They don't have basic customer service skills, and they are often too eager to get you out of their line, so then they don't listen to your order and end up giving you the wrong items. We recently rediscovered frozen custard, mainly because we have spent so much time in other states that don't offer good quality custard that we have been eating mainly "standard" ice cream. Finding Ritter's again, with fast, friendly service has been great. All their locations are pretty much the same so you know what you are getting; it's mainly a difference of how attentive the servers are during that particular visit. Honestly, most times it seems that these places are staffed by high school kids without huge amounts of supervision so sometimes the kids get distracted with their own conversations inside the store but generally things are pretty good. Major downside on this visit was that they blew through the cup in which they were making my glacier (mixing the mixins) and rather than giving me a new cup, they just stick an old one on the outside. Saved them from tossing the product, but I ended up chewing on some of the styrofoam at the end. Not cool. read more

I have always loved Ritters product but have been REALLY disappointed with the value recently. Purchased a "build your own" 1 scoop sundae with 2 toppings and it was $5.50 for a TINY cup when the set sundaes are only .50 more and about 3x the size - it makes no sense. The kids sundae my daughter got was $3.50 and much less ice cream than visits before. I love this place and the location! Every time I visit, I always have a difficult time deciding between all the different custard flavors. I want them all! They will let you sample if you request to try some. In addition to frozen custard, they also have Italian ice, a variety of sundaes, and frozen custard cakes. I have tried many items on their menu on many different occasions and have never been disappointed. I have also ordered frozen custard cakes and pies for special occasions and it has been wonderful. Their prices are affordable and you are able to customize everything to your liking. You do need to pre-order your cakes at least 24 hours prior to picking it up. For this visit, we ordered a scoop of frozen custard and 2 gelatis. A gelati is layered with frozen custard and Italian ice. If you opt for the Gelati blend, then they will blend the custard and Italian ice together. My hubby loves that option! It was very classic looking and circular shaped, something definitely out of the 60s. I had the turtle sundae which was excellent and very tasty. We have been customers here for years and lately the quality has gone downhill. The treats we received tonight were particularly bad. My husband ordered a glacier made with lemon custard with cake mix-ins. There were zero mix-ins in the glacier. It was just lemon custard in a cup. I ordered a Grizzly Cub Special. What I received was one scoop of vanilla custard doused in so much hot fudge I could barely taste the custard. Typically, the Grizzly Cub comes with peanuts. There were none. We went through the drive through and didn't check our orders until we got home. It was a very disappointing trip. Next time, I'm just going to drive the extra few minutes to Graeter's. read more
