It is a beautiful glossy thick pages coffee table magazine and gives you a good glimpse of how "they" live and what they do. It has beautiful covers of mostly celebrities and articles about philanthropy, people doing good things, artists, architects, chefs, car collectors, fashion designers, fashion, events, food etc. It's rather like the magazines out of the New York Times. My friends ask me to bring them back for them. It looks like it costs a pretty penny to publish it quarterly. That's the first thing I do when I cruise through Carmel....do my magazine run. It really is a good read.....better than US magazine.

I have held off on the review because I thought that my first couple of times was a fluke. I happen to visit the store during one of their 50% sales. I felt very lucky, until I realized that they are charging $28 for a book that is originally $19.99. Sure if it was vintage I'm all for it. It is not vintage. It is as if I walked into a bookstore and purchased it for a dollar off. I think that is astoundingly vile. I would support this bookstore more often, if I did not find that they double their prices from the original price, on items that are not vintage items that have been printed past 2020. Cookbooks, journals, art, books, etc. In addition, they have someone who destroys vintage books by using duct tape to fix bindings. They will take an antique (over 100 yrs) book and use duct tape to keep the covers together and they will have the audacity to charge you as if the book was worth anything after they've done that to it. They will have a little note inside the book that says "Rare Book, etc., etc. repaired and charge you $80 or more and the book looks like a monstrosity. It is not done well. It is not accurate. It is not decent. It is not within boundaries. This is not repair, this is sacrilege. I would rather receive the book bound with a rubber band holding the two covers together and I could take it to a book maker and have it fixed. Once you use that kind of tape on the covers, they are ruined. Do not double the price on modern books at sale times. Do not double the price on books that are not vintage. That is just wrong. Do not try to put 15 books in a paper bag. It's not going to hold. Give more than one bag. If somebody's willing to buy many books, give up some bags. We spent the money we are worth more thane one paper bag. You guys need to work on your customer service.

The last print was to be picked up in person, instead they shipped and did not notify me. It was stolen. The replacement print was delivered damaged. Julia Christopher brought a police officer to my home, claiming insurance fraud. It was not, and the gallery refunded my payment. Julia, while in my home, was incredibly rude, making absurd accusations all of which were refuted by the police officer (also there in person). I communicated my experience with Carol, then the owner, who apologized and supported the immediate refund. I would never shop at this gallery again, nor would I recommend it to any photography lover. This morning as I was looking at one of the prints I purchased from them I was reminded of this terrible experience and the treatment from Julia and felt compelled to write a review- especially when I saw that Julia now the owner.

It's a shame because there are so few good stores in this area. I went to all of them today and didn't find one that was a strong comic book store. If you like certain collectibles, you'll find a lot here, but if you're looking for comic books (which this store is listed) then you might be disappointed. SELECTION: Definitely packed full of product but I find that these types of stores in the end don't do well because product that doesn't sell sits on the shelves so long they gather dust. Not focused enough. And the comic wall isn't well stocked. SERVICE: Helpful in explaining why there isn't a lot in stock but too bad because this place has lots of potential. In a waning market this is the most well positioned store to do well. If they only did an ordering service, it would likely solve some of their problems. COST: Reasonable but not exceptional. Instead of going the collectibles route (I would definitely have collectibles but not the fad kind), I would go the comic book / gaming / sports card route. Card collectibles are of high value and take up so very little space. Funkos are great, but to give them shelf space they aren't worth it.

Owner definitely has an issue that needs to be resolved immediately. As for the contents of the store, it sadly left a lot to be desired. Comics were not sorted alphabetically on the shelves, older guy sitting behind the counter made it clear he did not want to be bothered, and some of the merchandise was WAY TOO expensive. I understand he has a shop in the Del Monte Shopping Center so renting the space can be pricey, but $30 for a "normal" Funko Pop that isn't a Chase, or special edition, is just plain ridiculous. Hot Topic on the other side of the shopping center had the exact same Funko Pop for $11.90 My partner found a cool Batman graphic novel, but by that point I felt like I was gonna be sick due to the mold smell, so I had to leave. I hope the owner can get their priorities straight, and take care of the store before someone does get sick.

the owner of this shop assaulted my friend with a nutcracker…read more in a complete accident, my friend knocked over a nutcracker and unfortunately slightly damaged it (a fixable matter and could have even been sold at a discount rate). he immediately said he would pay for it we apologized and decided to leave as to not cause any more issues. as we were trying to leave the owner began to yell at us saying "i wouldn't have made you pay for it but you should have offered" and we apologized again but he was getting more aggressive and we just wanted to remove ourselves from the situation. he came out of the store and literally BOOED at us as we were walking away. as we continued on down the street and turned the corner, the owner had FOLLOWED us to violently throw the nutcracker at my friend. the nutcracker fully smashed and the owner, a sad bitter excuse for a man, said (like a child fighting on the playground) "you broke it first!!!" truly cannot believe anyone would do this and no one should support this nasty mole man or his business.
