First: Maybe the most important thing to say off the bat is that the Rite Aid employees in the store are the absolute best. The pharmacy is a giant mess, but the front end employees are always patient, kind, and helpful despite what must feel like a whole other job having to field angry questions and commentary from customers needing the pharmacy. The store always looks great-- well stocked and clean, while (of course!) the employees are so helpful. However... The pharmacy is A MESS!! In the last few months, I've called with a moderately important question--in the middle of the week--only to get a message that "due to unforseen circumstances, the pharmacy is closed." On many weekends, the pharmacy has closed hours earlier than advertised or not been open at all. This is a PHARMACY. It's not a candy shop or The Gap where I could wait on a box of assorted truffles or a boring button-down. I have needed medication that, if I don't have it, makes me sick-- or sicker. It's dangerous for me to be without meds. I'm very concerned about elderly populations or folks who rely on this store because they cannot go elsewhere. There may be no one who can help them find emergency medication until the pharmacy reopens (whenever that happens?). I am very sympathetic to staffing shortages due to Covid or other illnesses. However, other pharmacies are able to remain open, likely because their company has made contingency plans. Other Rite Aids do this successfully. Bellefonte Rite Aid does not. Where is the corporate accountability? Were it a problem once or even twice, okay. But this store (rather, who is in charge of the store) puts its customers in serious, potentially life -threatening jeopardy. I can't go lower than two stars because I have to acknowledge the employees who deal with this act keep the rest of the store up and running. I'd give them 5 stars. read more

Pretty disappointed with my experience with the pharmacy so far. Their lack of communication regarding status of prescription is ridiculous. I've had to stop by the pharmacy to check the status because even though I signed up for the texts. When I've called in whoever I've spoken to to check the status of my prescription was very rude. Had to wait over a week for a prescription to be filled. I'm really bummed this is how my first experiences with this pharmacy are going. It's a very convenient location and their hours are great but I've been considering transferring due to this. read more

I'm not sure you could really call this a drugstore. Just try to get prescription medication here. The pharmacy is never open. It's not open when it's supposed to be according to the internet. I'm so tired of trying to guess when I can get my meds. I'm tired of making useless trips to get my meds. Maybe this is why they are going bankrupt. read more

I went in for one thing and found a few more. at checkout it turned out that to get the sale items I had tie my health record to the purchases. So, I left a few things on the counter. there is more fine print. they attempt to get not just payment in $ but payment in information out of you. really, I should be buying my vitamins at Weis where they just give you a store card at check out. checkout was friendly and apologetic though. She would not let me use her card or give me her personal information. read more

not worth details. idk if it's training or lack of ownership for mistakes but pharmacy is way past sub par and you're better off getting to the next town over for help. nice enough staff but eventually you will find your own time more valuable than your patients for incompetence or lack of trying. the problem is higher up the chain. I love this pharmacy! They have a convenient location, great staff, a very comfortable waiting area inside (complete with multiple chairs & magazines), and they have a DRIVE THROUGH! How awesome is that?!?! The pharmacy also offers an automatic refill program, however, I will say that you need to keep an eye out for any medications that you don't get because some of mine didn't get put on the auto refill when the prescriptions were renewed by my doctor and I went without some of my meds because I wasn't paying attention. Lately every time I visit this pharmacy the drive thru is closed, my meds aren't ready, lines are long.......I call in my script the day before it needs picked up and it is never ready by the time the automated message states it will be. Another time, I got an automated message the day after I called my script in that stated they needed to verify info before the script would be filled, called the pharmacy and was told that was an error and my script must have been placed in "deferred" status. Every prescription pick up takes at least 15-20 minutes. Very frustrating. Seems this location has gone down hill rapidly over the last 6 months. Will take my business elsewhere, sick of hearing "Sorry, we got busy" every time I visit the pharmacy! read more

I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about Rite Aid the store. The "store" employees get a 5 for helpfulness and overall maybe a 4 for giving a truly friendly attitude and smile. One or 2 could work on that. Now, the "pharmacy section" is different, most behind counter get a 2-3 for friendly/smiles, except the pharmacists....they ALL get a 5!!!! There are 2 who are fabulous and should get raises because they go above and beyond, which means a lot!!!! The employees (other than pharmacists) should try harder to keep an eye on "drop off", and "checkout" and could smile more and be a bit more attentive to whether or not someone is waiting, see them almost acting as if they are busy, but chat a bit too much. The pharmacist is ALWAYS busy; plus, it's not his job. He's there to concentrate filling things ACCURATELY, NO mistakes, and EVERY SINGLE pharmacist I have dealt with in last several years has been GREAT! Extremely helpful. When dealing with pharmacy employees, I find myself having to repeat a lot when I go in or call in; not sure what they are thinking about or aren't prepared when phone rings or to make eye contact and actually "listen". They just act like they don't like their job. For those people, I recommend find what you enjoy doing or fixing whatever is bothering them. OVERALL, I love the store, the pharmacists especially. Even in State College, the pharmacists seem to really care from my experience with the ones I have had. Love Rite Aid sales too. The store has a "welcoming feel" to it. Fairly organized. I don't feel that at CVS, Walgreens, Wmart, etc. read more
