This store is perpetually understaffed. There is always a line at checkout. The other day I was there and a fellow customer gestured to a man, she said "he's the manager" as I watched him walk behind the registers and then leave. Meanwhile there is a long line of customers and one checker. I shop here because it's close but I always expect to wait. The staff always seems stressed. This is the worst pharmacy I have ever used. I was recently released from the hospital and went immediately to Rite Aid at the Del Monte Mall to get my prescriptions; they wouldn't fill the prescription because they read it wrong and mistakenly thought the doctor wanted the prescription filled at a later date (only one of the medicines was post-dated). They wouldn't listen to me and told me to come back another day. I was going through a bad reaction due to not getting the medicine and came back and demanded they look more carefully and finally they filled part of the prescription. But the last part of the prescription was Vitamin D2 and I was told they would text me when I was able to get it. They never called. I waited and eventually called, and was told that they didn't have a prescription for me for Vitamin D2. I pressed them to look more carefully and then they said that they needed to hear from the doctor to confirm because it was a large dose. I asked if they could call and they said they had left messages and hadn't heard back; yet, they had never told me anything about this before! I still don't have the Vitamin D2 and it is important in terms of preventing side effects from the other medicine! This pharmacy is unprofessional and incompetent and I would urge residents to look elsewhere. read more

I'm at the Rite Aide right now and I've been waiting over an hour. They just told me they can't find my prescription (Doctor called in meds for my daughter this morning) because their voicemail has 30 voicemails on it. It's now 10 minutes later and they said the did in fact find the message. Now it's 10 minutes and still not filled. It's 10 after 6PM and they close at 6. Fingers crossed my daughter gets her antibiotics today. Additionally, there was a long line while I have been waiting. This is a busy pharmacy. I switched to another pharmacy 3 years ago because of the long wait and general disorganization but it's never been this bad. They need to seriously get a better system. read more

I go here pretty often since I work at the mall, most staff is super nice and helpful, this location is pretty well stocked everywhere but the fridge food- great deals (especially on protein powder and preworkout). However, when I went in today, the young lady taking care of me was super sweet and kind, yet there was another lady (I'm guessing manager) that came over and was being kind of rude and disrespectful towards the employee. Hopefully there is better treatment of employees soon. read more

I was in the store for a small purchase and as I was waiting in line the woman in front of me told me "you know you don't have to wear a mask" told her I choose to and her reply "oh you're one of those insecure". Told her I'm not nice words to mind her own business, she proceeded to name calling and again I was not nice at all, said things I probably should not have told her to shut up she just kept on, cashier said to stop, keep it down if which I told him to tell her to shut up. Never said a word to her, called up another cashier to get me out of the store. I have the right to wear or not wear a mask. All employees were wearing masks. We went to this location for ice cream. There was one cashier working the entire store. He told us we'd have to wait until someone else got back from break. After waiting 10 minutes we waited in the checkout line and asked him if he could scoop ice cream. The cashier wouldn't come over from the main cashier area even after we had waited in line. He was rude and we ended up walking out after 15 minutes. read more

I really should not give this store even one star as I just left and called the manager. I went to the checkout, they have plexi glass to protect the cashier with a big whole in the bottom to put your items thru for the checker to scan. Then there is a break in the glass where the credit card machine is and where the checker stands a good 8 inch opening. I have a mask on and gloves. The dude coughs right at me, a big huge cough, he did not cover his mouth or cough into his arm. He just let it it rip right at me. I didn't have glasses on, just a mask...but what's the point when someone coughs in your face and all over your items. The manager said he can't force his employees to wear a mask. The mask protects me from jerks coughing in my face. We were all told to wear masks in public...that should include workers who work in the public. I am over 65 and it is no joke if we get the virus from people who are working and coughing and going around when they might be sick. I love this place! It's enormous. They have everything from furniture to post cards, a pharmacy AND an ice cream shop, alcohol, coffee, candy, groceries, hats, etc! The staff are 95% of the time extremely friendly and very efficient. I've never seen anymore (before moving to this state) work TWO registers at the same time. It's amazing. They are also very patient when the lines get long and quick to call up more people (if they have them at the store). We often overhear & get into interesting convos with the clerks. Shopping here is a really pleasant experience - I'd HIGHLY recommend it! It's just large enough so you know you can get whatever you need but not overwhelmingly sized like a Target or a Walmart. read more

If you have a pet you love like a family member, absolutely avoid this place for pet medications. We have a cat that is having some respiratory issues and our vet prescribed some antibiotics for him. We had the RX filled the first time and all was fine. We went back for a refill. It is a combo of a couple meds and some water. When I opened it it was a distinctly different color and much thicker. I called the vet and she said to bring it in. Took it right over to her and her immediate comment was "you have a very good eye. Do not give this to him. Take it back and have them refill it properly. I took it right back, told the pharmacist (who had mixed it originally) and he immediately refused to refill it saying it wasn't wrong. He didn't even check anything to verify his opinion. I told him the doctor said it was wrong and his reply was "I'm a doctor too". I guess that blesses him against making a mistake. I called the vet and she said she would call him. She called back and said she got the same attitude from him and was terribly frustrated by his treatment. I will never enter another Rite Aid and my hope is that this post will help save someone's loved pet. The most amazing thing is it has taken this long for this store to go bankrupt. Quick and painless return here... a while back I bought a leash for my black lab Bixby (well he doesn't live with me but he's a local) and when I got home I realized it was a collar and not a leash. My dog weighed over 120lbs at one point so he has a big neck among other big body parts ... So I'm not sure how I thought this huge necklace-like choker was big enough to tow his body weight is beyond me. The return process has been simplified and is super convenient here. Just a swipe of your DL and that's it. I was out the door in minutes even with a "new cashier" behind the counter. Thanks guys! Love your brightly lit store. Wakes me up every time. read more

Actually this place deserves NO STARS. They promise automatic refills, Did not happen. They failed to contact my doctor in time for a refill, then when 2 days late on starting my medication, they got the fax from the doctor, they did not have my medication available. They don't know the concept of customer service, rude, unprofessional, arguing with me that they did what they had to do, no regard to the fact that this is a medication that needs to be taken on a specific date. They had no appology for failing to provide the basic service they should be providing. Or at least be courteous and behave like professionals and a acknowledge that they messed up. This is by-far the best Rite Aid I have ever been too; not only does this have the quickest service (you are rarely put on hold) but everyone is so incredibly kind and genuinely wants to help you. I recently went to the Rite Aid in Beverly Hills and long story short they were going to charge me for the 3 pills they gave me out of 30. That meant that since they billed my insurance the other 27 pills would cost around $100 when they would normally be free. Grace in the Monterey Rite Aid has been an enormous help. She called my insurance to ask if they could give me an override, and when that didn't work she tried to find me a cheaper way for me to get my medicine. She went out of her way to help me even though she didn't have to do so. I wish all Rite Aids had the staff this one has. read more

I had a pleasant experience at this Rite Aid. We just ran in to get a brush that we forgot to pack for our vacation. The store is clean and organized, so we were able to find our item easily. Checkout was painless also. The lady checking was super nice and fun to talk to. We exchanged pleasantries and a couple laughs (wow, how cheesy was that sentence - true though). A gallon of milk and a dozen eggs are $2.99 each, you can also find whatever over the counter medicine you need, various sundries, and all sorts of nick-nacks and seen-on-tv items. The store is well lit and the staff are friendly. While the prices aren't the best, the store has a variety of items and if you had special needs and time to only hit one store, chances are this place is the best bet in town. We had a family member get a flu shot here and the wait was a bit long. The pharmacist was very well spoken and friendly, even put up with our silly banter. They accept a wide range of healthcare plans, but I'd suggest calling first and double checking to make sure you're covered before you take the time to wait in line. read more

Took me 20+ minutes to get a prescription filled here, which I found kind of annoying. They had a lot of questions for me, even though it seemed like they should have been able to work it out amongst themselves.The pharmacists were nice, but not so organized, and seemed to have a lot of work to do amongst the two of them. Maybe I went on a bad day...? Otherwise, good location with parking (when there's not too much mall traffic) and plenty of stock to browse in the aisles while you're waiting. read more

I am giving your location one star based on your staff, especially the pudgy woman who was at the ice cream counter today. Talk about RUDE! My friends and I were just craving a sweet treat after a long day, and this disgruntled woman walks up and asks if we were ready... We were NOT as we had just arrived. So she sighs and goes on to the next customer... They asked for a sample to which she replied she did not have time for that. WOW, REALLY? Pretty sure that's in your job description! So, he leaves because she was being a royal b, and comes back to us. She rushed us, and just acted like she wanted to go in the back room and talk on her phone. She doesn't know anything about cleanliness or allergies, as she did not rinse off or even attempt to clean the scooper in between customers. Great job Rite Aid, you hire quality staff! read more

This has to be one of the worst drugstores, I have ever encountered. That includes the pharmacy and the store. I can call a prescription in on a Monday, for a Saturday pick-up, and it won't be ready. The people are rude, and they are always out of stock on medications?????? As for the store itself, no air conditioning. I was in there yesterday and it was so hot in there, that the checker was sweating profusely. THEN my card was declined, they claimed. Yelled it across the store. I asked to see the manager as I knew I had $2000 on that card. The manager YELLS in front of customers, It is on your bank's end, NOT ours. I went off to the side and called my bank. They said it went through on their end and nothing wrong with my card or funds. I told the manager while the bank was still on the phone. She said, NOTHING WE CAN DO. I was so hot and angry and the bank was listening to this. The bank said to have them enter the #'s manually. The manager said, "we cannot do that???" In the meantime, one of the workers was telling her something, maybe how to do it. Plus, if you work with computers or electronic equipment, you know that they do not function well in heat. I told her this. The bank agreed. In the meantime, the manager was entering the card manually AND yelled at me to come and sign! I asked where the other manager went to, a male who I talked to before. She said, he got canned!?!?!? After over an hour in the store and sweating so bad, I told her, how professional her statement was......not! I then left the store. I will be looking for another store for sure. I was sure to thank my bank for staying on the phone with me, the whole time. Please do not walk away from this place.....RUN!! read more

I went in to buy a pack of smokes. My ID was in my car on the other side of the mall. When I told her I didn't have it she told me she couldn't sell it to me, I told her I would understand if I was within 20 years of being of legal age, but being in my 40's, it didn't make sense. She told me I could ask the manager. I told her yes please and the manager from at least 30 feet away said absolutely not rudely without explanation. When I started to ask why, she cut me off and said absolutely not once again. If it is rite aid policy, I would understand, but at least let me know if that is the case and do it politely. read more

I was just in the store stood in line and the cashier coughed without covering his face. He wore no mask and the person in front of me had a mask on and gloves but while she was paying with a credit card the cashier coughed and it went all over the place including the credit card machine. I was stunned. I put my potential purchases on the cart going out of the store and left. I wear gloves and my mask as does most everyone else I passed in the store. So does that plexiglass that is put up at the cashiers station serve as a precaution for potential spread of the COVID-19 virus when you cough or sneeze?The fact that there is a big hole where you pass your stuff thru on the counter and no coverage for the credit card machine from where the cashier stands I think it's really useless. I purposely went into the store after making sure the parking lot was not full as I am in my 70s and can't afford to get the virus. So I'm extremely careful and yet these big stores could care less by allowing their employees to go to work sick and work around the public without masks. He not only coughed all over the place but on the items that the lady in front of me had paid for. He then handed her the bag and didn't try to wipe anything down. I just stood there at the six foot marker and he coughed again. So it's not worth taking any chances for me to purchase what I needed. I will never go into that store again. read more

I'm mainly writing this review for the Thrifty's ice cream here. The rest of the store is always clean and well-kept, and the stock is usually pretty good even during sales. For example, when they have the cans of Arizona on sale, I can always get as many as I want. They always stock an extra end cap with them. Anyway! If you're in the Del Monte Center, and you want some ice cream, I'd recommend Rite Aid over Cold Stone. As great as Cold Stone is, their prices are always sky-high. Rite Aid won't mix in toppings for you like Cold Stone does, obviously, but their ice cream is so good on it's own, I don't care. Plus, you can get a waffle cone with three scoops of ice cream for $4! Or, if you want less, I think a scoop in a regular cone is $1.69 and two scoops are like $2.50 or something. Wayyy cheaper than Cold Stone, and the flavors are still good, as I've said. The chocolate malted crunch is by far my favorite ice cream, and I always get at least a scoop of that when I come here. It's delicious! The only downside, I guess, is that sometimes you have to wait a bit for the ice cream person to come help you, but it's not really a big deal. Also, even though the store is a little bit away from the main part of the DMC, you can always stop by at the Petco next door and see some cute puppies while you're over there. :) read more

Absolutely horrible!!! If I could give zero stars I would! Yesterday I went to the pharmacy and I was there at 9 o'clock when they opened because I need to be at work at 9:30, The pharmacy technician rolled the doors up at five after nine and then told me I needed to wait because he needed the Count his register. The pharmacy is supposed open at nine, that means he needs to get there early, count his drawer and roll those doors up and be ready to go at nine.... One day later I go to AAA to get an International drivers license, they tell me I need to go to Rite Aid to get a passport picture taken. I go there and they tell me their camera is not working and the girl tells me it's never working but she tells me I can go to the Rite Aid in Pacific Grove because they do it there as well, I contacted the Rite Aid before driving over there and the girl tells me that their camera is broken as well, I asked to speak to the manager and The manager says oh, we never offer that service here but in actuality she just has never told corporate to get the damn camera fixed.... this place is an absolute joke... go to Walgreens on Alvarado Street, much better corporation that has it together... read more

They always tell you it's an hour wait for a prescription. Doctors on duty called in pain meds to Rite Aid (Monterey-Munras) for injured back (workman's comp). Get there with the paperwork, India girl says I need to fill out paperwork and takes a couple of days to process, really? Had doctor call into CVS Monterey, 10 min I was on my home with meds. CVS rocks! New customer for sure! read more

It's really sad that the pharmacy and the store are combined because if the rating was just the store, I'd give it a 5. The workers are lovely, and the store is always stocked and clean. This rating is for the pharmacy, which I would give a zero star if I could. So I'll make the overall rate of 2 since I primarily went here for the pharmacy. About a year ago, I had extensive inside abdominal surgery, and my dr warned me, pharmacies usually do not have such high doses of liquid narcotics on hand, so you will have to go there and make sure they order it before surgery. I went to this pharmacy, and the Asian female pharmacist treated me like a complete addict, indirectly questioning the need, reason, dose, and type of pain medication that was ordered. I found this super offensive. Mind you, I do not have a history of ordering/ being prescribed any narcotics from any pharmacy in the whole US except for 10 years ago when I got my wisdom teeth pulled. She needs to know her place. They obviously didn't have what I needed, so she tried to pawn my order to the Alvarado street rite aid knowing full well they would not have it either. She never even offered to order it. I demanded she order it. It's like, do your job. You were so concerned 10 minutes ago why I needed such a high dose of narcotics. About a week later, I went to pick it up and the white male pharmacist was lovely, making sure that I took the doses accurately because it was such a high dose. But what really irritates me, is I'm 31 and have thyroid disease really bad. If I do not get my synthroid, because my thyroid does not produce enough hormones, I feel like garbage after about three days (it's a daily hormone replacement pill). So it's really important that I get it. I never got notices when it was filled. I was on automatic refill with text alert. Nothing. That's ok, I'm sure cvs or Walgreens will refill my prescriptions right and send notice. read more
