I found Assembled on YELP (I do love YELP) and she arrived with her assistant and got right to work. They clearly knew what they were doing. They not only set up the sofa, the also set up the speaker system and made sure it all worked properly (pretty awesome). It didn't stop there -- they broke down all the boxes, cut them into squares and bagged everything up. Tina even took out a little vacuum and swept the floor where they set everything up. I continued with emails and got in contact with the manager who in turn got me in contact with their delivery carrier Maersk/Site Manager- Final Mile Operation. I basically got treated by Maersk like it was my fault-I've sent pictures and never heard back! All I wanted was some acknowledgment of the damages, a caring attitude, and an apology. I ended up repairing the damage myself. What's funny is I was giving the delivery guy privacy to get his job done and even gave a decent tip! And he couldn't even say Hey I put a dent in your wall and please call this number and they will take care of it. I spent over $6,000 at this store and would think they would care.

The only business that had more than a couple of customers was the View Wine Bar, in the middle of an otherwise busy weekend afternoon where other businesses where packed and a farmer's market filled the plaza with foot traffic. This area has a variety of complementary but non-competing businesses clustered together: a braiding/blow-dry bar and a tanning salon, a portrait studio and an art shop, a candy store and kid's clothing shop, and a surprisingly stunning décor store. Several of them seemed to be hurting for business though, with a single bored-looking employee and no customers. Property management seems to be making an effort to direct traffic this way: there are standing easels in the outdoor plaza pointing to the entrances in the area, there is a dedicated elevator in the parking garage, and extensive wall-art encouraging visitors to stop in and explore. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working.

It's definitely nicer looking than the regular Goodwill stores and the layout is organized which I liked. The staff was also friendly and welcoming when I walked in, and I thought it was nice that they offer water and the bathrooms are clean too. So the experience walking around wasn't bad at all. But the pricing is what completely threw me off. Almost everything felt way overpriced for a thrift store. I saw a lot of bags that were clearly knockoffs or inspired designer styles marked at $50-$60 or even more sometimes. Paying that much for a fake designer bag just doesn't make sense to me. If it was authentic that would be different, but for something that isn't real it feels kind of crazy. Even the clothes felt really high for secondhand items. Yes, some pieces looked a little nicer than what you'd normally see at a regular Goodwill, but it still didn't feel reasonable for used clothing. I'm honestly not sure who is putting the price tags on these items but they might want to do a little research because the pricing doesn't match the value. It's kind of frustrating because thrift stores used to be a place where you could find good deals or unique pieces without spending a ton. That's part of the fun of thrifting, finding something special that not everyone else has. Now it seems like some secondhand stores are trying to charge department store prices, which kind of defeats the whole purpose. I do like the idea of this store and the atmosphere is nice, but the pricing really needs to be reconsidered. If the prices were more reasonable I would probably shop here more often, but right now it just feels way too high for what it is.
