Located in the heart of Squirrel Hill, a bustling neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, lies a Rite Aid that I've frequented during my visits to the area. Situated on Murray Avenue, this pharmacy has been a convenient stop for my family's needs, especially when it comes to grabbing essentials for my children. I recall a time when my son was feeling under the weather, and I needed to get him some Gatorade and cough drops. I quickly made my way to the Rite Aid, assuming they would have the items I needed. However, as I stepped inside, I noticed that the store seemed a bit lackluster compared to its usual appearance. The shelves weren't fully stocked, and there was an air of disorganization that I hadn't experienced during my previous visits. Rite Aid drugstores filed for bankruptcy 10 months ago. Since that time, stores have been closing at a rapid rate and many that are still open are filled with empty shelves. So some of the issues here are expected.  Navigating through the aisles, I eventually found the Gatorade and but not the cough drops that I was looking for. The checkout process was smooth, but I couldn't help but wonder about the store's current state. It appeared that the Rite Aid was going through some issues.  This Rite Aide is in my daughter's neighborhood and I usually stop in here on my visits to Pittsburgh. This time I needed to get some Gatorade for #1 son and some cough drops as he was coming down with sniffles on my last day of our visit.  Bottom line: It's close and convenient for both my kids and I hope this Rite Aide survivestheor difficulties and can come back to their previous conditions. read more

This is for the pharmacy. I've been going here for ten years. Your prescription will NEVER be ready without a minimum 30 minute wait. Ever. EVER. It doesn't matter if it was sent in 3 minutes prior, 3 hours, 3 days or 3 weeks. There is a different excuse every time.Never believe them when they tell you it will be a "minute." There is just zero respect for your time. One time they sent us home with the wrong formulation of the correct drug and we had to deal with swapping it outthey are ridiculously incompetent. This is truly the worst pharmacy in Pittsburgh. They are taking a week to fill meds if they even do it. They don't contact providers for refills. Won't refill things more than 30 days after they're filled which means you WILL go without your meds because they are always out of stock of vital meds. Go literally anywhere else. The store side of this pharmacy is great the pharmacy staff themselves are very lazy. Anytime you ask for your prescription it seems as if it is this massive burden to do there jobs. They are also very rude to there customers. They never have your prescriptions filled on time. They notify you that a prescription is available when it is in fact not. When you complain about an employee that seems to be the issue the manager just says sorry we are so busy when in fact there has not been one single customer in the 25 minutes that I waited to have a prescription verified that it should be here. No one every answers the phone so if you have a question you would be better off waiting for a "cold day in hell!!" Rite Aid you should be ashamed that you call this one of your stores o r maybe mandate some sort of customer service training. Rite Aid should consider clearing house. read more

This might be the worst managed pharmacy in the city. I've been coming here for 20 years but under the current manager I'm gradually starting to get my medications elsewhere... I literally won't fill my dog's prescription here anymore. It would be one thing if they were just overwhelmed but under his management I'm seeing customers endure a lot of rudeness, error, blaming and incompetence. They will literally take the phone off the hook for hours and hours at a time just to avoid taking refill orders. The community deserves a lot better, and Rite Aid should look closely at what's going on here. UPDATE - a month later and the situation has gotten even worse, so I began transferring my prescriptions elsewhere. Except. My new pharmacy just called and told me that not only won't this Rite Aid answer the phone for individual people seeking their medications, they have also stopped answering the *pharmacist line* (for days on end) - so my new pharmacy cannot even get my prescriptions in order to fill them. Let that really sink in. What does this mean for this store's abandoned customers who now, literally, can't even go anywhere else? This should be illegal. I suspect it is. read more

I tried calling ten times to see if a script was ready, only to finally go in and be told to come back 4 hours later by a rude pharmacy manager. I've been in food service for 16 years where not answering a phone is beyond unacceptable and we're not dealing with anything nearly as important as people's medication. Stay away from the pharmacy! They have screwed up prescriptions three times now, and instead of simply apologizing and making it right, The pharmacists have given me arguments and lots of excuses, the most common of which is, "We were busy." If they are so busy that they can't do their job right, they should hire more people, rather than make the customer suffer. The last time I called, I was put on hold for thirty minutes; no reason given. I drove from home to the pharmacy, staying on the phone. When I got there ten minutes later, I was still on hold! The pharmacist was, as usual, extremely rude. I hope other people aren't treated as rudely and ignorantly as I have been on nearly every occasion I've had to speak to a pharmacist. Their pharmacy is conveniently located and used to be great. However over the past 2 years it has become the worst. They don't pick up the phone...ever...prescriptions are never filled on time. This Rite Aid is a great place to get basic groceries, toiletries, and snacks. They have regular sales (like half off all holiday items) for card. They regularly stock and rotate their merchandise, except their hot cocoa which runs out sometimes. Since I live 2 minutes away, I have visited this location a LOT. The cashiers are very friendly and will banter with you, especially late at night when business is slow. If you are every hungry at 3am, I highly recommend their microwave broccoli mac and cheese ($4.50)! read more

The location and 24-hour operation of this Rite Aid, in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood, is very convenient. The store's layout and design have improved, becoming brighter and more welcoming thanks to a remodel within the past few years. There's a fairly good selection of typical products at reasonable prices for a store of this size which operates within a walkable neighborhood. My experiences with its pharmacy, while limited, have been pleasant (if not noticeably moreso than with its local competitors). These positives, however, do not offset the consistently poor service many customers receive from its front-end employees. The store's sales associates/cashiers seem poorly trained. They demonstrate a lack of basic customer service skills, and it is not unusual to be treated with indifference or contempt. So much so that, although this store is within easy walking distance of my home, I avoid shopping there. I will go out of my way to shop at other, often competing stores. Today, however, I stopped at this Rite Aid for a quick purchase. Doing so was a mistake - the experience once again lived down to my expectations. Jason, the cashier, made a minor error in scanning the wrong loyalty card on my keychain. But once the confusion was sorted out, Jason kept insisting the error was entirely my fault. He argued with the customer, despite evidence that disproved his claims. He doubled down, with increasing loudness, on a situation that did not require a wrong party. I'm not a believer in the adage "The customer is always right." But making a customer feel unwelcome is seldom the right business decision. This sort of behavior - not an isolated incident for this Rite Aid location in Squirrel Hill - is the primary reason I seldom shop there. It's why I recommend others avoid shopping at this location. And this kind of consistently poor customer service has become a factor in why I tend to avoid the brand in general. read more

Nobody has my dog's narcotic prescription and she is in extreme pain, yelping and crying whenever she moves. It is getting late and I'm calling pharmacies farther away, and this one is 24 hours so I called and the pharmacist refused to tell me over the phone whether or not they even have the medicine in stock because it is a narcotic (prescription is for 10 pills...10, what am I going to do with that?!?!). They offered to point me to another Rite Aid if I drive all the way there and they don't have it, which is super helpful because most of them are closed now. Out of 10+ pharmacies I called, this was the only one who would not tell me over the phone whether it's in stock and they did not care at all that my dog is in agony. STAY AWAY. read more

Went here the other day to get some medicine for our cat. The pharmacist was really helpful telling us all about the different discounts we could get to pay for her medicine. I really like this Rite Aid. It's sort of hilarious to me to rate pharmacies, but seriously, this one is nice. They just renovated it so it is all shiny and clean. They have a good selection of lots of things. And one of the staff in particular - don't know her name - pretty young, wears glasses, she's super friendly and funny and will help you look for what you need, then have a silly conversation with you about it. The store itself is fine, but the pharmacy has many communication problems. I only use the pharmacy because it is close to my house. Recently my doctor phoned in a prescription. When I got to the pharmacy they told me they would have to order it. And would absolutely have it by the next day. It was too late to call my doctor. I then got a call from the pharmacy that there was a problem. I tried to call back later in the evening to see if they had ordered it. I was on hold for 20min, so I went in. I was told that Yes, it would be in the next day. The next day I called and they said it was coming. Then I got a call from my doctor's office saying that Rite Aid didn't have it and could my doctor call another pharmacy. No pharmacy in the area had the drug. Then my doctor called to say that after being on hold for 20min they talked to Rite Aid and my doctor had ordered another drug. I understand that it was hard to get the drug, but they did not communicate that to me or my doctor in a timely manner. If it had been a drug that I needed immediately it would have been a serious problem. They need to improve their communication. It is very confusing. read more

I fill all of my prescriptions at CVS, but I go to this Rite Aid when I am in a bind for things constantly. I think this is the only 24 hour anything in Squirrel Hill, and it really comes in handy. When I first started coming here in 2014 the store was fairly old, but the total remodel really made it quite nice. Everything is a few dollars more than Target, but it is always really well stocked. I bought a bed buddy heating pad a few weeks ago, Arnica gel on another recent trip, and waxing strips on another trip. If you need something quick, this place cannot be beat. read more

This Rite Aid is open 24 hours. It's clean and well organized. The staff is pretty helpful when you have questions. I signed up for the Plenti card, which is their loyalty program that can be used at other businesses like Macy's and ExxonMobil. Apparently, you accumulate points towards free money. That worked out well for one of my candy runs. I had about $2 and change in Plenti points so my purchase was free. There is a free parking lot for customers. It can be tricky getting in and out during rush hour. Forbes and Murray is a busy intersection with buses and pedestrians. read more

To precursor this, I really love Rite Aid, but this review is mostly based off my experience with the pharmacy. I'd give this pharmacy 0 stars if I could, but I'm stuck with giving it 1 more star than it deserves. I just got diagnosed with bronchitis and received 2 prescriptions from my doctor (one for an inhaler and one for cough syrup). I went to the pharmacy early this evening and was told that I'd have to wait 45 minutes. The woman at the desk then comes back, tells me that she needs to copy some info from my ID, then tells me to come back in 20 minutes, which is totally different that the first estimated time she told me. I asked her how long I should wait before coming back, and she told me 35 minutes. I see her copying down my information and writes my DOB as 11/08/2011 (the day my license was issued). I tried to correct her, but she said it was just a label for my prescription. I come back a little under an hour later, and the same clerk was there and she took my insurance card and my ID. I waited another 40 minutes. No one spoke to me or seemed to acknowledge that I was there. Finally, another clerk tells me to go over to her and asks me for my address and DOB, because she had put in 11/08/2011 as my birthday, even though I'm clearly not 3 years old. I tell her and go back down to sit. Literally waited another 20+ minutes only to find that they'd forgotten that I was there, even though my prescription had been ready for a while. Before I could collect my prescription, they asked me again for my birthday and address before I could receive my ID, ins. card, and prescriptions. This was probably my first and last time coming to this Rite Aid to pick up a prescription. Please do not come here if you need your prescriptions within a reasonable time. It took me between 1.5-2 hours to get my prescriptions, even though my physician called my prescriptions in early in the afternoon. The time wasn't the huge issue, but the fact that, at the end, no one remembered that I was even there. read more

I live super close to this Rite Aid and probably visit it at least once per day. First of all, it's actually open 24/7, including the pharmacy. I've gotten to know a number of the employees over the past couple of years and they're really nice people. In the middle of a snowstorm last year, one of the cashiers, Martin, actually gave me his own personal windshield scraper when the store was out of them, telling me not to worry about returning it because he had an extra at home. When I thanked him a bunch of times, his only response was "you're welcome - it's not hard to do the right thing!". On principle my experience at this store, and with Martin in particular, has made me a loyal Rite Aid customer for life. read more

the employees in this store are ridiculously immature, lazy, and unprofessional. there was a line of 10+ people, and one of the cashiers just stood behind his register, didnt say anything, didnt do anything, didnt even try to get the next person in line. the other cashier was dragging her feet so badly, obviously did not care at all that a bunch of people were waiting. i walked out when 3 other people waiting in line got fed up and walked out after waiting for over 10 minutes. the customer service at this rite aid is abysmal. the employees just dont care at all, and are actually angry that people are waiting in line trying buy stuff, making them actually do work. read more
