I love deserts that are made with the simplest ingredients and offer a bang for your buck! This is the spot! I ordered the strawberry shortcake and it was very good. I would love more shortcake to come with it because I think the custard dominated it! All in all, pretty good and not too sweet! Strawberries were defrosted but yet wholesome. This hurts to write, but this sign really disappointed me and slightly scared me at the same time. Food safety should never be compromised no matter what your staffing issues are. The end! Next we all know there is a shortage for staffing. Service has never been super quick here, but it's always been tasty and service with a smile. I can't blame the lady working today. She made beautiful sundaes for the kiddos. My concrete was a bit melted, but it's Florida and hot so can't blame her. I'm just really disappointed in the owners using this as a complete overall excuse for everything. If you can't maintain then maybe shrink menu during this time to make things easier for your employees. Also, I noticed price increase and size decrease. I've been going here longer than I count or remember and this was the most disappointing visit. Ritter's Frozen Custard is a pretty cool place (no pun intended) where they offer a great menu of ice cream. I seen by the sign as I pulled in that they also had hot dogs and french fries oh, but we were here for ice cream. By the way, they were advertising that they have Nathan's gourmet hot dogs. There was not much of a line, so we were right there in no time flat. I ordered the Peanut Butter Mountain, one of their advertised ice cream specialty items. I have to say that this was very good. They also had a kids ice cream that was not a bad size that was only ninety-nine cents. If memory serves correct, I believe it was called dirt and worms. We also got a banana splits and some special that they had on a sign with salted caramel. Everything that we got was very good. Ritter's Frozen Custard also has a pretty cool Vibe about it. It looks clean that is a lot of things to do while hanging out and enjoying your ice cream there. Prices might be slightly high, but not enough to make you avoid going there. All in all, I would definitely recommend going here and I give it five stars (). This is a cool place to spend some time (this time I 100% meant that pun). read more

I like going to Ritters Frozen Custard because they have a really nice selection of delicious items. I like the Italian ice that they have! Lemon is my favorite flavor to have especially when it's extra hot outside! it's a refreshing item to order! The service is always friendly, and the place is always busy. I've been driving by this place for the last ten years and I guess since this visit was my first it's obvious my curiosity wasn't an overwhelming factor in the decision making process. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of frozen custard and today's visit reinforced that, I ordered a small vanilla cake cone which was dripping before the friendly ice cream server girl handed it to me, I understand that if you infuse this frozen media with fruits and nuts and cover it in chocolate and whipped cream it can be turned into quite the treat but I'm a minimalist when it comes to some foods not that I don't love the enhancements I just like to love what I'm enhancing. I can agree that this place has become somewhat of an iconic fixture on this corner lot - there's plenty of parking and the grand patio surrounding this frozen custard stand gives it a park like setting. The best ice cream place I like in the town. They have different flavors every time I went and I am a regular here. The fresh banana with strawberries is a must try. The collate flavor is my second best and some time they have espresso flavor with crunchy chocolate pieces inside that's delicious too. But it's a bit pricey though. This is nice, clean, large location was easy to find, with plenty of parking. In order to highlight the "custardyness" of this treat, I ordered a vanilla cone. It was good, but very white and not very "custardy" As I understand it, eggs are the difference and there was little evidence of their presence. I love frozen custard! I had no idea what frozen custard was until my mom brought me to Ritter's on one of my visits. It is amazing! Ritters has a lot of flavors and a lot of ways to get your custard. We usually go with the strawberry sundae with toasted pecans. The medium is PLENTY big and can totally serve as a meal. In fact we have gone there for "dinner" on numerous occasions. A couple things to note though... They only have outdoor seating, so visiting when the weather is nice is a good idea. Otherwise you may have to sit in your car. Their service isn't speedy but it isn't because they aren't trying. It seems like no matter what day, time of day, or time of year you go they are always busy. Thats a good thing right? But because of that sometimes you will have to wait in line for a bit. So keep that in mind if you are in a hurry. But believe me, it is totally worth it. They are a little pricey. One of the reasons that we don't mind is because it is delicious and as I mentioned before it could easily replace a meal. And sometimes i'd just rather spend my money on a strawberry sundae than a value meal from a fast food restaurant. If you are in the area I would suggest giving them a try. They aren't near the beach so if you are visiting make sure to look them up ahead of time. They are only about 5 minutes from the highway, so its an easy stop before you head back to where ever you came from :) read more

Further, the young teen staff were utterly disinterested in doing their jobs -- excessive time waiting for someone to take our order & even more time wasted waiting for anyone to bother to make the order. I've been here before and I think the quality food you get depends on the day. I ordered a hot dog with ketchup mustard and sauerkraut and it was missing so what was the purpose of paying .50 for it to just be missing? And I also ordered chili cheese fries and it tasted like it was fried twice. Craving something sweet, my wife and I decided to stop off at Ritter's while in the area. There was a decent size crowd when we arrived, but the line moved quickly. I got a scoop of mint chocolate chip in a cake cone and my wife ordered a scoop of vanilla in a waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles. Upon first look, the custard looks like ice cream, but once you taste it, it's different. It's creamier and silkier. I'm not generally a frozen treat gal, but the mint chip was outstanding! I ate every bite! My wife said hers was good too. The girl really loaded her up on sprinkles, which she LOVES. As we sat and enjoyed our cones there was a live musician playing a keyboard and singing. It was so silly but made everyone smile. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Ritters. Went yesterday with my two grandchildren who usually love to go there. Their children's meal usually has a small hot dog -about 4-inches long -an smiley fries! When I ordered the BOY that took my order had no clue -I asked for the children's meal with smiley fries-he told me that "don't got those"! When I ever got their meal I wanted to throw it back through the window!!!! They took a regular hot dog and cut it in half for my two grandchildren -he got 1/2 she got 1/2-and they got a very few regular fries! So sad - we will be finding another special place for us to spend time together and have lunch!! And BTW I got a plain hot dog and fries and a medium unsweet ice tea (make sure you bring your own sweetener-the BOY new nothing about them his response to Splenda or Equal was "what's that? I'm really not a fan of Ritter's. I do enjoy the fine patio and relaxed, fun atmosphere of sitting around at this community landmark. But I'm just not a fan of the Frozen Custard. The "vanilla" just doesn't seem to have a flavor at all. It doesn't taste like anything. I usually get a sundae for nearly $6.00 and if it wasn't for the strawberry sauce, hot fudge sauce, etc., the whole thing would have no flavor. I find that odd. It's pricy, but the serving size is decent. Maybe I just need to try something else. But so far, my reaction is "Meh. I've experience better." read more

God, this place is so good. While this Custard stand is a chain, this is the only Ritter's location in the state of Florida -- all of the rest are located in Indiana, Iowa, or some other state where frozen treat stands are only open a portion of the year. The name is a misnomer, though, since it is not really custard. It is more along the lines of French Vanilla with additional flavors. It is that additional egg that is added that gives it such a wonderful creaminess and the lack of infused air which helps give a compact and rich texture. They always have six fresh flavors "on tap" and many more in the freezer. I do enjoy the Vanilla and Chocolate but look forward to their Turtle flavor when it is made fresh. All seating is exterior, so feel free to bring the pups! On certain days, pups even get a free cup. read more

So anyone that knows me knows I'm a dessert lover and heard Ritters was the place go try. It's main thing is the different varieties of custards but I felt for some ice cream and decided to go with the strawberry sundae with wafers. Can you say yummy, of course I couldn't indulge alone so I gave a few spoons to our son. He was happy, it's ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top. So next time I'm in town they got my business, it's been around for awhile and by the taste of things they will be around for a while longer.
