don't come here they start following you as soon as you walk in the door. plus they don't restock on nothing. all the isles are empty. me and my partner had to walk out because we were just getting followed. we are just students trying to get snack but you guys had nothing. my boyfriend was grabbing a drink and a lady with white hair continued to follow us as if we weren't going to pay. we simply left our drinks and walked out. very stereo typical of them to think we are going in to steal due to our backpacks. we were complety starving and had to leave with no food. What a great transformation after their recent remodel. I'd always come to think of Rite Aids as being a step below CVS or Walgreens. To me, the shelves were typically more bare, they always had a smell, and were generally rundown on the inside. I feel that the remodel certainly pivoted this store into the right direction. The interior is clean, fresh and bright with great lighting, nice flooring, and a better layout with stocked shelves! I enjoy the new store format in how the aisles are broken up into sections. To me, it allows for easier navigation. The store is in a newly-remodeled shopping center and parking is typically easy to locate within their private lot. I can't comment on their pharmacy as I've never personally utilized it, but will say that their OTC selection is decent and surprisingly affordable. Wow! I cannot believe this store is opened! I walk in and smell a strong odor. I started to look around and notice half of the store was dark. I started to look around and noticed there was no flooring, just concrete with markings of the previous flooring. There was conduit hanging from the ceiling, not ceiling tiles and just in shambles. I have no idea how corporate allows this branch to operate in this condition but if the store manager doesn't care, corporate doesn't care about the safety of its patrons. I never leave reviews but this rite aid has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I went there well before closing and the cashier was happy to helped out a couple before me. She decided that she didn't want to check me out and made a rude comment towards me. Perhaps it was an act of profiling on her behalf but it was totally unprofessional and unnecessary. My expectations for a Rite Aid Pharmacy are low - very low, however, my husband and I have been so flabbergasted by the exceptionally poor customer service at this location that we now plan to transfer our prescriptions to another pharmacy. Aside from the generally filthy store, and perpetual winding lines at the main check out, this pharmacy is a nightmare. I have NOT. ONCE. come to pick up a prescription without some mysterious issue, or reason it can't be filled, or a call has to be made to the insurance, or it's not ready, and so forth and so forth. Not a single time has this exchange gone off without a hitch. AND when they make a mistake (i.e. CANCELLING a prescription put in by a doctor, incorrectly entering my information, just to name a few) they aren't apologetic or kind, but instead have a VERY, VERY rude, combative attitude. When they mess up, they make you feel as if you have to apologize, and somehow it is your fault. The leading pharmacists here have been downright nasty to me. And for some reason, your wait to fill a prescription can be all day - why? Other than the occasional long wait, standing on filthy floors, that will have to endure for the occasional purchase of paper towels, I plan to avoid this place whenever I can. read more

Two points only because I've had good luck in the past filling prescriptions-in fact it was a five star experience. The rest of the place is less than one star. Although the prices are competitive and jewelry/makeup department decently stocked (Opi nail polish) the staff is at best zombies hired without their leader. One summer day I was with two friends who wanted some ice cream. The staff took over ten minutes just to acknowledge them (By this point I was checking the time). At the twenty minute mark the ice cream line was into an aisle. Directly behind us was an elderly couple clearly struggling in the heat. My friend went to the register and was told if he didn't want to wait he could leave! Finally we walked out without our ice cream Generally, they only have one open register in the front, even when the line is halfway up the nearest aisle. I have always taken my items to the back, paying with my RX. They never have minded. More than once acknowledged they understand my plight. read more

Absolutely the WORST drug store I have ever been to! After waiting in line 10 minutes with one cashier open a second cashier opened. I was assisting a handicap friend lifting her 12 pack of beer onto the counter. The salesclerk asked for my ID. I was not purchasing the beer, therefore didn't have my ID, just helping.He claimed, since I touched the beer carton, I needed an ID! The Manager on October 2, 2012 at approx. 2pm was very rude. There was a long line of customer and only one employee at the register. I wanted to purchase and ice cream cone however there was no one to serve the line of customers that was being formed. I asked the cashier if he can send someone to serve us. He called the Manager however instead of the Manager serving the customers at the ice cream counter he opened another register. I am so relieved that I don't live in the area and this Rite-Aid being the only store in the area. I am writing this review for a gentleman who was waiting in the ice cream line with his mother who was on a walker,. because I informed him that I would file a comment on "Yelp". I went over to the register informed the Manager if he wasn't planning to send anyone over to serve the customers ice cream counter he should inform the line of customers that was forming at the ice cream count to go home. He responded "You can go home if you want to". I was appauled at the rudeness, poor lack of customer service and the unprofessionalism of this Manager. I would leave 0 if I could... What is wrong with your pharmacy...I have been in a dozen times in the last week trying to get simple antibiotics and birth control. The first time I came in was several hours after my doctor called into them. They told me to come back the next day...uh ok? I was too sick to spend much more time there so I came back the next day. The pitty hire you have there spent 10 minutes looking through random piles on the desk and told me she can't find them. Finally someone else came up, asked my name and found it in 5 seconds. Then the young girl proceeded to try to charge me for it when I told her my insurance coveted it. Didn't check the computer. Nothing. Just argued with me. Next, I got my birth control refilled on a thursday. I couldn't actually come in that day didn't end up coming in till Saturday morning. Wasn't ready. So I came back again that evening. Wasn't ready. Every time I go in that dumb girl looks around for 10 minutes and someone has to help her. I finally called my doctor sunday, they called me back monday morning and said ok I called it in again for you. Went it. Nope. I thought maybe it's the address wrong? The doctor read it back to me and called them in right in front of me finally. So I came back after lunch. FINALLY. Ready. Oh but the girl behind the counter tried to charge to me again. Then I told her I had this same conversation with you last week. Please have someone else go on the computer for my insurance. She sheepishly argued with me and said "but I heard you on the phone a bit ago saying that your insurance was gone..." are you serious? What point would you have for making this up? What would that even do for you? I just got here. Came straight to the back. My phone is even still sitting in the car. BTW I called my doctor to change to the pharmacy. The pharmacy called me, made sure my information was right and said ok it's ready! What do you know! I went in! It's there! And no one tried to cheat me out of money for some pills!!! In what world would that benefit you to argue with me about my birth control or strep throat medication or insurance. You have argued with me every step of the way. April 19, 2011 Rite Aid Store #5788 35 South Milpas Street Santa Barbara, CA 93103 Dear Store Manager: I sometimes drop in the store mentioned above because it is relatively convenient on my way to and from work, etc. However, I have decided to cease my visits to your establishment at all costs; even if it means driving to the other side of town. Just in case you're still interested (which is doubtful, based on our phone conversation and your own blasé attitude when I told you I was sending a formal complaint), here's why I'm livid: Aside from never really having a particularly enjoyable experience at your store, I recently went in with my mother and sister who were visiting from out of town. Several things were not priced and were potentially expensive seasonal items so we asked a nearby employee (don't remember his name - don't care) to let us know what the prices were and he proceeded to act as if this was a major inconvenience. If your employees don't want to work, there are plenty of vagrants in your parking lot who could do a better job. And if they do, perhaps they should do some simple things like create some resemblance of a price-tag on merchandise. It's pretty simple if you really, really think about it long and hard. Make sure people know how much things cost and they won't have to bother you with such "insane" questions. Voilà! Here's the straw that broke the camel's back: To make matters much, much worse, my mother and I had to stand at the counter for quite awhile because NO line was open. Tesa was several feet away helping someone with something at the end of the counter. This is not a jewelry shop - it's a drugstore and a register should be open at all times. She eventually came over and apologized for the wait (so it was obvious she was conscious of the fact we were standing there waiting for her to acknowledge a paying customer's existence). However, after knowing full-well that we were the only ones waiting for her, she went ahead and let someone else walk right in front of us while we were standing a couple of feet from the register. My mother paid for her things after that and I was next in line. Tesa then, after knowing how long I had been waiting, allowed another person to literally cut right in front of me. It was blatantly obvious that he was not next in line and she proceeded to wait on him anyway. I have never had people purposely cut in front of me in line before and now it had been ALLOWED to happen twice in five minutes. I must say that there very nearly was an altercation at the front of your store because your employees have no logic, whatsoever. Instead of making a spectacle of a ridiculous situation, I walked out and decided the CVS downtown is way better. Congratulations! I am sending this anonymously because my identity doesn't matter and I don't want your apology letter or your coupons. Your rude and unprofessional employees are the problem. And so are you. You can choose not to rectify the situation - and you probably won't because it is blindingly obvious that there is a severe lack of motivation to run a professional establishment on your part. However, don't be shocked when the entire store (or company) is out of a job and something better moves in. Rite Aid stock is only $1.02 per share so maybe we'll all get lucky and it'll go bankrupt or get bought out by someone who knows that relentlessly poor customer service is not how to run a successful business. I'll be crossing my fingers until then. Meanwhile, my friends, family, co-workers, acquaintances and I will be taking our business elsewhere. Today while I was in line waiting for the cashiers to get threw the line of course it took sometime. There was a women who did not speak English she asked the cashier what seemed to be for a price check but it got no where. The cashier did not understand her so they had a hard time. While waiting in line a man walked by being racist and ignorant. He said and I quote "This is America speak American or go back to Mexico". Of course i was in disbelief about his rude and insensitive comment. So was a couple who were a few people ahead of me. The women continued to glance at him with what looked like annoyance with what he had said. She had said something back along the lines of "this stole land anyways why bother her" to prove his racism was unnecessary and unwelcome. The man continued with his racism. So the women respond with "I'm Native American yet you guys don't speak my peoples languages" the man had nothing to say. Up until they walked out of the store he continued with his racism. This women was clearly not going to tolerate racism or racist. But yet both cashiers did not apologize to the women who was being told things by the racist man. Nor did the couple's cashier say anything else to stop the man from being racist. I have seen this cashier plenty of times and she always is rude and in a bad mood. Not only that but she has continuously gives people of color looks that are rude. She is constantly giving people that are the same race as her the best service ever. I do not know this cashiers name but she is the one with the short dirty blonde hair with glasses. I have lived in Santa Barbara my whole life and having been going to that rite aid for years. I will no longer be able to tolerate rite aid's attitude, lack of customer service, the rude and disrespectful employees, how filthy it is, how it's unorganized and allows racist comments that victimize their customers. I do not recommend this rite aid at all. If I could give this sad excuse of a store no stars then I would. But sadly it is required. read more
