Located in the former Local's location, Roasted has enhanced the menu. It's elevated bar based food but better. The bowls were incredible and had a great selection of classics with a twist. Large parking lot in back. Outdoor seating available but limited as fall approaches. Quick and kind service.

There have been many incarnations of restaurants in this location, but I have to say this one far exceeded my expectations and is easily the best of the bunch. Friendly people excellent food in a fun environment. Our first visit the place was packed. It was a Thursday and a game night we snagged a couple of seats at the bar where we were waiting on by One of the owners and she was fantastic. Healing from the upper peninsula this is well translated into their menu. They have food and drinks hailing from the UP. We split the steak bites and a pizza all were delicious. The steak bites were tender and I love all of the blue cheese and butter. Pizzas are half off on Thursday And are very good for a restaurant that doesn't necessarily specialize in pizza. We finished off the evening with the suggested bread pudding bites, which were delicious and reminiscent of high-end carnival food. Our subsequent visit I enjoyed the fish and chips which was cooked expertly with the batter. Crisp but not greasy. My husband ordered the brisket bowl and said it was flavorful (but he stole quite a few bites of my fish and chips.) They offer loads of specials during the week and a very generous, happy hour we will definitely return!

The best place in Walker. We've tried everything on the menu. I'm not sure what my favorite is but I have a few. You must try the bread pudding bites.

Nate and I recently stopped in to try some of their new food menu and seasonal drinks. The new drink menu is Japanese themed, so we were excited since we went to Japan earlier this year. I got the alpenglow and Nate got the spicy margarita. Both were delicious and beautiful. We also got some happy hour snacks - the dijon sesame salad and the savory cream cheese wontons. Their happy hour is a great deal and I'd love to come back soon for that again. The salad was fresh and a big portion to share. The raw diced onion wasn't my favorite addition to the salad, but I did love the overall flavors. The savory cream cheese wontons were absolutely delicious - definitely very savory and crispy. I'd get these every time! The vibe inside at happy hour was pretty quiet but it can get packed as it's not a huge space. I am so glad that General Wood Shop is here and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

As a queer person, we have to protect our spaces by supporting them. The care that the staff lures into this place truly shows. The rotating menu, the affordable drink options, the ambiance and the way they truly take suggestions from their patrons. They have a new patio addition which has made the smaller spot feel larger aswell. Last fall, I came in on a whim by myself. Callie was my bartender (love), and they were deciding what to do with some Sloe Gin. Thus the "Femme Fatale" was born, there's something magical about watching a craft cocktail come together. Something even more magical about being able to NAME a cocktail at your favorite watering hole. GW is truly a beautiful addition to GR.

Parking is per usual, all street parking or if you want to use their parking lot and use an app (not Motu like the rest of the city), you can do that. The entrance is shared with multiple other businesses and it's downstairs. It's all counter service so if you're sitting outside, you have to go inside to get your drink, bring it outside to enjoy, which is more of an inconvenience than a deal breaker. I still enjoyed the drinks (I got the margarita flight) and appreciated the appeal. They're definitely tequila forward, which I appreciate, so I'd order a marg again! Probably sticking with the classic but you can't really go wrong with that. I think you can order tacos for food and snacks, but do hope they consider bringing the service outside as the summer months come in full swing!

They also have a great outdoor space for warmer weather. Located in the former Sovengard, I've been a few times and have always enjoyed the experience. The menu has changed a bit since they first opened but still has an Asian twist with items like bao buns, okonomiyaki, and chicken karaage. The $25 ramen seems to have disappeared from the menu, for better or worse. The food options here are a bit different than those at the Broad Leaf in Kentwood, so it's fun to visit both to try different things. On my most recent visit, I got the skull water cocktail, which was a fun green color. It's rum based with lime, coconut water, and soda, which made it super fizzy and very refreshing. I really liked it and commented on how good it was to the bartender, who told me they are hoping to can it soon. It came in a fun skull mug too! I also got the chicken karaage, which was a generous portion that could be split between two people for a snack. I ended up eating it all for my dinner and especially loved the soy and ginger pickled veggies that came on the plate. They were so good I'd honestly order the pickles on their own if it was an option! The chicken was tender and juicy and the dipping sauce was tasty. I think the chicken could've been a tiny bit crispier, but I would still order it again. The outdoor space is cool with plenty of shade and lots of seating, and it's dog-friendly. Service has always been good with one bartender in particular, have to learn their name next time. Definitely a unique spot that's a bit different than your typical brewery!

We had to wait about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. The drinks were okay for the price but not particularly memorable. The standout was the NY strip steak, which was easily the best part of the meal and really well done. We also ordered the beer battered fries to start and they were fine, nothing bad but nothing special about them either. My only real complaint is the limited menu availability. Two of the six entrées were already sold out by the time we got there, even though my partner made the reservation weeks in advance. I understand the realities of a farm to table model and respect the commitment to sourcing and seasonality, but on a fixed, high-demand holiday, the limited options were noticeable and slightly disappointing . Overall it was still a good experience, just one that could have been better with a bit more menu flexibility. Hoping to be back on a less busy day in the summer since I really want to love this restaurant!
