Katrina, the owner and the massage therapist, has received the Thumbtack's "Best of 2016 Award" for two years in a row, based on customer service reviews. I feel blessed to have found out about her through Groupon, but she is definitely well worth paying full fare, and I'm happy to "put her on the map" for the discerning Yelp community. A good therapeutic massage can allay stress, ease sore muscles, relieve tension, help heal injuries of the body, heart, and soul, can help you through the grieving process, and sometimes, do all that AND leave you feeling like an almost-new person. And that's how good Katrina is. She's warm and caring and made me feel comfortable right away. Her intake form is just one page that covers all the important issues, unlike many that make you feel like you're being prepped for major surgery, and take longer than the massage will! Before she begins, she asks about problem areas and massage preferences, and I could tell during the massage that she listened and took it all into account. I especially liked that she said at the outset that she doesn't usually talk with her clients during their massage, and that it was not personal...just that she knows we are there to relax and de-stress, and that conversation can interfere with that. Aside from the fact that she is very skilled at therapeutic massage, and adjusts pressure expertly, the very best part is the way she incorporates the use of hot stones and heated damp towels. I wasn't expecting either, and the sensation and results are almost magical. I left feeling well taken care of and infinitely more relaxed. Hopefully the pitfalls I encountered trying to find the office will benefit you, because if you appreciate a great massage, this is a place you'll definitely WANT to find! It's in a small office complex on the west side of Mur-Len Road about halfway between 127th and 135th Streets. As soon as you pull in the parking lot, turn left, head to the south side of the buildings, then turn right and go west toward Suite 6, just a few doors down. The company name is on the outer door, but the office is shared by a counseling service, and inside there is a (shared) reception window and one other unlabeled door, so if there is no one at the window, you might think you're in the wrong place. The unlabeled door leads back to the other offices, so you can knock on it if there isn't anyone at the desk. The icy cold bottled water you leave with to help detoxify was the perfect tonic on a scorching-hot Kansas City afternoon, and helped ease the shock from the waves of heat that blasted from my car when I opened the door. But even that couldn't destroy the cocoon of comfort Katrina had given me.

She used just the right amount of pressure and made me feel very comfortable. We were a bit confused (this was our first visit) by the NAME - "Tea Spa" made us imagine we would be served TEA while getting our foot massages (we have gone to another foot massage place in a different town that we thought was similiar and they did, indeed, serve tea). Not sure why this one in Lawrence has "tea" in the title, because there was no tea to be had. :) There was also confusion on checking out on the TIPPING. They had a big sign suggesting AMOUNTS to tip, and that if you tipped below a certain amount you basically were indicating that you were unhappy with the services received. However, the amounts listed were far more than traditional tipping percentages.... In retrospect, we figured they must be amounts for FULL BODY massage tipping as opposed to foot massages, but it was unclear and a bit uncomfortable and we all tipped more than I think we would have had the signs not been there (and more than we wanted to). So just be aware of that when you go - look at your total due and tip from THAT and do not be worried about the signs. The other masseuse, Coco, worked on my friends and they said she was great, too. She was very kind to us and after we were finished took time to talk and explain more to us (via a translation app which was cool!). If I lived in Lawrence I would visit this spot again. Overcharged, treated rudely, false pricing and breach of agreement…read more My daughter and I went to Tea Spa for massages yesterday. The signs outside advertised $50 hour long massages, but I was charged $120. I pointed out the error and two women said the price is $60, they are the new owners, and the special was only for the month of May anyway (it is still May). The signs just hadn't been taken in yet, they explained. I decided to just let it go, but removed a few dollars in tip. I was then questioned if I was only leaving $20 in tip, and they spoke about it among themselves in derogatory tones in front of us. On a bill of $120 that should have been $100? And that I've now spent ten minutes being hassled and hustled for? Yes, "only" a 20% gratuity. I then asked for my "frequent customer" card back--after 10 massages you earn a free service. I have purchased 9 in 6 months, for myself and for family and friends. I was told that my card was far too old, and that they would not even sign it until they consult with the new owners. (Moments earlier they had claimed to be the new owners.). They assured me that they would call me--without ever getting a number--which I finally wrote down before leaving, as they continued to insist they were right. I have taken my kids here, and referred several friends. Until now I have had good experiences here, but whatever is going on with the management now is dishonest. The two people I have always thought were the owners were present, as well as two unfamiliar people. I left with a headache and a nasty feeling about the whole thing. This is no way to do business. I am not holding my breath for a call from them, but I will post an update if they do get in touch to correct the situation.

Lots of the products I have used and continue to use such as Rowe Casa, Anima Mundi herbs and tonics, and some great books and gemstones. Jenny the Lead Spa Coordinator was so very helpful. She answered all my questions as I was trying to figure out which products to use and also helped me get a discount! She also took us on a tour of the spa and explained all the services that they offer. This spa offers many different services from massage to red light therapy, and cold plunge and sauna. The spa looks beautiful, and very professional and comfortable. The practitioners all look very knowledgeable! We are excited to try some services and to continue buying products that I don't have to order online!
