I like to come here whenever I'm back in Vienna. The food is amazing. They always have some special pasta options. The portions are generous and everything is oh so good. This time, we had truffle pasta with beef filet, creamy truffle pasta, the Branzino fish, and risotto. We all loved the food! The service is ok. I mean, it's part of Viennese culture to be a little grumpy, perhaps less in an Italian restaurant, but it's still in the heart of Vienna. However, this particular time, they forgot our reservation and had only a table left downstairs. Since one of us is elderly and couldn't walk the stairs, other guests, who just arrived, traded with us. That was heartwarming. Sooooo good! Amazing service from staff and superior Italian food in the heart of Vienna. Im not lying when I say our pasta was some of the best we have ever had in our life! I cannot recommend the truffle pasta and the ravioli enough. We also got some bread with their house oils. The house chili oil was actually spicy and was delicious. This restaurant was amazing! The server was the best , so funny and attentive and answered all of our questions and requests. I ordered the pomodoro pasta and added Buffalo mozzarella on top. Service was terrible. My meal was served. 0ver 30 minutes later and my husband still didn't have his meal. We eventually shared the one entree. Prices were too high for what you got. Overall, OK experience. Have tried this restaurant twice since being in Vienna. If I could rate separately the food would receive 4 stars and the service would get 2. The first trip we were seated outside - it look a long time to place our order with our waiter. We started with an order of shrimp scampi and the waiter was nice enough to come back outside afterwards and tell us that he didn't think it was what we wanted. We had ordered a shrimp app where the shrimp heads came with it! We switched this to a version where it's just the shrimp meat. We also got an order of bruschetta with our meal. For my main course I got homemade meat ravioli with a mushroom cream sauce - very good. It took a while to then get our check but this is common in Vienna. Second trip to the restaurant we were first seated on the main floor but WARNING: this is a smoking floor! We were then asked to move to the non-smoking section which is downstairs. The waiter laughed at my mother when she ordered spaghetti Bolognese and the manager kept coming around clearly not saying the best things about us in a language he knew we didn't speak. So overall not the best service. If bad service doesn't bother you the food was pretty good and the restaurant is in a good location. We got an order of bruschetta to share. I ordered a special - pasta with beef tenderloin, tomato sauce, and truffle oil. My Mom ordered Bolognese. Portions were a bit small. I went here with my family and it was the best service! Our waiter was extremely attentive and made helpful recommendations. The Arrabbiata pasta was truly one of the best I have had. Service here was awful and things took forever!!!! The server was rude too. He asked us where we were from and when we told him, he straight up argued with us!! The food was way overpriced and it was so mediocre. The only upside was the pasta was a good portion! It was large even though it was just bland. The pesto garlic bread was odd. It was just logs. It was interesting but I wouldn't get it again... The one good thing about it was its portion. It was big! We ordered the carpaccio and it was bland !! The pizza was okay as well. We stumbled upon Fratelli after walking around in Stephanplatz area looking for food. Saw outdoor seating under huge umbreallas and decided to try it. We sat under the outside under umbrellas and heat lamps. Probably got a bit of a suntan while eating. Having been raised in New York where the Itialian food is 2nd only to Italy itself, the food at Fratelli was good, not really memorable (sorry). But I don't think you should run away, maybe just keep walking since there are so many good restaurants in Vienna. As a starter I had a tomato salad which was OK and had enough onion slices to kill a man (or anyone around him). I then went for a personal "Quattro Stagione" pizza which turned out to be pretty large but good and which only had "Tre" Stagione by my count. Overall, just OK. read more

Smoking section at the entrance floor. The underground floor, which is larger and quiter, has been dedicated to non-smokers. At first, our dear italian waiter did not want to show us the non smoking section (probably trying to avoid a few steps whilst serving). Then it turned out that the underground floor was dedicated to waiters' families and kids!! Poor 3G reception on all areas. No wifi connection available. There was a bucket under the dripping washbasin in the bathroom. Looks like repair not budgeted for current year... Cables and funny devices popping out of the walls etc. The level of maintenance is close to none. After you got served your last dish, do not expect further attention. We had to go upstairs to ask for the bill. Payment was another story. This is exactly what happened: the waiter inserted my credit card into the POS device, punched in the amount (53€), asked me to insert PIN, took the device back, hit YES for tip, and asked me whether 5 EUR was OK as tip! This must be the Italian style self-tipping :-) I would recommend this place ONLY if you are interested about eating tasty food. If you care about service, STAY AWAY! read more

This is in a high walked small triangular courtyard just off the major north-south pedestrian street in Vienna. It is about half a block from the Tortoni Tortoni ice cream shop. Because of the high walls there is basically no sun in this area for a large portion of the day which makes it cooler than most of the outdoor restaurants in the area. During the day they had cooling misters on which kept it even cooler but they were off by the time we arrived for dinner at 7 PM. The staff was very cordial and provided good service. We started with a Hugo spritzer, some beer and a peach bellini. All were very good. One of us had the picante pizza, which at good spice level on its own but was really fired up with addition of the hot pepper oil that was served in a gravy boat. Those sliced tiny red peppers, which looked like fresh Thai bird chilis, were really super hot!One of us had the shrimp with fettuccine and that was very flavorful as well. The spaghetti with tomato sauce was light with just enough garlic flavor. One of us was interested in grappa and the server brought up two large bottles to sniff so that we could decide which one to choose. For four of us, with four entrées, and drinks it was roughly €100 with tax. Fairly good deal given the location of this restaurant. The food was excellent and others have complained about the server but ours was very attentive and very nice. read more

While visiting Vienna we came across Ristorante Fratelli. The food was delicious and the service was great! Couldn't say anything bad about this restaurant. We got the Pizza Picante, the Pappardelle Bolognese, and Pasta with Gorgonzola and Rockets. So so good! read more

I visited Ristorante Fratelli in December and wanted to share my brief review in case someone like me who doesn't speak German is looking for a good place to eat in Vienna. The restaurant was warm and friendly. Staff was very pleasant. The menu was easy to read since it was in Italian and most Americans are used to reading Italian menus (pizza quattro formaggi, etc.). Their gnocchi was delightful. My husband had the tagliatelle alla bolognese and loved it, too. Definitely recommend this place for a nice Italian meal in Vienna/Wien! I bet it would be fantastic in the summer when the outdoor seating is available. read more

Food was good but we had the worst experience ever just two tables from us. This very rude guy, with Russian accent, was looking for trouble and making a lot of noise, getting into arguments with the waiters and bringing bouncer like guys to his table. We even saw a guy come and deliver a thick pack of bills to the guy in what seemed a weird cash transaction just in front of us. And the guy had mobile speakers and putting loud music. To our surprise, when we asked our waiter who the guy was, he said it was THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT. Top service, top food (had a steak, rare) and it was perfect. We were 22 people and all of us where caterede and serviced with 3+ waitors. Took a chance with the wine, on recomendation from the waitor and it payed out. Great wine and great entrees as well. The restaurant is very nice, clean and with a lot of italy in it. We were seated in the basement which was a great place to be, regarding the number og people we were. I'll come again for sure. Amazing food, ambiance, and sevice.. but when it came to tips, back in my country, we tip like 10% of the bill and by courtesy, the waiter always return the change even if it equals the tip percentage.. But at this restaurant they embarrassed the group by their strategy which i personally hated. They shouldnt expect us to leave for 132 euros like 23 euros as tip bcs this certainly exceed the tip limit and put the client in a kind of a humiliated position. If the tip is 10%, then give back the change and make sure we r not leaving without keeping the 10% tips because we believe that it is ur absolute right. But leave us the choice and dont take the tip that u like and which is not ur 10%. Thank you read more

Food was very good but service extremely poor. Waiters were rude and inattentive. We were kept waiting for nearly 40 minutes between receiving desert menus and being able to order and then I had to almost physically stop the waiter. The final straw was when he presented the bill and pointedly told us that a tip was not included as if he had worked for it. I normally tip between 10% and 20% depending on level of service. Extremly bad food, very long waiting times! +rude waitors! There are so many better places like danieli or Regina Margherita!
