We passed by this restaurant on the way back to the hotel from the Colosseum. After checking that it had good reviews, we decided to have lunch here. My husband ordered the ravioli with a large pint of beer and I ordered the pasta with mushrooms. Service was a bit on the slower side but the pasta tasted fresh and yummy. I was part of a group of 6 Texans who tried this place based upon positive Yelp & Trip Advisor reviews. It was a superb decision. The first impression of the location, decor, and entry was nothing special. The wine and food menus were well worn and laminated. Decor and furniture was unexceptional. We began to question the high social media ratings. However, our waitress (Claudia) changed all that. She started a lively dialog regarding everything on the menu. We selected a bottle of Chianti, and she suggested a different bottle that was better and only 2 euros more. She was dead on. When we later switched to Sicilian Nero d'Avola, she informed us that it would be bolder and stronger than the Chianti we had been drinking, and were we OK with that. She knows her wine. Bottle prices were very reasonable. When the discussion turned to food, she knew the menu cold, told us what she liked best, and led each of us to selections that seemed right. She brought out a few dessert samples to steer us to her recommendations. For Americans ignorant about REAL Italian dishes, all this explaining and guidance was invaluable. Without it, we might have just done lasagna and conventional pasta and really missed an opportunity. We had never heard of rice ball appetizers or anchovies encased in mozzarella. She insisted that we'd like them. We did. Ditto for entrees and desserts. In short, the food was great, the wine selection was solid and very affordable, and Claudia's service was a perfect 10. A little frustrating. The waitress we had required we put in our order all at once including appetizers. She initially insisted we didn't order enough for their restaurant. Service rushed us out as well. Pizza was acceptable but not particularly good. Meatballs were made with a very low fat meat so they were super dry. The highlight was fettuccine with mushrooms over a nice olive oil. The worst part was the "coperto." While it's normal to charge per person, we had a party of four but they seated us at a table of 6 and charged us for all 6 seats and insisted that's how it works. Nicely air conditioned. In passing by this restaurant on a walk in the neighborhood, it looked inviting and welcoming, with its lights and holiday cheer. It didn't disappoint when we decided to stop by for dinner. We were seated right away by a very pleasant gentleman with a warm and genuine smile. The menu had a good selection of non-pasta options, Like swordfish and beef, that looked very appealing. We ordered a salad, pasta pomodoro, meatballs in red sauce and beef with rosemary. The salad was colorful and fresh with various lettuces, corn, olives and fresh tomatoes. The pasta was perfectly cooked, not so "al dente" that it was chewy, and went down easily. The beef was a nice medium cooked steak that was buttery. It was not as trimmed as a cut I might get back home, but the flavor was there! The meatballs were nicely arranged in a pool of sauce with bread arranged around the bowl. My first lunch in Rome didn't disappoint! Restaurant with outside dining along a busy road.. staff was so friendly and engaging. Immediately greeted and served drinks. Birra media... my new favorite saying medium beer. Ice colder .... Mmmmmm I went with a Margherita pizza, it's super thin and so fresh, lol s of flavor in this baby. Loved the outside area. Sadly. Yet another Rome tourist trap that serves "food". Swordfish was hard poorly cut overcooked and old. It was not edible. Pizza is not wood fired but premade and reheated. House wine was barely potable. I wanted to like this place. At least it was air conditioned. read more

We ate here twice on our visit to Rome. First visit was just my husband and I popping in without a reservation. She quickly sat us at a table by the window and brought our drinks without pause. We had mozzarella and prosciutto for appetizer. The size was perfect for two and everything was so fresh! We then split the pasta carbonara which was fabulous. The chef split it to two bowls (nice touch) and flavored perfectly with just the right amount of sauce. Don't miss the tiramisu for dessert. It is untraditionally served in a mug, which gave me pause. However, it too was fresh and every bite had all the flavors together. Perfect! The cost was not too bad either, it was 75€ for appetizer, meal, 4 drinks, dessert and grappa. The second visit was with 8 of us - service was still great and food was again fabulous! read more

Great, English speaking service. Not far from the Colosseum. Vegan options -- the spaghetti and penne are egg-free and the penne arrabbiata is fully vegan! I didn't ask about their vegetable soups, but they might also be vegan. They had salad options too of course. And bruschetta with olive oil as a starter!! The bruschetta was good if slightly less than flavorful. I added salt, but garlic or onion would've taken it over the top! The bread was fresh and delicious though. Definitely worth the €2 for a nice starter. I got the penne arrabbiata which was good! The portion was large for under 10 euro but I wish it had been spicier. My friend got the steak for €14, he said it was pretty good but be warned that it comes with no sides. Just a steak on a plate. The other 2 in our group got ravioli with spinach and loved it--though it's worth noting that the portion was noticeably smaller than my penne. The non-vegans in our party finished with panna cotta and loved it. We all enjoyed our meal! read more

Although the restaurant only had two other parties, we decided to give this place a try. Considering how heavy pasta and pizza is, the three of us shared the Capricciosa Pizza (€9.50) and Spaghetti Carbonara (€9.50) with a bottle of Mineral Water (€2.00). This was the perfect amount for us with no leftovers. The pizza was pretty plain topped with two slices of prosciutto, a few mushroom and olive bites, and one piece of artichoke. Honestly, it was pretty much a cheese pizza. Despite that, the flavor was still good and the crust was thin and crispy. I actually enjoyed the crust most while dipping it into the balsamic vinegar. As for the carbonara, it was more creamy than one I had the night before, so that was a plus. Although still nothing special, but good. Overall, it's just another Italian restaurant along the street of Rome. It's not bad, but not that great either. read more

Out hotel recommended we come over to this area, as it has great food and attracts the locals. My fella was hoping for more traditional pasta and rejected the specific restaurant recos because he didn't like their more modern menus. So, we rounded the block and found this place. Very disappointed. The pastas weren't great. The veal was so tough I had one bite and rejected it. The patio was right on a busy street next to the metro- not a relaxing spot to eat. My recommendation, walk yourself down the metro steps and hit the next street over for food. All restaurants on that strip looked amazing! This was the best pasta I have ever eaten. During our stay my stay, we ate there 3 times. I usually never eat at the same place during vacation, but every time we ate there we were never disappointed. I had the Pizza, Pesto Pasta with chicken and Chicken with Lemon. Everything I ate was amazing. The custom service was excellent and they offer to bring ice and lemons with your water. Being from the USA, we love our ice, so for me that was something I missed in Europe. So far this was the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Highly recommended. The place probably thinks we were crazy, but this restaurant was located right by our hotel, was a good price point for the area and service was great. We are here three nights in a row out of our eight nights in Rome. We had pastas, pizzas, oven roasted chicken, calamari, fish, it was all really, really delicious. I guess there's good and bad in everyone. Or I should say in every restaurant. To start, I had the bruschetta. It's a thick slice of bread topped with fresh tomato, basil and olive oil. The bruschetta was good but the bread was not. It tasted like they use old bread to make it - like from the baskets of bread that previous diners didn't finish. For my main, I ordered the pachino pizza, which was just mozzarella cheese and fresh tomatoes (no sauce). I normally like at least a little bit of sauce on my pizza or else it can be a tad try. But this one was actually pretty good. It's also big enough to share between two people. They didn't have a house wine so we went with the cheapest red. which I remember being about 15 Euros or so. It was fine, nothing special. But I've had house wines from other places that tasted better than this. Service was slow but we wouldn't discover this until about halfway through our meal. Two of my friends ordered chicken, which took a while to come out. That's understandable since it would take longer to make than something like a pizza. But when it finally came out, both of their orders were wrong so we had to put in a second order. From that point on, anytime we tried to get our waiter's attention for something, he would pretend not to see us. This place was delicious, but not worth the price. Our entrees did not wow us, but we were so grateful they were able to seat us on NYE without a reservation. They told us we must order two plates each and that they did not serve pizza. They must get a lot of people who come in for not a lot of food! We had a delicious bottle of wine, two pastas, two entrees, an artichoke, and dessert for about 120€. It was our most expensive and least memorable meal in Rome. This was a place we stumbled upon on the last night of a 15 day trip to Italy. So happy we did, best meal of the trip. Do not remember what my Hubby ordered and devoured but I has the spaghetti carbonara.......splendid !!!! We are not large eaters so very seldom order dessert but this evening we ordered to split the terra cotta WOW....so simple but wonderful.
