbrisolona cake with zabione cream will be on my mind for years to come. This place is 100% gluten free/rice based so I LOVE that - thank u! It was also right around the corner from our vacation rental so was super excited to give it a try, especially since I love risotto and love gluten free. The ambiance is okay, nothing special - we sat inside. Server was incredibly rude and dismissive - pretty much threw the bread basket on r table. Their bread is a rice cake and then another rice based bread option that we didn't really enjoy, but appreciated the effort. Not enough for all of us despite charging 2euro/pp for it. Charcuterie was the best part of r meal. Arancini was fine. Ragu and pecorino risotto was very gravy like and not very tasty. Payment is made up front at the register, where they specifically asked us for a cash tip. Was disappointed with the experience as we were so excited to give it a try. I visited Risotteria Melotti during my May 2024 trip to Rome, I wanted to find a good risotto, and after hearing good things about Risotteria Melotti, I decided to give this place a shot. A 100% rice-based and gluten-free restaurant. I was originally refused a table, despite them appearing to have multiple tables empty and told to come back in around half an hour. I decided to have a walk around the area and wait, as I wanted to try this place. I wish I didn't. The interior is fairly small but with cosy vibes, the seats are really uncomfortable though, and I had to stand up during the meal for a minute or two, because of how awful the chair was. With the attitudes of the servers and the uncomfortable seats, I felt like an unwelcomed guest rather than a paying customer. The servers seemed to be doing the bare minimum and weren't too friendly or helpful. They seemed to just place things on the table without seeming too happy to answer questions or even be there. I ordered the saffron and pulled pork risotto after originally struggling with what to order - there were many risotto on the menu which sounded good! I also ordered some arancini on the side. While I was waiting for my food, they brought over some bread for the table. The bread was disgusting and so dry, I ended up having to spit it out and drink some water as it had dried up on my tongue - I had the smallest bite which I spat out, and they still ended up charging us for this on the bill which seemed unfair. I originally thought this was made illegal in the Lazio region, but it was my misunderstanding that only the coperto charge is illegal, which has been replaced by the charge for bread. The risotto was also lacklustre and boring, I couldn't taste anything other than the saffron, and it still tasted a little dry. The pulled pork had some nice flavours to it though, but the meat its-self was chewy, and I was just sucking the meat and spitting it out. The arancini again was dry, and even the sauce served with it, couldn't save it, it just tasted so plain and again I couldn't stomach them. I also noticed the guest next to my table not enjoying her risotto, and she left most of it so it appeared to be an ongoing issue at the time of my visit. Perhaps they were just having a bad day, as there are a good number of positive reviews, but it appeared it wasn't just me leaving hungry and in need of water. If you're coming here because they have a 100% gluten-free menu, don't bother. Italy might just be the best country in the world for delicious and safe gluten-free foods, it might be a safe bet for a very cautious coeliac but it just isn't worth it. Just because a cuisine is rice-based doesn't mean everything has to taste so dry. It was a huge letdown and it's amazing to see Italian food done so badly in Rome nonetheless, especially in a location a short walk away from the touristy bits so it isn't your typical tourist trap. 1* read more

The service was GREAT! It was amazing to learn the history about the restaurant as well. The appetizer we got was AMAZING!!! ONE OF THE BEST TASTINGS WE HAS IN ROME!!! GET IT!!!! It was the Tris of toasted Bread made with Rice flour with - Cacio e Pepe: Pecorino cheese and black Pepper - Amatriciana: Bacon, Tomato sauce and Pecorino cheese - Carbonara: Bacon, Eggs and Pecorino cheese As for the risotto we got Risotto with Basil pesto, Confit Cherry Tomatoes and Stracciatella cheese which was a solid 8/10 and Risotto with Pepper sauce and Gogonzola cheese fondue which was a solid 7/10. If I where to go back I would try the Cacio e Pepe or Carbonara risotto because the sauces in the appetizer where the best we had. read more

A cozy, casual atmosphere and extensive gluten free menu, but service was inattentive and our experience was mediocre at best. As mentioned in Google reviews, the restaurant charges 4€ for a bag containing 2 dry rice cakes and 2 skinny slices of warmed bread... recommend declining before it even comes to the table. My husband enjoyed the soppressa cured meat with fried bread (starter), but this was overpriced at 10€ as well. The beetroot risotto with cream and walnuts was attractive though bland, but my husband's lamb ragù was well seasoned and probably the best dish of the evening. We had to call out for the check at the end as no one was checking in with us. Overall, I can't recommend this place as I think there are much better gluten free experiences in the area. read more

Great risotto and love that everything is gluten free! The bread served is also made from rice and is gluten friendly to eat. We enjoyed the pistachio and ragu risotto. The pistachio is very fragrant and rich, recommend sharing because it's quite filling. The ragu has a nice classic flavor and was a great contrast with the sweeter pistachio option. Felt a little touristy, but it was really good. Don't come here to eat something else, eat risotto at a place where they have risotto in the name. We had the duck orange risotto and the local special, Amatriciana (tomato and bacon), also shared a quarter liter of wine. Both were cooked perfectly, slightly al dente with great flavors with the sauces. The orange was delicate and subtle but very good while the bacon and tomato were in your face and good in another way. I also REALLY enjoyed the puffy rice that came with the bread, it was super fresh and had a slight "gosohan" taste which I only know how to describe in Korean. It's like a very light, subtle nutty taste that I really appreciate. I took one star off because it was pricier than most other places we went to, especially for the wine. We came after a long day of walking and touring the Vatican. It was an easy walk from there. My daughter has celiac disease and we need to eat Gluten-free. The employees were wonderful. We had delicious gluten-free focaccia dipped in olive oil, crostini (varieties with olives, salami and artichoke) and arancini for antipasti and they were all delicious. The restaurant has a great story too. I love Rissoto but I always feel like it would be good to have a little less risotto and some vegetables and a little bit of meat. That is just personal taste. If you're looking for risotto in Rome, look no further. The Risotto all'amatricana is a great, full flavored take on the Roman pasta classic, and the duck and orange risotto is subtle and unique. The dessert ricotta with rice cake was delicious, and the rice based focaccia was amazing. Service is good but a bit forgetful, they forgot our coffee at the end and were apologetic about it. It was prepared properly, the texture was good, but it was simply tasteless, no flavor. We ate here as it was down the stairs from our apartment, but were not impressed. The best part of our meal was the arancini. We ordered some arancini and that was great, but the risotto was below average. We ordered a lemon/shrimp risotto and it had very faint hint of shrimp and mostly acidic flavor, but I guess that the chef did not invite the shrimp to the kitchen as there was no shrimp to be found in the dish. The pesto one was ok, and the one with minced pork and veal was no different than the lemon/shrimp one (faint pork flavor). I guess that the veal and pork were also not invited as minced or not there was no meat to be found in the dish. If you decide to give this place a try, I'd recommend you order the arancini, enjoy it, and go have a meal somewhere else. The service was not memorable either and we waited about 40 min to get our food. The restaurant was not busy... in fact we were in Rome for 2 weeks in the same apartment and this place was never busy... this should have been a hint... Don't waste your time here. read more
