Love this neighborhood market downtown Stillwater. Right amongst all the great shops and restaurants. It's a mainstay, lots of grab and go items, bakery, smaller grocery market, full of organic and fresh salads, sandwiches, soups, etc. Great place to pickup some items before heading down to the river for a picnic. You can also eat on a patio in the back they have tables available. I got the Italian sandwich, it was delicious, fresh Italian meat selection, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, oil and vinegar. Yum! Picked up some chips and a freshly made pumpkin muffin and walked down to the river. At checkout they were rounding up for the local library, which I love, support local! read more

Stopped by today to get some ingredients for making dog biscuits that no other stores except River Market carry. While I was there, I bought whole nutmeg to try for some holiday recipes. Enjoyed the variety of soaps scented with essential oils and the lavender-scented lotion that could be sampled. Using so much hand sanitizer due to the pandemic has dried out my hands, and the lotion was just what I needed. It's always a joy to go to River Market and try new products and return for the ones that I can't find anywhere else. read more

There is parking in the back if no space in front. I typically really enjoy a good co-op. I wander in here specifically for the Evan Healy skincare products and they are always out of the ones I want and it makes me wonder why? The prices are way too high for this gal and when it comes to my groceries I'm not exactly a bargin shopper but I do have my limits and sensibilities still. I don't partake of open food areas but notice their hot food bar seems to be quite popular so maybe that's the draw. read more

I strolled through here on a Saturday evening looking for something warm to accompany me on my walk. It's a pretty small location compared to the other few co-ops in the chain but I liked it. It wasn't busy at all for downtown Stillwater on a weekend. Some items seem a little out of place due to lack of space. The deli is nice and I picked up some vegan squash soup for less than $5. It was hearty with coconut and Indian spices. Sweet and savory. Pleasantly surprised. read more

When I go to a co-op I assume 2 things: it will be expensive and there will be a wide variety of things that make me happy. The River Market Co-Op in Stillwater definitely meets my assumptions. This has to be my favorite Co-Op in the twin cities area. The selection is much better than many Co-Ops that I have been to, especially their bulk selection. I love being able to get spices, dried beans, teas, and more without having to resort to disposable containers. They allow me to bring my own jars and weigh them at the station. I load up on goodies every week or so! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. They all seem to enjoy working there which bodes well for the establishment's employee treatment. Yes, it is an expensive grocery. That is to be expected when you go to a Co-Op. I for one am willing to pay more to support a business that represents my dietary, moral, and environmental views. I love this Co-Op and I hope it sticks around for a very long time. read more

I always eat here when I come to Still water: it is what a small co op should be. They have small but tasty selection of cooked foods salad bar soups fruits vegetables you name it again it's a small one but it does the job. It has three tables on the river side if you wanna eat outside and has a weird underground restrooms. Service, location and parking are excellent. read more

I've been a member since about 1992, back when it cost $10 to join and we earned our membership by spending four hours a month packaging cheese or cleaning floors. I have mixed feelings about River Market in its current form. The store is spacious and well-organized. I'm delighted that it serves as a usable grocery option right in downtown Stillwater and has a wide selection of foods that anyone would eat, not just bags of whole grains that taste like bird seed. That said, it is so pricey that in these lean economic times, I can rarely afford to shop there. And to top it off, last time I was in the manager told me that it now costs $70 to join and they would like me to pony up the difference in membership fees--never mind that they had months of my free labor back in the day. Stillwater is generally a wealthy community, and I think River Market management incorrectly assumes that all their customers are all well-heeled foodies. Sorry guys, I wish you were a little less highbrow. read more

This market has some of the best looking (and tasting) produce in the Twin Cities. I'm not sure if they get it from different sources than the other co-ops around town, or if it's just in the way they display it, but every time I come here, I am inspired to buy twice as much produce as normal. They also have a great bulk section. Try the Charlie Brown's Fantasy sandwich when you stop by the deli. It's peanut butter, cream cheese, raisins, apple slices and sprouts. They will even make it vegan for you if you buy a tub of vegan cream cheese. Another bonus...they cater!! read more

The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 star is because of the price. The food is bomb, if you go immediately to the left when you walk in there is a small deli that can make you a huge array of delectable (non-deep fried) lunches. I work across the street and everything I have gotten from this place has been great. Also though it reminds me to cook at home more since you can watch them do most of the simple prep work with their simple grocery product and charge you 3 fold. read more

They have a nice selection of healthy snacks. The dried fruits are reasonably priced.

I gratefully appreciate having a year round farmers market readily available for me in my own town. This grocery store is as good as it can get in MN when it comes to fresh local vegetables. The prices are competitive and the products are top of the line. I feel great every time I shop here knowing I'm supporting both myself and the community around me:) read more

I wish I liked this place. It's a local co-op and as a born & raised, Stillwater resident, I want so badly to support them. But they won't let me. I've tried many times over the past few years to "give them another try" but they always fail me. Their selection of vegetarian and vegan items is just sad. Cub Foods and Target have a wider/better selection at a better price. I really can't bear it. But because I am a local, I will keep trying and hoping that they offer a wider variety at competitive prices with other grocers (Mississippi Market, Whole Foods, The Wedge). read more

I love my co-ops but hate that there aren't any out by my parents' house in North Hudson... that is, until I discovered River Market. I absolutely love this place and their gorgeous bulk section. I am also a huge produce nut and I found persimmons here (my favorite fall food when I lived in Japan... who knew they were tucked away in Stillwater?) Definitely a great place to get fresh, organic produce at a fair price. Also, the selection of local products is also commendable- and local wine is just down the street! read more

Great co-op for a town of this size. We grabbed lunch from their deli. I had a veggie and hummus wrap along with vegan cream of mushroom soup. I loved the soup. Fresh and flavorful. A 5-star soup. My wife just got the wrap. The wrap was what we expected, can't go wrong with hummus and avocado. Combined $18, so not bad at all. The rest of the co-op has a good variety of produce, baked goods and natural groceries. The home and body product selection is a little lacking. read more

Nice place, quality products, but it's obviously a co-op for the affluent to feel good about themselves while they wear overpriced artistic clothing and drive around in their brand-new plug-in-Priuses. I remember when it was up the hill (and elsewhere in downtown before that). It used to be a 'real' co-op. Crunchy and reasonable. Now, this place is 'holy crap' expensive and pretentious. read more

A grocery store you can feel good about going to! The staff is always really helpful and friendly. If you're hungry when you go in, grab a snack from the cafe in the back and eat while you shop. The bulk foods area is nice and where you'll find most dry ingredients. read more

This co-op was GREAT! We stopped in in th morning to grab some sandwich fixings for the next day of our road trip and found great items! AND the breakfast burrito bar produced the tastiest burrito I think we've had in a long time! Good spot to stop and stock up if your like use and travel on snacks and sandwiches rather than hitting lots of restaurants or settling for fast food! read more

This store is so clutch! Great location right along the Main Street strip. They could beef up their salad bar to include a better hot bar, but otherwise, it has the staples you come to expect from the chain of co-ops all throughout the state. I highly recommend this place! read more

Excellent variety, staff is friendly and I like the location. There is a good deli that I like to grab something to eat at whenever I am there (rather than getting fast food) that has a lot of choices. Only place I have found Ice chips candy at! read more

River Market's selection and overall vibe definitely sets the tone....although some of the going rates aren't negotiable, shopping for necessity on sale items, freezables or rare commodities, definitely satisfies the experience. It's also helpful that the staff is knowledgable and will help you find the answer to your question.
