I booked a 2-hour private mineral soak overlooking the vineyard and unfortunately left very disappointed. About an hour into my reservation, a staff member entered my private soaking area while I was nude. I called the front desk and was told it was likely due to a shift change mistake. At the end of my soak, once the jets turned off, I noticed visible buildup/discoloration inside the tub that made me seriously question how well it had been cleaned before my appointment. When I brought my concerns and photos to the front desk, there was very little response or acknowledgment. To their credit, I later noticed a partial refund had been issued, but after also sending an email directly to the business and waiting nearly two weeks without any response, I felt compelled to share my experience publicly. The location and vineyard setting are beautiful, but for the price and type of experience being offered, I expected much better privacy standards, cleanliness, and customer service. read more

We did the Wine Maker package, which included a 1-hour soak followed by a 1-hour massage, and it was such a perfect, relaxing experience from start to finish. The property is beautiful, super clean, and incredibly peaceful exactly what you want in a hot springs spa. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and welcoming. A special shoutout to Jolyn, who was my massage therapist she was AMAZING. I was celebrating my birthday, and she truly made my visit feel extra special. Her massage was incredible, and I left feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. My boyfriend had Joshua, and he also had an amazing experience he couldn't stop raving about how great his massage was. Lastly, Keana at the front desk was so friendly and helpful, which really set the tone for the entire visit. Oct 19, 2025. Reserved tub 19 for the view but at 145 pm it was in full sun. I had assumed all the tubs had bed. Set up with trees for shade or the fencing shaded them. This tub looked very clear with clear water. We were moved yo number 26 which we suspect was dirty as they first told us they would have to games up another tub to live us. Suddenly 16 was already hot. Well my daughter commented the water was murky and yellow. Not like the first tub we had reserved. It was hot out and not wanting to climb the hill back to lobby again we trusted them and took it but couldn't help doubting it was clean and our soak was not relaxing. My daughter kept finding long black hairs in the decking by the tub. The decking clearly was not clean and Trash is not dumped from the can between guests. The landscaping adjacent the tubs as you walk to end from them is just grass. It needs shrubs. The oath is only paved on concrete half way down then it turns to awful pea gravel that always gets into your flip flops and you are trying to stand on one leg and dump rocks hurting your feet. The decking by tub has soft spots in the wood now and needs refurbishment. Overall I feel that if I can't trust I'm not soaking in used water and it's yellow and murky I can't come back. This stresses me, doesn't relax me. And overall I think some investment is needed in maintenance and upgrades. Finish the concrete pathway to tubs. Trudging in gravel isn't a luxury experience. Sweep the decks between guests for hair and more. read more

A great way to start a vacation is by soaking in a therapeutic mineral spring tub and receiving a relaxing massage. This Hot Springs spa has been here for over 16 years. When it was first built, it was very remote and surrounded by grassy hills. Weddings have been held here along with other events. Now fast forward to 2025 and houses are everywhere and more are being built daily. This was such a relaxing experience first thing in the morning. The artesian mineral water just feels so good on the body and loosens up the muscles. I arrived early and was able to really enjoy my soak. I had a nice room all to myself with some distant vineyard views. Once my soak was complete which was 30 minutes complimentary, I headed for my massage. I opted for a Hot Stone Massage (a favorite). Jane was my masseuse. She has been in the business for thirty years and she knew what she was doing. Definitely one of the best Hot Stone massages I have ever had. The spa was tidy and clean and there were showers to use after treatments. Locker rooms, showers, his/hers bathrooms, robes, slippers, towels, drinks (including wine) are all included. Parking is easy as they have their own private lot. The grounds are just gorgeous and I wish I would have had time to sit outside and just take in the beauty of the surrounding area. TIP: There is a ton of construction going on in the area right now so be prepared to hear trucks and other equipment being used while you are in the mineral water soaking tubs. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE over the last couple of years. I've been here many times, but now the tubs are regularly left full on of 75 degree warm (feels cool), murky water. The are filled so full that there is no room to add hot water from the mineral springs without overflowing the tub. If the tubs overflow, the overflow will turn off the tub electronics, which were ingeniously placed directly below the tubs. I have asked multiple times for the tubs to be drained so that hot water can be added, and the staff is never able to do it. When these issue are mentioned to staff, they argue that everything should be fine instead of jumping up, apologizing, and fixing the problem. Lackluster service and terrible tub service. If this business was any good, they'd make changes and preemptively offer to perform quality service in anticipation of guest's desires. read more

Email sent 4/25: Hello, I'm hoping this email reaches the right person. Yesterday, we had a spa day with four appointments for two couples, and while most of our experience was lovely, there was one interaction at the beginning that left us very disappointed. I want to start by saying that all of our interactions with the staff--aside from the woman who initially greeted and checked us in--were warm and pleasant. When we booked, and in the reminder texts we received, our appointments were listed for 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM. The first couple arrived at 12:45 PM as instructed to begin their spa day. At that time, the front desk associate asked where the rest of our group was, and when my friend explained that our appointments were scheduled for 1:30 PM, she responded quite rudely, insisting that we were incorrect and that 1:30 PM was only the massage start time--which was confusing and did not make much sense based on the information we had received. Because of this, our friends called us to rush over so we wouldn't miss part of our spa day, and we arrived by 1:15 PM. When we checked in, the same front desk associate did not greet us at all. She came across as cold, rude, and extremely unwelcoming. Rather than acknowledging that the appointment reminders were confusing for all four of us, she seemed dismissive and uninterested in helping resolve the situation or offering even a simple apology. Before heading to our first soak, after we had changed into our robes (around 1:20 PM), I asked if I could order a glass of wine. Her response was, "You don't have enough time, but if you want one, it costs extra and I can get it for you." The tone felt very passive-aggressive and left me genuinely shocked. It was not the kind of customer service response I would expect in what is supposed to be a relaxing, welcoming spa environment, and it made me feel quite uncomfortable. The rest of the day was enjoyable, and the remaining staff were wonderful, but this initial interaction affected the overall experience for all four of us. Our experience was good overall, and we did enjoy the spa, but the check-in process was really disappointing. When we arrived, the older woman who checked us in didn't ask if it was our first time or explain anything about the experience. Because of that, we didn't know we were supposed to change before going to the spa, weren't told about using the pixie dust, and weren't offered robes. We were given no guidance at all, which made it frustrating to later see other guests being warmly welcomed and fully informed. I really think they need to do better with first-time guests. The only thing that truly saved the experience was the young woman who checked us out--she was incredibly sweet and apologetic when I explained what happened. We tried booking an extended massage, but unfortunately, we should've booked with time - we were trying to book two days before - lesson learned! We were so happy to have done the mineral bath prior to the massage - it was relaxing! I love that they offer drinks (including sparkling wine) to add to your experience. Also, I initially thought a 30 minute mineral bath wasn't going to be enough and honestly, it felt just right and I'm also glad we did a mineral bath prior to the massage, at least my muscles didn't feel so tight during the massage. All in all, the spa provides a well rounded experience: male/female bathrooms with lockers and amenities, robes and slippers, towels, drinks, relaxing spa music, and all you need for relaxing. When we arrived we were greeted by Heather who checked us in, told us where the locker room was and instructions on how to use the private mineral bath. One hour was plenty of time. A solid spot that is affordable and clean for a nice mineral hot springs soak. Reservations are highly recommended for the weekend and we were lucky to secure one 2 days before. Initially we booked an outdoor tub and but had to change it to the indoor tub since it rained that day. The staff was very flexible with accommodating that request. After checking in, we were given a very short tour of the place since it was our first time there. The facility have its own parking lot and the bathrooms were equipped with showers, lockers and even single use brushes, makeup removers, rubber bands for your needs. Complimentary fruits and lemon iced water were also provided for all the guests. The private indoor mineral hot springs soak was very affordable for a weekend rate. $28 per person for an hour. We were assigned to tub #8. Our private room was clean and the water temperature was perfect. The room had hooks for you to hang your towels and clothes, a dish to store your silver jewelry since the mineral hot springs can cause it to tarnish. There were also two chairs and a table for you to sit and take a break from the mineral soak if it gets too hot. When your hour is up, the staff will knock the door and wait for you to gather your stuff outside. Once you exit the room, the staff will clean it for the next guests. We both had a great time and our skin felt so smooth after the soak. If you visit on a weekday, the rate is even better, $32 for 2 people for an hour soak. read more

My husband and I went on New Year's Day 2025. Check in was smooth and we had the wine down package. The private soak was perfect, the mineral bath was perfect before our couples massage. We had Swedish massages, next time we will get the deep tissue to really work our muscles. Then we rinsed off and headed out to the semi private hot tubs overlooking the vineyard with our wine. There are 5 private outdoor soaking tubs enclosed on three sides with unobstructed views of the neighboring vineyard. Highly recommend booking an outdoor tub for sunset - the views are just breathtaking! They also offer fully enclosed private soaking tubs, massages, facials and various packages such as a Wine Down Couples Package, which includes a private mineral tub, massage and outdoor vineyard tub with a wine tasting flight. I have yet to try a massage or facial here, but it is on my list. Unfortunately, you cannot book (or cancel) online so you have to do everything over the phone. Sometimes they get relatively busy so you won't be able to get ahold of anyone, and might have to call back a few times - still worth the wait in my opinion. One group had their treatments at 1:30pm and another at 3pm. So we are a bunch of girls who knows the bride - we are not all besties. The massages were mostly couple massages as I guess they don't have enough space. It was strange being completely naked with a girl I just met this weekend. Massage itself was amazing. They were both quiet and soft walkers so it was very relaxing. The indoor hot tub was really nice and fun. The changing room is very tight. all the lockers are in one space. There are a lot of lockers but the space does not fit everyone. Three showers and toilet stalls. There is a area with sinks and mirrors. The gave everyone a key, robe and towel. It was nice having a private tub/area to soak for a bit, which really relaxed us for our massages. We then took a shower before heading to the outdoor soaking tub, where we enjoyed our wine tasting and views. The facilities were pretty clean, and they provided towels, showers, bathrooms, bathrobes, sandals, water, and friendly service. Would not recommend this place to anyone. It was probably the worst experience I've ever had in Paso Robles. We were so excited to try something new in Paso but let me count the ways how underwhelming and disappointing this experience $65 per person was. The apples were also bruised and one apple definitely had a worm. When I called to make the reservation I mentioned that one was allergic to wine and if there was an option for just a soak. Well.. when we checked in it was registered for 4 sip and soaks and since the wine was poured they couldn't do anything about it and it was past the 24 hr mark. How do I know that it was for 4 soak and sips and not 3 soak and sips and one soak.. cool cool. We also stood around for 5+ minutes waiting for someone to address us and guide us to the tub. Which-- eats our time. They were non interested in helping-- nor courteous. We were told to pick up our trays and walk out the doors to a rose bush to the spa. No one walked us.. it was just lack luster. As we are walking to our spa.. so excited to see the vines we were welcomed by an oak tree and another tub as our view. When the website promotes a view of the vines and this is what you're welcomed to... wow. So disappointing. Fine, we are here for the remaining minutes going to enjoy it.. and sip our wine. The wine list was subpar compared to other reviews on Yelp. With all the fabulous wine in Paso, the wine was disappointing. To make matters worse there was a hair in the red. Tasting was: Dusi: Pinot Grigio, LeVigne: Sauvignon Blanc, J&J: Rosè, Dusi: Rosè, J&J: Tempranillo. Be willing to rent a locker and towel even though you just paid $65 for an hour soak and sub par wine. The women's handicap shower was broken. The men's shower sprayed out of the tubing from the hand held shower and the shampoo and conditioner containers were missing buttons. None of the employees seemed to care about our experience and/or us as no one was at the front desk. So, never ever again will we come back or tell anyone to visit. read more

Got the Wine Down package. As Jody S. commented, the front desk ladies are not particularly friendly or service-oriented. There were several awkward moments of standing around waiting to be acknowledged and/or guided to the next step. Very disappointing first impression for a day spa. The initial soak was nice, and the Swedish massages were stellar. However, I do NOT recommend the post-soak/wine tasting. The presentation was really basic: you get a plastic tray with five cups of wine and a tiny pack of crackers. Then you're told to walk down a long path to the outdoor spa. The water was very cloudy (didn't think much of this), and a couple hours later, my body broke out in hives. Also, at checkout, you'll be asked to tip the tub fillers (Who??). I don't mind tipping the masseuses but for the tub filling tip, maybe bundle that into the cost of the package. read more

What a great experience! We chose an outdoor tub for a 1 hr soak (no upgrades/packages). The view was great and the tub is surrounded by wood all around so that you can't see in. Bathing suits are optional, which is nice, because I did not want to potentially ruin a suit with the mineral water. Would definitely go back again! It was very relaxing. The only downside was that the water wasn't as hot as I would've liked it to be. It was a step above warm, but not "hot"; this was probably limited by how cold it was outside. read more

We originally came to River Oaks and booked an indoor/patio hot tub. It was rather dark due to the overhanging roof and the water wasn't that warm, so I wasn't impressed. Then we booked an outdoor hot tub which was sunny and hot. I recommend the outdoor tubs on a nice day since you're next to vineyards and IMO provides a better experience. River Oaks Hot Springs Spa was just what we were looking for our recent relaxing anniversary getaway. Prior to going to Pasa Robles we checked out the packages that they had to offer and found the Chocolate Lover's Package sounded intriguing as my hubby LOVES chocolate andd we just so happened to be lover's on celebrating our anniversary. The package includes a 60-minute soak in a privacy tub with a bottle of local Cabernet Sauvignon or in our case sparkling cider paired with chocolate dessert. After has two 90-minute Swedish Massages - we were IN!! and all for $355 for the entire package so we called up and booked it. We arrived at River Oaks Hot Springs warmly greeted by the receptionist, checked in and then handed our spa robes, towel and flip flops. We changed, shown our lovely privacy mineral spring soak that was actually pumped into a jetted hot tub. They shared with us that they would be back to get us for our massages when 60-minutes expired. With the temperature perfect, soaking commenced as we decompressed and enjoyed it. Next was our ahhhmazing 90-minute Swedish Massages anddd OMGoodness one of THE best massages I have had outside of my regular masseuse - TO DIE FOR!! Complete relaxation like drift off to Zen land this is where I would be going weekly if I lived in the area - literally SIGN ME UP!! I have done many different massages in many different places (I even did a mud bath during my trip to Napa!) and NO OTHER PLACE COMPARES to River Oaks Hot Springs Spa in Paso Robles. I did a couples massage package at the time and did the "Chocolate Lover's Package." Let me tell you, the cabernet and chocolate dessert combined with an hour-long jacuzzi sesh is truly a magical experience knowing you will be getting a massage shortly after. The masseuse giving my massage had such a warm and comforting vibe to her that made for a pleasant experience. Wish I remembered this angels name! I honestly want to go down to Paso Robles again just to visit here again!
