I was here yesterday and the girl working with the dark brown hair and eyes was excessively rude for no reason. She refused to answer any questions I had or why my prescription wasn't ready. It was my first time picking up from this pharmacy. She kept repeating "we don't have that kind of medicine here" but wouldn't provide any more of an explanation. She spoke In a very disrespectful tone that I don't think was necessary. I was unable to pick up my prescription or receive any help from the front desk. The girl was difficult to communicate and the customer service was awful and the experience was a waste of my time. I would not recommend this place as a pharmacy choice to others read more

I had a terrible time getting a prescription filled at a national chain pharmacy last year that needed special insurance approvals. It seemed the pharmacist kept finding new reasons why they couldn't give it to me, always blaming my doctor's office for not dotting the right i's and crossing the t's. It dragged on for weeks. I got so fed up I pulled all my prescriptions and transferred them to The Medicine Shoppe Santa Barbara. Within a few hours and a few phone calls--to me, my doctor, and my insurance--Torian had it all sorted and I had my meds the next day! As a professional I can count on the pharmacy staff to scrutinize my prescriptions carefully, notifying my team of any anomalies or unusual circumstances. The staff behave as partners in the medical care delivery model, which means sometimes they may decline to fill a prescription if appears unsafe to do so. This is exactly the kind of partnership I expect from a pharmacy. Unlike other local pharmacies, the Medicine Shoppe goes out of their way to get meds authorized, another level of partnership which I appreciate. I cannot count the number of times I have suggested to my patients to use this pharmacy when dissatisfied with their current choice. We love this Pharmacy. Mostly use it to get our vaccines and our boosters.. We walk in without an appointment stand in line for just a second or two and give them more information fill out our form and them our card so they can put the new vaccine on it. We didn't a chair they come out they inject you with your vaccine as you're sitting there. They are friendly and kind. read more

This is a great little pharmacy, sort of old fashioned. They are pretty much just a pharmacy, so you don't have rows of groceries and hardware and stuff (though there was a selection of the most useful over the counter medicines too). The surgeon gave us a paper prescription, which the national chain pharmacy wouldn't accept, but the Medicine Shoppe took the time to read the prescription and fill it. Then, the pharmacist clearly explained the times for doses and whether to take with food. You probably wouldn't go to see a doctor in the middle of a grocery store, so you might prefer this place, as do I. read more

Needed to fill monthly prescription that my usual pharmacy couldn't fill as they were having supplier issues. Medicine Shoppe was so kind and thorough. They checked their stock to ensure they can fill. They checked my insurance coverage verify they are a provider. They even called back within minutes to clarify that I should return to my usual pharmacy next month. Professional friendly and knowledgeable. I used to go to this pharmacy regularly, and the employees were generally friendly/polite enough. I didn't have any real complaints back then. Recently, after years passed without picking up a single prescription, I went back to pick one up. The lady who was working was weird, for lack of a better word to describe her, and I didn't realize until I got home that they no longer had my insurance on file. She sold me the medication at the generic price without bothering to ask me for updated insurance info. What in the world? It was only an $11 prescription so no big loss, but on the principle of it, I will never go back. I wanted to go with the smaller pharmacy, but I guess smaller doesn't necessarily mean run better. They need a serious refresher in customer service. read more

This pharmacy could definitely use some better customer service and try a bit harder to make it a positive experience to use the local pharmacy instead of the big box stores. I've noticed that this pharmacy is regularly out of stock on medications that are ordinary, and aren't very helpful about it or apologetic. I got the general feeling that the employees here couldn't care less about how they come across to the customers. The wait time is too long, the communication isn't that friendly, and I almost felt judged by the pharmacist, which felt pretty unprofessional. I will be transferring my prescriptions to a more convenient and better quality pharmacist. read more

I told my Dr. I wanted to try a locally owned pharmacy and he laughed at me. I thought a local shop that has to compete with the big corporations would offer much better service. I was surprised at how wrong I was. The Medicine Shoppe Uptown is a joke. The monkey working the front counter had no ability to help move the transaction forward. These guys have the perfect attitude to work the night shift at a copy shop. When these guys go out of business it won't be because CVS pushed them out, it'll be because they failed themselves. I'll try one more locally owned pharmacy when I get a chance, wish me luck! They're only open from 9:30 to 5:30, but the start packing up and shutting off the lights at 5:15 and act like they're doing you a HUGE favor by staying open until 5:20. Examples: 1) They lost the first script my Dr. called in so I had to have it called in again. (Burned a few days) 2) They were out of the meds and they asked me to come back the next day t 9:30 to give them my prescription card and _again_ at 11:00 to pick up the meds (??) 3) I called at 9:30 to verify my insurance card would work. They said it would and I could pick up the meds in 30 minutes. 4) When I went to pick up the meds they said my prescription card would not work (!!) 5) When I asked CVS to request a transfer they said they couldn't because Medicine Shoppe had filled the order and it was locked out. So I freaked out and cried all day because I didn't have my seizure meds and seizures freaking hurt. I imagine locals want to support this place, so good luck to you. read more

The Medicinne Shoppe on Upper State is nothing short of Phenomenal. They are so professional but so Kind, friendly, and thoughtful. They make it a point to try to learn your name, and with that comes smiles and friendships. I would not trade it in even if I moved out to Goleta, or Montecito. Whether you are lucky enough to meet Tory, Janice, or the 2 other Pharmacists you are in great hands. I always forget my favorite employees name but she greets me with a smile, and not one person there is judgmental or rude. I have been a customer for ten years after getting sick with a rare neurological disorder for my age. If it was not for them, I would have had extra anxiety about picking up my meds, but every time I go there I am still amazed at their professionalism. I am not in the review business at all, I almost never do this, unless somebody is doing a job they need to be commended on. Bravo to all who make the Medicinne Shoppe work like a swiss watch. read more
