the owner of this shop assaulted my friend with a nutcracker. in a complete accident, my friend knocked over a nutcracker and unfortunately slightly damaged it (a fixable matter and could have even been sold at a discount rate). he immediately said he would pay for it we apologized and decided to leave as to not cause any more issues. as we were trying to leave the owner began to yell at us saying "i wouldn't have made you pay for it but you should have offered" and we apologized again but he was getting more aggressive and we just wanted to remove ourselves from the situation. he came out of the store and literally BOOED at us as we were walking away. as we continued on down the street and turned the corner, the owner had FOLLOWED us to violently throw the nutcracker at my friend. the nutcracker fully smashed and the owner, a sad bitter excuse for a man, said (like a child fighting on the playground) "you broke it first!!!" truly cannot believe anyone would do this and no one should support this nasty mole man or his business. read more

The owner is a bitter old man with no decorum. He insisted that we pay for a nutcracker with a small ding that was knocked off the shelf. After we politely left the store, the owner loudly booed us before following us around the block to throw the totally repairable nutcracker at my friend and exclaiming, "You broke it first!" Thankfully nobody was harmed. However, I can't say the same for the nutcracker, who was slammed against the concrete in a fit of rage and immaturity. read more

thinking about stopping at a seemingly cute little christmas shop around the holidays? well DONT GO HERE. My friends and I, visiting all the way from out town, just wanted a wholesome day. With the intentions of buying holiday trinkets, perhaps an ornament or something to remember our time together, we came across this store. My friend accidentally knocked over a nutcracker, which upset the owner (understandably). However, instead of working to correct the situation, he escalated things and my friends removed themselves from the situation. At this point, disappointed but open to forgiveness, a few of us considered even going back until being boo'd from across the street. Quickly removing ourselves from the situation, he found us over three blocks away from the store and THREW a wooden nutcracker at my friend, narrowly missing her, then yelling "you broke it first." After this experience, I can't with good heart recommend this business to anyone, as it is run by a man who clearly has a hard time regulating his emotions in a healthy way. So please, if you'd like to get in the Christmas spirit and make memories with your friends, I would HIGHLY encourage you to go support another local business who treats others with the golden rule: treat others how you'd like to be treated. A sad start to a joyous season. read more

the owner kind of yelled at us for taking pictures when there weren't any signs saying that we couldn't take pictures? and he was so passive aggressive about it. "Pictures!!!!!! so many pictures!!!! Just don't post this on the internet!!!" with such a condescending tone. he made us feel so uncomfortable i just wanted to leave. but looking at yelp, it's clear other people took photos as well? I wonder if they got yelled at too. he was so rude about it.... and it's not like we were being really loud and disturbing or even vlogging or taking videos? all that attitude over a simple photo was crazy. If he didn't want us to take photos, there are nicer ways to let us know. honestly anything would be better than how he treated us. i hope he has a good day bc he sure needs one read more

The cutest shop ever!! We just can't believe how unique and beautiful and cute the things this store carries! An absolute delight to shop here and the owner is super friendly to show case their stuff. The little jewelry boxes, music boxes, sand art, just to name a few; we spent an hour here lingering and playing and admiring all the goods. A must stop for unique and good taste gifts. read more

We don't get to this area as much as I'd like, but I always make a stop at The Mole Hole when we are in town as it's my favorite store. Even if I don't buy anything, I still like to come in to look. I'm slowly collecting a few Wee Folk figurines and this place has an abundance of them. They also have plenty of other collectible and unique items. The owner, Peter, is always friendly and willing to answer questions, especially about the Wee Folk figurines. He also recommended a wonderful restaurant. read more

Wonderful little shop in Carmel, filled with unique and beautiful items. The store is well laid out and the owner, Peter, is very friendly and most helpful. I needed to purchase an item, but was unable to do so on the spot. Peter gave me his contact info and I ordered it from home after I had returned. Wonderful store. I love Christmas. So many stunning ornaments and the Santa collections are just beautiful. I love snow globes, and they had quite a few. I couldn't decide which one to pick. This is sincerely the most charming shop in Carmel! The owner, Peter, is fabulous. As the other reviews said- this is a destination when we're in town. This tiny shop bursts with pizzazz. Prices are great- and in all ranges for the splurge to the trinkets. Peter loves his items and loves to show them off and that makes a difference. Our home has so many items that create joy thru their own existence. Although it's located centrally in Carmel,anyone can find a meaningful item that is affordable and I'm a worker bee much like many readers. We visit every Christmas,sometimes in between and the store is always a must visit. can't wait to return as I need more whimsically colour for our home. Many decor stores have relocated OUT of Carmel due to increasing rents,but Mole Hole remains a constant. Me & My Boyfriend love going to Carmel to eat and walk the beaches. This is our favorite spot in town and often the main reason for visiting. They have so many cute nick knacks, wonderful gifts and lovely items to put around the house. I never leave without finding something to take home with me. It's also just entertaining and last but not least.. The man who owns and runs this place is so friendly and amazing, he knows absolutely every item by heart. He never has to look anything up and always knows great details about the items and seems genuinely excited and happy for customers and his merchandise.
