We come to the Daytona area each summer, and for years we've seen people lined up for the town's best chili dog. This year we finally stopped to test them ourselves. They did not disappoint! We had chili with slaw, chili with cheese, chili with Kraft, and one with just ketchup, mustard and onions. They were all delicious! My husband said the kraut is the best, but I'm not a kraut person. My father traveled with us this year and he had a banana milkshake as well. Reported to taste good, probably vanilla ice cream with banana extract. Not verified! I got the chili cheese hotdog with onions and jalapeños. I paid three dollars total for my hotdog. I will say it's not bad. The chili was good and had flavor. However, the hotdog honestly tasted like a "cheap" hotdog, or Vienna sausage there was no snap when you bit into the hotdog it was all just the same texture. Nonetheless, it was a pretty decent hotdog and good for three dollars. If I only had a couple of dollars and needed a quick hotdog after a night out, I would stop to this business again. read more

They have a ton of sundae and flurry options as well as floats. Our group tried several flurries and all were super delicious. We had the snickers, cookie dough, m@m and Reese's. Great spot to go with the family or as a couple. There is nothing fancy about the Dairy Bar, it's just good ole ice cream and dogs at a good ole cheap price, can't beat that combo, it's a win win for everyone. There are a few picnic tables to sit at, but not many, and there was a line every night we went past (and this was in April), can't imagine in the summer. The kiddie cone comes with a surprise gumball at the button which of course helped our littles eat all the ice cream (great idea for home). The ice cream was good nothing to cry home about about, but I think the nostalgia of a food stand like this brings back old memories and that fact that this is a landmark amongst locals and tourist alike, keeps you coming back. The Mississippi Mud was outstanding, it was the winner fo the night for what we ordered, will for sure have to go back someday to try their award winning best in town Chili Dogs. MUST TRY!!!! I have been wanting to try this place since we moved here as I love hot dogs and we used to own a Gold Star Chili in Somerset, KY. So glad I did! The chili they make for the hot dogs resembles Cincinnati Chili and the Cole slaw (very similar to KFC Cole slaw) is to die for! The price is also fantastic! You aren't going to find food this good and this inexpensive in the area. Definitely a must try if you are in the Daytona Beach area. I wish I could give this place ten stars !!! This place has been in my family for forever, my grandfather loved to take me here and we always came after a day at the beach for a one of a kind chili dog, and top of the line ice cream. My grandfather loved this place and so do I! Some of my best memories are right here at the dairy bar. My grandfather sadly passed away early this year and right after his celebration of life many of us at the ceremony went for a memorial chili dog at the dairy bar. Small little stand on the side of the road, you will miss it if you are not really looking for it. I am glad we did some research before our little holiday in Daytona beach. I hate to knock any small business, but two things about this place bother me. 1. It's cash only. That in itself doesn't bother me as many dairy bars I've been to across the country are cash only. But what does bother me about this is as soon as you realize it is cash only they pull out a little ATM (CC processor) and let you "withdraw" cash to pay with. That is deceptive. If you're going to take a card via a fake ATM then take cards. If you're going to be a cash only business then be cash only. Having a makeshift ATM and charging $1.75 for it is not cool. 2. The soft serve itself was very subpar. Before it was even handed to me it was already melting. Now I get it we're in Daytona and it's warm and humid, but you could tell by the taste and the texture of the soft serve that it is a very cheap product. At the end of the day, my kids and there cones. My wife ate hers. I threw mine out. Sadly we passed about a dozen ice cream shops to get here because we like going to dairy bars.
