Favorite nursery in Spokane for sure. We go here every year to get new flowers, I like to get at least 1 rose because they come back every year and they got cool multicolored ones. Sad to see Mario go, I don't think he works there anymore he was my favorite worker. Most of the workers are very knowledgeable about the plants and will be able to answer any questions you have. I love the variety they have outside and it's always something new. The gift shop inside has lots of cool decorations for your yard and tools. Theres also a candy shop for the kiddos and a slide outside for them. The hanging baskets they sell during springtime are great for hanging beside your house's front door, they get a little pricey but lasts till winter and you can even keep them all year if you bring them inside and use a UV light. read more

I am incredibly impressed with Ritters and in particular Michael and Dan. They were incredibly helpful and took extra care and time to go through our plan with us. They had expert knowledge and even used a picture of our flower bed to make sure what we were picking out would do well and look good. They gave detailed instructions how to take care of them and we are truly so appreciative. Never have we been acknowledged let alone helped at a nursery and this was our last stop before resorting to Home Depot or Lowes. So glad we stepped outside of our area to try Ritter's. My mommy and I love this place. They have a huge assortment of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, fountains, great original items for gift giving or to buy for yourself. So many neat things to see and smell you literally can spend hours browsing the store alone. And their greenhouse is full of beautiful annuals!! Did we mention how amazing the staff is here!! I come here almost every day. A lovely place to wander around in a serene setting, and it is large enough to socially distance easily (outside anyway). The people who work here are knowledgeable and friendly. My kids love coming because they have a play area and two friendly cats. In the winter, the warm greenhouses are such a treat. I have a satsuma tree I bought last winter for the fragrant flowers and it has started giving me small satsuma oranges! Great place to buy gifts also. read more

My grandchild's preschool sold Ritters poinsettias for a fundraiser. we charged $18 per plant. Ritters was paid $7.99 + tax/mark-up for each plant (equaling $10), with $8 going to the school. We we're all excitedly expecting lush poinsettias with shiny holiday foils. Monies were collected, paid to Ritters (their portion), and the plants were delivered just before Thanksgiving. The plants were small and had no decorative foil around the pots. Ritters said the foils would be in after Thanksgiving. Everyone quickly delivered the plants to the people who bought them, knowing that they are a sensitive tropical plant, but customers reported that their plants began to die within days. I collected 4 withered plants and took them to Ritters on Division in Spokane. I asked only for Ritters' portion of the $18 sale price in a refund. Ritters said they had not received payment and I needed to get my refund from the school. But Ritters had been paid! Any money the school might have graciously refunded to me would have depleted their portion of the fundraiser and I refused to do that. I am disappointed in this type of public relations from an established business. The preschool will not be using Ritters for any future fundraisers. It is quite disheartening that Ritters chooses profits over integrity. read more

This plant store used to be where I get my plants all the time but it has really gone downhill. The pots are are dry and a lot of the plants are dying. One of the snake plants only had one normal looking stem and one broken stem and it was being sold for 70 bucks( like the plant is broken and dying). Most of the leaves are brown on all the house plants, and I don't want to pay 70 bucks for a plant I have to nurse back to health. Even the fiddle leaf figs are completely dry and dying. I have fiddle leaves of my own that I have had for years but it just makes me sad for all the dying plants here now. Maybe they just have staffing problems or something. read more

Ritters Garden and Gift is a large nursery located on North Division in Spokane, Wa. When we moved to Spokane I was told to visit Ritters Garden and Gift and NW Seed and Pet if I needed anything related to plants. Out of all the nurseries in town, this place has everything that I had trouble finding. It is a little more expensive, but that is expected for plants that are hard to find in the area. You can easily spend hours browsing all the plants and gardening accessories. I have purchased my Kaffir Lime Tree and String of Hearts here. Almost all the plants here are of excellent and tip-top shape. They take care of each plant and are very knowledgeable about each species. The only reason why I am giving this place a 4/5 is due to how large the nursery is in relation to staffing. If you're looking for something particular the easiest thing is to ask the staff, but sometimes they'll tell you it's not their department/area and you'll have to search for someone who is. If you arrive a little after they open or around lunch there are times you are walking around just trying to find someone to ask! When you do find someone in the department you want they know a lot about the plants. The staff will give pointers, tip and tricks, and walk you around to the recommended products. In summation, I would visit Ritters Garden and Gift for specific plants that I am trying to find. Most likely they'll have it or will notify you when they arrive. Bonus? They have cats that roam the greenhouse and keep you company while you shop! read more

First off, the prices are outrageously high. They have help wondering around the grounds, but they do not make any attempt to help the customer. When we were there, one of the employees was too busy to help us due to talking with another employee. She was very rude as well telling us she had just got back from lunch. Tried to talk to the manager, and the employees screened my reason for talking to her, and then told me she was at lunch. This place has really gone downhill. Must come from managements poor leadership. You can do much better by going to Lowes or Fred Meyer. Better warranties than Ritters as well. read more

I bought a hydrangea plant at 12:42 p.m. At 1:25 I decided to return it. I was informed they do not take returns due to the corona virus. They made NO disclosure of this during the sale. The plant cost $54.00. I did not take it home or out of my car during the time I had it. Trish, manager, stated that I could not return it because of the virus. I touched it and they 'need to protect the public.' Well, all the plants are being 'touched.' I was very disgruntled as it is MY money, not theirs and they gave no disclosure when it was purchased. I came here with my mom amidst many errands to be run. I didn't think much of it from the exterior... and then I walked inside and BAM! I was punched in the face with kitsch and candles and foliage and fun. There's like 3 different components: a nursery, a gift shop, and a florist. The gifts shop is very season-based. I liked all the fall stuff they had going on. I didn't look around as much as I would have wanted to in fear of buying some things that I didn't really need. The florist was busy with boutonnières and corsages... oh, high school dances. The nursery is awesome. Indoor plants, water fountains, native bushes, various pines, fruit trees, grasses, rock planters, benches... I instantly went into "domestic mode" once I stepped outside. I had to have some plants. (Besides, it wasn't a bad way to kill time while my mom was making some final decisions for plants to landscape the newish property.) I didn't know exactly which plants to get. I was looking for something that would last through a Seattle winter. Long story short, the employees were super helpful, attentive, and great with information. I left with a purple kale plant, two black grasses, and a reddish tall grass. Oh, and there's a crooked crazy old kids house/playground. Looked like a witch may pop out at any given moment... but looked fun if I was 5 again. I'll definitely be back. I just have to say not only businesses are trying to do their best during covid! They have wonderful plants and merchandise but........ I just recently lost my dad to covid. It has been devastating to our family. My daughter has planned her wedding for the last year and a 1/2. We are trying to sustain some normalcy. Well we have a very TIGHT budget due to covid and our loss. We went in because it was 1/2 off annuals and we need to pot flowers as fast as possible because we all have been in a time warp. Well we went in and they are throwing a bunch of petunias away. I thought that's so sad I could plant them and they could live for the wedding!!!!! Well I ask if they might sale them to me for a discount price and save them. The nice little gal calls her manager (young man who doesn't even take 10 seconds to hear me out) he says no we can only buy the 1/2 price ones because they are taking the others to the dump! I'm sorry but wouldn't it have been a win win situation to let us pick out some to rescue and that way we could have bought more on our tight budget? I used to be a customer service manager at tidymans and I will tell you I would have seen it as a gain ! Winning with the customer and also not throwing out something that could be profitable to my business and helpful to a customer in this hard time. I'm sorry but we used to go there quite a bit when things were better but Staneks took way better care of their customers when I grew up on the south hill. Nobody cares about their customers anymore. So we spent quite a bit and we have to make due. This nursery is amazing. Employees are super friendly and very helpful and they aren't over priced! I've a novice and they didn't make me feel dumb for asking questions. They were also ridiculously sweet to my toddler. I mean, on this particular trip she was in a good mood so I'm sure that helped. But they didn't even have to address her and they did. This is a great little store. They have so many neat things, and although they're quite spendy, they're really neat and always great quality. We love going here at Christmas time, and we buy an ornament every year. So, if you're looking for a rating for this place as a store and nursery, I give them 5 stars. However, if you're looking for a rating for this place as a florist that does special orders, I give them 1 star. My fiancé and I stopped in in early February to inquire about ordering flowers for our summer wedding. We were told they were really busy preparing for Valentines Day and could we make an appointment for the week after Valentines. That was totally understandable, so we did. We came in for our appointment and discussed flowers and the woman we were working with helped us refine our ideas into a specific request. She took notes, got my name and number, and said she would call is back within a week or two with a quote. A month later, we still hadn't heard back, so we stopped in to see what was going on. We spoke to a different woman working at the floral counter, and she was surprised that we hadn't heard back yet but didn't know anything about our quote. She took my name and number again and said she'd get it to the other gal. She even offered to text it to her so that she could call us that night, but we told her it was ok, we could wait for the other gal to return to work. A week after that, we still hadn't heard anything and our wedding was now two months closer than the first time we had tried to talk flowers with Ritters, so we just went somewhere else, as it was obvious Ritters didn't really care about our business. At the other place, we were able to make an appointment for the next day, had a quote at the end of that appointment, and paid for our flowers before we left. I really enjoyed going to Ritters as it has a nice gift area as well as nursery items however I will not be returning. I bought an item on sale and while putting it together it broke suggesting a fault in the ceramic. I was told to take it home and glue it :( there was another one in the store being used as a display. Good customer service would be to trade me the unbroken one and glue the one I returned. Went here for my young sisters flowers for her funeral. The flowers were beautiful but we were very disappointed that the flowers we were told would be on her casket (orchids, etc) were a flower that was very dry and close to dying. For 700$ we should have gotten fresh beautiful flowers. When we called we were hoping for somewhat of a refund, even 50$ but only got an apology which doesn't help a lot when it is your 18 year old daughters funeral. read more

Ritter's is a wonderful garden and gift shop. Considering Spokane has lost Mel's and Stanek's it is nice to still have Ritter's for local floral needs. Very large greenhouses, plant selections, great variety and helpful staff makes Ritter's a desirable destination for gardeners of all kinds. Have a nice gift shop even though doesn't carry the style of items I prefer but at least don't have to order online for everything. Horrible service! I never write reviews, but this is absolutely ridiculous! I called during the week to set up a time to meet with the florist for a consultation for flowers for my wedding and they told me to just come in around 1:30 or 2pm on Saturday....so I did! However, when I got there the lady at the desk looked at me like I was crazy and said that I had to fill out information online to set up an appointment! I told her that I thought that is what I did and she said "no you have to do it online, then we will contact you". I asked if we could just meet now because they didn't seem that busy and there was a misunderstanding, but she said no! She wouldn't even talk to me at all and was rude! Brought my daughter in to get a pound of the candy from the bins. Every single gummy candy was hard as a rock. I asked the girl why she didn't know and it was obvious she didn't care. I called and asked for a dozen roses for my wife's birthday (that same day) in a boquet. The lady I spoke to said.."let me see if we have 12 roses left?? She said she did but suggested a few salmon colored ones in with the red. That sounded good.. so I agreed. When I arrived to pick up my order I was appalled. The most un-attractive arrangement I have ever seen! She had shoved some fake autumn colored leaves in between the stems. There was not a hint of babies breath or anything traditional for a birthday arrangement. It was near to closing time. I paid the $80.00. Went home..took out the fake leaves. Rearranged the roses and put a red bow on it. It was passable. Never again will I order anything from this place. read more
