What can I say? This is as authentic Italian as you'll find almost anywhere in the U.S. outside of real Italian neighborhoods. I'd give it a 4.8 or 4.9 -- a perfect 5 is basically unobtainable in my book. Ristorante DellaSantina sits on the outskirts of Sevierville / Pigeon Forge, sort of behind Hollywood, perched on a small hillside along the road. It's unassuming. You could drive right past it. The interior is quaint and tastefully done -- simple and clean, the way an Italian restaurant should look. Our host was excellent. The place was a little backed up because some tables were still sitting and talking long after they finished dinner. Please be considerate of people waiting: take the conversation to the bar or head out so the next table can sit. Once we were seated, service moved fast. The staff zipped around with purpose. Appetizers came out quickly, and the entrees were virtually right behind them. The longest wait was the fresh-cut fries -- and they were shockingly worth it. The food is outstanding. Italian cooking varies by city and region, so flavor profiles differ. We started with a salad and the meatballs (get the meatballs). We both ordered chicken Parmesan. My wife had Bolognese on the pasta and tomato-basil on the chicken; I had Bolognese on both. Coming from a heavily Italian area for 60+ years, I've eaten a lot of home-cooked and restaurant Italian. These sauces were perfect to me -- barely acidic, well balanced with herbs, not the sweet style some people prefer. They walk a very fine line. Everything tasted fresh. No commercial junk. Salad was excellent with a great Italian dressing. The meatballs are as good as you'll likely ever get in a restaurant -- maybe even at home. The hand-cut fries were a huge pile (had to be three potatoes) with a slight exterior crisp and an interior like butter. The chicken Parmesan was the best version I've had in 40+ years. My wife loved hers too, even though she usually prefers a slightly sweeter Bolognese. Both plates came with rigatoni cooked al dente. No dessert at the table -- we were already exploding before we finished. If you're traveling, split a plate or you'll be packing leftovers into a hotel mini-fridge. We did grab two custom ice creams from their pizzeria next door and ate them later at the hotel. OMG -- awesome. Same building: thin crust and Chicago-style pizza. We recommend this restaurant with no hesitation. It will likely be the best Italian meal you've had. read more

The best Italian food we've had since moving to East Tennessee from Chicago. We've been searching for an Italian restaurant that really reminded us of the quality and flavor we were used to back home, and that we too cook at home. We finally found it at Ristorante DellaSantina and I can't believe we hadn't heard of this place before! My husband ordered the Filet Special, which came with two 4 oz. filets, shrimp, and a choice of pasta. He chose the capellini with their Valentino sauce, and everything was fantastic. The filets were perfectly tender and seasoned beautifully (enough seasoning to enhance the flavor of the meat without overpowering it). The shrimp and pasta were excellent as well. He also tried the Pecan Old Fashioned, which was definitely on the sweeter side but still very good. It was gentle enough for me to enjoy, although probably a little too bite-free for my husband, who prefers his drinks with a little more punch. He also ordered a blue cheese dirty martini and was thrilled that it was made with real blue cheese. He absolutely loved it. He finished with the salted caramel cappuccino, which was fantastic. I had the lasagna, and it was delicious. The sauce very clearly tasted homemade, and that made all the difference. We each chose the Caesar salad that came with our meals, and it was actually a really pleasant surprise as it was incredibly flavorful and much better than the typical obligatory side salad you get at a restaurant. I also had an espresso martini, and it was perfect. We started with the bruschetta, which was good, but then came a really nice surprise: warm focaccia bread provided complimentary. That focaccia was wonderful and such a thoughtful touch. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu. It was very good, although I personally would have liked a stronger espresso flavor. We also ordered cannolis to take home, so we'll get to enjoy those later! Honestly, I don't have anything bad to say about this restaurant. From the food to the drinks to the little touches, everything felt thoughtful and genuinely well done. Our server Lexus was wonderful. We will absolutely be back. We had a dinner circuit with friends of local eateries and this place landed on the shortlist. DellaSantina has been open for several years and recently added a pizzeria that is completely separate next door. It is away from from the beaten path of the Smokies and they recommend reservations for dinner. Open at 3pm, I called and he gave us a 6:15 time which worked well on a slower Wednesday. The entrance gives way to a nice bar area with a few TVs, booths and white linen tables. We each settled on a bottle of Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio and the mussels appetizer and bruschetta. Our waiter Andrei was professional and prompt. We decided to have a glass of wine and enjoy conversation and our apps without ordering our entrees and expediting the occasion. Andrei checked back several times and kept our waters full and was very patient. We settled on clams fettuccini with a white wine butter sauce and my lady got the mussels in the same sauce. It was a garlic lover's delight and I'm certain I'll never be a vampire. We enjoyed the setting and the atmosphere was relaxed. A liquid dessert pour of tequila and whiskey settled us and we skipped dessert although it was tempting. Overall the prices were a bit higher but the service was excellent and our meal rang true. It was a great first impression and we had leftovers. It will be added into our rotation and look forward to trying other pastas and seafood. read more

The Frutti di Mare is phenomenal!!! We happened upon this wonderful location by watching "Adventure is Out There" on YouTube. Totally off the beaten path, and so worth it. Just when you think you're lost, you arrive. The Focaccia bread that is served really good. Suggest getting marina as opposed to olive oil for dipping. The meatball was nice sized (big enough to share) and marinara sauce was really good. The Frutti di Mare was suggested by our waiter Anthony (very knowledgeable about the menu and offerings) to use white wine sauce. It was a great suggestion. The ingredients were obviously fresh and the portion size was easily shareable. We shared a Tiramisu. And let me preface that my wife has never liked this dessert. But the YouTube review swayed her perspective. And she loved it. You can tell that it's a labor to make (we talked to the owner's wife and she concurred). Well, I just don't know what I'm gonna do for Italian food anymore. This place has ruined all other Italian restaurants for me. I'm quite certain I'll never find the quality and taste profile that matches DellaSantina. We were able to walk in and sit at the bar right away with no wait. We were greeted immediately by Anthony asking if he could bring us something to drink, we got water to start. Then Ben the bartender took our order for drinks and food. Every staff member was truly welcoming and friendly. We had the Giafranco salad to start. Our entrées were Chicken Parm and the Frutti De Mare. Both entrees were the best we've ever had. And we have had a lot. We finished with chocolate martinis and the tiramisu. Chocolate martinis, we've had a lot in our days very very many days and again these were the best we've ever had. Family owned Italian restaurant was not what I normally put on my dining list when I'm in the mountains but I'm glad I did. My choice was influenced by herring their seafood is flown in 3 times a week. My wife chose the Lamb chops that were melt in your mouth perfectly done. From the moment we walked in to see white table clothes, fresh roses at the table and candlelight we were wowed! I was a bit hesitant at first because of having two young kids in our party but were welcomed warmly by staff. We were very impressed to find out that all of their food is very fresh and organic when possible. The staff are amazing and very knowledgeable of the menu/restaurant! I had the lobster ravioli and a caeser salad, both were absolutely incredible. For dessert I tried the three chocolate mousse with hazelnut crunch , the waitress told us that these are flown in from Italy, very tasty! I love coming here whenever I am looking for Italian near Pigeon Forge! I would say it is the best Italian in Sevier County. I usually get the Ceasar Chicken Salad with a side of Alfredo pasta. I used to do the reverse, but the Alfredo can be rich for a larger main. It is so delicious! It is a very secluded restaurant, and I feel like if I wasn't looking for it I wouldn't have found it. But the service has always been quick and we have had good luck getting a table when we arrive. It is small restaurant, but has a very intimate feeling. This was one of difficult places to get reservations at the last minute. We enjoyed the food, loved the idea that it was all organic ingredients. The ambiance is nice upscale Italian. Outside feels like nothing and there is a pizzeria by the same name but don't get confused and come into the restaurant instead. We enjoyed ravioli, salad and soup of the day. Kids pasta didn't turn out as great for some reason. Kids really loved to find a new drink Limonata (San Pellegrino makes these - it is lime flavored soda). We enjoyed everything about this restaurant. I had the pasta with tomato basil sauce and my husband had the lasagna. Both were delicious, as was the lemon cake we shared for dessert. The focaccia bread served with the meal was also quite good and far better than what I've had at other restaurants. Restaurant is a little off beaten path from the busy streets of Pigeon Forge but close enough to make it worth your efforts to experience a great local spot. I am not a deep-dish expert but ha e had many in my travels. My expectations were nit met, the pizza flavor was good but tasted like it was a frozen pizza ( i have had Chicago deep dish shipped from Giordano's overnight) and it was barley warm when i hit back to hse (10 min away). But again, when finally mentioned they reduced the price of a dessert. The pastas (alfredo, and Valentino rigatoni) were good. Starters were not good, bruschetta and the caprese, the mozzarella was not tasting fresh or soft. The mocktail I had (mango) and cocktail (elder flower one) was good. The pesto was fresh and obviously made in house. The mussels were tender and the wine sauce was creamy with a very delicate flavor. We also had the spumoni ice cream and the lemon marscyepone cake. Both flown in from a bakery in Italy and it shows. I have rarely been to a place in Tennessee where the hit all the notes and this place does. It's affordable for a restaurant of this caliber, the decor is nice, and the food is some of the best Italian food I have ever gotten from a restaurant. We had been seeing the owner post about this restaurant for at least a year on various Facebook pages but we live over an hour away so it's pretty far. We were in the area for free movie tickets so we thought we would try them out finally. My hubby is Italian so he's pretty picky and we've had pretty bad luck in Knoxville, even at the top rated places. First off, the server, Lexus/Lexis (sorry, I don't know the spelling) was fantastic. On the ball, friendly, but not overbearing. We went early at 5 so it was still pretty quiet which is what we wanted. Place looks like it's under construction outside but inside it is very nice. Classy but casual. You could come in business casual or jeans and a T-shirt and feel at home. All of the sauces are homemade which is great and the dessert is made in house too. We had the caprese which came with homemade focaccia bread and it was great. Nice portion too. We shared the chicken Parm for dinner and we still took home the entire pasta portion. It was huge. My hubby said the minestrone soup (although lacking any pasta) was the best he's ever had and each individual veggie was cooked to perfection for its type. I'm obsessed with tiramisu so we finished dinner with that and while one was big enough for both of us, it was perfection and we wanted more. We ate here for the first time today. The bread was complimentary and it was delicious. I had the shrimp fettuccini, the shrimp tasted like it was fresh and the Alfredo sauce tasted homemade to. The portion was nice, I ended up taking about half back home. My son had the chicken parmigiana and his eye lit up when the waitress sat it down. It was a very generous portion, and it was arranged neatly on plate. I had to try the pasta sauce on his, it was delicious. It didn't taste like anything out of a jar. They had a great wine list, the drink special today was a chocolate Dubai martini. I did not try it but they offered quite a few specialty drinks. With the food, you could receive either salad or soup. I had the Ceaser salad and the dressing was great. My son had Minestrone soup, and it was also very flavorful. Delicious food and great service! We pulled in after a very long drive from Detroit. This was the closest restaurant to our cabin so we stopped in on a whim for dinner. So glad we did! We both had lattes (vanilla and caramel) and they were great. The grilled chicken with rigatoni and meat sauce was excellent as was the Italian wedding soup. The steak and breaded shrimp were also excellent. Tourists, get out of the chaos and get into the mountains cause there's some good vittles here! read more
