    Broadway Burger

Love, love, love the Christmas theme and décor. Service was fantastic and made us feel like family. Food portions are a good size for the price. It's mostly burgers, burrito, and some other fried items like fries and mozzarella sticks. I went for the Broadway Burger, which was two patties on Texas toast, and really enjoyed it. The burrito is HUGE! Fries left little to be desired, but I wasn't expecting gourmet. Good drink list and choice of beers.

Went for Christmas decorations with a group of. We had reservations we made a more than a month ago . I think they may be sold out but you can always try to grab a seat at the bar , family owned and the whole family was working on a Saturday. Great burgers and burritos, try the mini corn dog appetizer, so tasty . Great prices , no draft beer but a great selection and the cocktails are a good pour , great shot and beer spot

Broadway Bar was recommended to us by another bar owner in town and I am glad that we stopped in. It is definitely a 'dive bar' and I mean that in a good way. We were promptly greeted and sat at the bar. It is a small place that celebrates Christmas all year round. The bar has Christmas decorations up for 'Christmas in July' and more decorating will happen throughout the rest of the year. The bar could use a deep clean, but it is not gross or off putting. The owner's daughter was our bartender and was very friendly and conversive. She recommended we have their pretzel. The pretzel is so large that they custom ordered a hanger for it. The pretzel was very soft and the beer cheese was some of the best that I have ever had. We visited a second time during our trip and I got the ham and cheese and it was fantastic. If.you are looking for good drinks, conversation and food- Broadway Bar is a good place to stop.

    Broadway Bar during Christmas time!!!

The ultimate Christmas bar experience in Grand Rapids! I love this place! We go here every December to get our fun and festive Christmas fix! The entire place is decked out in Christmas decor!!! When you go here, you are going to get your classic bar food... burgers, chicken strips, onion rings, cheese curds, etc... and it's all so good! Two major things I don't like... -You can't make reservations over the phone. You literally have to go there in person to make reservations. That sincerely makes no sense to me. What about people who don't live nearby? And speaking of reservations... you LITERALLY need to make reservations weeks in advance. Like... I would call in September or October!!! -They don't accept cards... only cash. And no one told us that. Luckily, there is an ATM there. But they should have told us when we made our reservation that they don't accept cards. Other than these things... it's a great place to have some holiday fun!

Great Westside bar. Awesome decorations. Drinks are poured well. Service was remarkable. My group had onion rings and cheese curds as appetizers. Both good. All 3 of us ordered burgers. Cheeseburger, olive burger and bacon cheeseburger. All 3 were delicious. The star of the night was the cheese curds. Wow, so good!

Great ambience and fun staff despite an odd looking exterior. Very busy but the burger was great!

Before all the Miracle pop up Christmas bars, there was Broadway Bar in Grand Rapids. I can't say for sure but it definitely seems like Broadway Bar has been around forever. They're famous for their Christmas decorations and start taking reservations in March for the holidays! My boyfriend and I called to make a reservation at the beginning of December and were told they only had reservations open for lunch during the week and that all dinner spots were full for the rest of the month. They do allow walk-ins for seats at the bar which is first come, first served. When we arrived at our time the whole bar was open so we decided to just sit there. The entire place was completely covered in decorations - there is a lot to look at and it's really festive. You can tell they really love getting into the spirit which is fun. My favorite was the really cool vintage Happy Holidays sign and the train that goes around the whole bar (look up)! Super fun and kitschy. The food menu is pretty standard dive bar fare, with some higher than normal prices for their signature items that seem correlated to the time of year. We ordered the Broadway burrito and the Broadway burger ($14 each). Our server was Kim and she was great! Very polite and friendly and quick with refills and taking our order. The food didn't take long at all and it was super hot when it came out. The burrito is massive, definitely large enough to share or make into two meals. There was a ton of melty cheese and delicious sauce on the burrito. It's stuffed with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and onion -- no beans, which is my preference anyway. The burger is also really big! They don't use frozen patties, they make their burgers fresh and the Broadway burger has double patties on Texas toast. It was difficult to eat as-is but Kim told us, "there's no right or wrong way to eat a Broadway burger!" So we split it into halves and ate it as an open-faced burger. The toppings on the burger were all fresh and the meat was seasoned nicely. The crinkle fries were also great or you can upgrade to onion rings or tator tots. They have a full bar but no draft beer, just cans/bottles. I'm really happy we got to check out Broadway Bar during the holiday season! I don't think I need to come back every year but it was a fun and unique experience.

SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF!! The bartenders are the most friendly, genuine people I've ever met. We live only a few blocks away and will be going way more often! It makes you feel right at home when you're there. Super quaint dive bar and perfect during the holiday season! I probably wouldn't go if you're looking for an upscale meal/cocktail but if you want a super fun place to relax and have a beer, then you will love it here!! Lastly, the burrito is the size of a small child. I'm not kidding when I say it's atleast 5 pounds worth of food!

I've been coming here for 20 years. The burgers are so delicious. If you're looking for the best bar burger this is your place. Nothing fancy but so good. The owners are fantastic and are always up for a conversation. This is also known as the Christmas bar. So if you plan on going any time in November or December you'll need reservations. The place is very small and only sits about 30 people. So go down and support this local establishment and get yourself the best burger in Grand Rapids.

You're paying for the ambiance and the fact that's it's a popular dive bar. Food is fine, but portions are small and overpriced.

I had to try the elote deviled eggs, which was a combo I had never considered but I'm so glad someone did! I also got the truffle mac and cheese and a house salad. Both were excellent! I was surprised at how long it took for the 2 hosts to greet us - as we were standing directly in front of them. They were talking to one another, and it was probably work related, but to just stand there staring at them for a couple minutes while they ignored us was awkward. When they finally talked to us they weren't very friendly. Anyway, we made our way to the bar and it was full except for 3 seats. I think the bartender waiting on us was new. He seemed like he was pretty overwhelmed/in the weeds. He greeted us quickly and brought us waters when he did, which I appreciated. I ordered a Blackeberry Bourbon Sour and my Mr had Paloma Nuestra. We both enjoyed our drinks they were refreshing and well crafted. For dinner I had a really hard time deciding! I wanted to try so many things! Our bartender said his favorite thing in the menu is the chicken and rice bowl. That was something I was considering and decided to go with that. Excellent recommendation! The chicken was flavorful and so tender. The hot peppers were a nice touch. There was a lot of food too! I couldn't finish it all. Mr had the hanger steak that was served with mushroom and asparagus risotto. He said the risotto was the best he's ever had, and I agree. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and so was the steak. The space is really nice, felt intimate without being overcrowded. We are looking forward to coming back!

What a disappointment, but not nearly as much as our experience at 123 Tavern. We came in at 4:15PM before the Brandi Carlile show needing a table for a party of 8-10. The place was fully booked (but only half full at that time) except the bar (first-come, first-served). Fair enough -- but from the moment we walked up, the manager at the host stand couldn't have cared less. She quoted a two-hour wait, shut down my question about sitting outside with a flat no, and pointed us toward the bar. No sense of customer service at all. Like zero. The three of us who were there took the last open seats at the bar. Then came the real show: one bartender for the entire restaurant AND bar. He ignored us for ten minutes. My wife and friend got their beers quickly -- but my bourbon sat finished at the service station for another seven minutes while I watched the large ice cube melting as it marinated there. When I finally asked where my drink was, I got "I'm working on it." When he did finally bring it, he pushed it across the bar at me -- no apology, no eye contact, his attention on anything but me. I'll be honest about what I can't prove: I've worked in this industry a long time, and the whole thing read like my service got intentionally slow-walked. My drink held back while everyone around me was taken care of. Maybe the front manager said something after our rocky start at the host stand. Maybe they're just all bad at their jobs. I can't tell you which. I can only tell you how obvious it felt from the barstool. Everything after was the same; menus, ordering, closing out, all a slog. I had to hunt down that same manager for our check so we could get to the show, and she was all attitude, zero help. We only escaped because my wife flagged a server who found a another manager. His response to hearing all this? "I'm sorry." Nothing else. No attempt to make it right. For the first time in my life, I left $0 on a $100 tab. I'm a 25%+ tipper. That's how badly this went. Here's the thing, 123 Tavern: if you're going to bill yourself as a place to gather before events, staff the place and train your managers to act like they want customers there. Until then, I'll spend my money somewhere that values it.

The theming is truly off the charts with so many cool things everywhere you look. I've been in both the lower and upper floors of the restaurant and the fun follows all throughout. The food was good and had good portion sizes. The menu has a lot of Hawaiian and Asian flavors represented. The drink menu is massive with a great section of NA mocktails that were really fairly priced. We got drinks and entrees and the entire process took around 45 minutes with me struggling to decide what to order. The service is really attentive without being overbearing. The use of both servers and food runners allowed for the process to be quick while not feeling rushed at all. Our server also gave great recommendations and was helpful throughout the night. We had reservations and did have to wait about a half an hour to be seated, but we were brought to a table in an intimate little nook which made the wait worth it. To be honest, you shouldn't have to wait that long when you have reserved a table as a specific time. Russell was our server and greeted us immediately. Other staff members actually brought out the food we ordered but rusted check on us occasionally. He was personable and friendly. We started with cocktails. Hubby had the Penicillin cocktail substituting in bourbon. I had the non-alcoholic Orange Creamsicle. I love that Max's had a few NA options among their huge cocktail list. We shared the wonton nachos as a starter, which had huge cubes of tuna on top the lightest wontons along with wakame, jalapenos, edamame, avocado, and pineapple salsa. Amazing! For dinner hubby had the drunken noodles, black garlic chicken thighs with cabbage, brussels sprouts, carrots and peppers on top of rice noodles with peanut sauce. I tasted his dish, and it was so flavorful and the chicken was very tender. I ordered the tuna poke bowl, sushi rice surrounded by wakame, avocado, carrots, shallots, and edamame then topped with poke sauce. So good! I did have to send it back, though, because the tuna came out with furikake after I told our server that I don't do seeds. The kitchen flubbed up, but they were happy to make my dish seed free. This restaurant was definitely a fun visit and it reminded me of Kon-Tiki-Ports in Chicago. If you're in the Grand Rapids area, I do recommend stopping by for dinner or sit at the bar for one of their cocktail creations. The atmosphere is fantastic!
