The spa area itself is rather small. No amenities other than an infrared sauna, which they said was suggested after the massage. I was offered a free scalp massage and prosecco add-on when booking my appointment over the phone. The front desk person was nice. I went in early and she told me to come back at a certain time. I think there may have been confusion with my appointment time because the email confirmation I received said one time, but verbally she said another. Despite that, it actually worked in my favor. The changing room is like a converted closet. Maybe 6 lockers. But you still have privacy since you can lock the door. I can't imagine any more than one person in there getting changed comfortably. There are no showers (but I didn't necessarily need one). After I checked in and changed, I was shown to the relaxation room. The front desk person did not point out the fruits and nuts, nor the patio, but I didn't partake in either. Now on to the massage therapist ... WOW. WOW. WOW. I can't say enough positive things about Michelle (I'm really hoping I remember her name correctly). She did a deep tissue massage and found ALL the knots. She worked them REALLY well and I can tell, as a spa enthusiast myself, that she knows what she's doing. It was an incredible deep tissue massage. Deducted 1-star because I wasn't offered the infrared spa after the massage and didn't receive the prosecco that came with the add-on. I stayed at the hotel and getting a massage was such a nice touch to my girl's trip. I would recommend the spa, more specifically, Michelle, if you're looking for a good deep tissue massage. But don't expect all the bells & whistles. And you may have to follow-up about some things that the staff won't remember. read more

Had a Swedish massage at the Allegretto. Booking was easy. It's a tiny spa. Lots of new age-y crystals and water features. The changing area was tiny and unisex (you can lock the door). However, it wasn't a problem. I could imagine it being a bottleneck. I had a massage from Sam. She was an excellent massage therapist. Price was $150 for the hour and an automatic 20% tip, so $180 in total. They had nice relaxing background music. The tables were comfy. The robes were luxurious. read more

More of a boutique spa, at least that's what they call it. It's not really what you would expect from a "resort spa experience" in that they're missing several elements that go in to a spa experience. Pretty much everyone at this resort running things has "some experience" but not a great deal. Spa is being run by someone who is very new to the area, and a lot of assumptions and lack of communication unfortunately informed my three visits to the spa during my stay. The spa director didn't have specific answers about products when asked, or even about the resort, which was very odd. The masseuse was good, though again lacking in a lot of experience, and unfortunately seemed more green and well-meaning than relaxed and confident ... but lacking in some common sense; he often either dug in too deep without carefully checking how my muscles would respond, or going so gently that rather than it feeling relaxing, would feel a bit unsettling. He also at times worked on areas I'd asked him to please leave alone. You are paying an automatic 20% gratuity whether or not you feel that it was earned. And the services are priced of course incredibly expensive, due to the fact that you're in a "resort". Never mind that they're missing a lot of the elements that traditional spa should have; a real sauna, a steam room, a large changing area where you can shower and then do your hair and make up. Overall, the spa has a feeling of being an afterthought - as if it were built after the hotel was already in place, and they felt they should add something to be able to call the hotel a "Resort & Spa". The little touches that one might be accustomed to from professional spas were lacking (hot teas, fruit, showers...) and there's literally only one toilet - which meant that unbelievably, I was left standing in my robe waiting to use the restroom twice during my visit. The decor is simple and generic, totally fine, and they have a small locker room, but I was unable to fit either my purse nor my bag with gym clothes into the locker - so the front desk needed to hang on to them. I really enjoyed my stay at Allegretto. The property is beautiful, the vibe is relaxing, and everything feels very thoughtfully designed. My room was spotless and comfortable, and every staff member I interacted with was warm and welcoming. The concierge team in particular was incredibly responsive and helpful with any questions or requests. The one big disappointment was the spa. The posted hours are not honored consistently, and several times the ladies working there were clearly trying to shut things down early and move guests out as quickly as possible. The infrared sauna closes at five even though massages are still running later, and guests are not allowed to stay and use it afterward. Even during open hours, the infrared sauna was not heated up fully, so you do not get the full benefit of the treatment. Overall, I loved the hotel and the service, but the spa feels poorly managed compared to the rest of the property. If they fixed the spa hours and made sure the amenities were actually ready for guests, this would be an easy five-star experience. read more

Wasn't the best massages we have gotten. My husband's person did not concentrate on the areas he circled. No offer of any diffusers or oil. No water at the end. My therapist talked a lot. Not a closet to hang your cloths, a rope or even a towel to wipe your body off the oil after your massage. I am bummed out that I spent that much money on that "spa" experience. Overall: unfriendly, ZERO amenities, not that comfortable. -No sufficient space or amenities for pre- and post-massage relaxation. There is a nice patio area with lounge chairs. I would have enjoyed relaxing out there for a while after my massage, but I did not feel welcome, which is probably my biggest gripe with this experience. I had read on the website that there was no sauna, steam room, or hot tub, so I arrived just a few minutes before my appointment. For me, it helps to warm up (even a hot shower) before a massage. Without this pre-massage relaxation experience, I found it difficult to warm up and relax for the experience. After my massage, I went to ask for some water and maybe sit on the patio for a while. That's when an attendant informed me there is an infrared sauna, which I wish I had known or had been offered to me. The sauna is in a hallway with curtains around it for privacy, so it's a little awkward. After finishing the sauna, I wanted to stay on the patio for a while, but the attendants seemed to be waiting for me to check out and leave, so I did. It would be nice to go and get a cup of tea anyway. The massage was nice, but I can get an amazing massage for half that price at my preferred spa in San Jose, and not feel rushed after. Note that there is no shower, just a changing room like at a retail store. Overall, I did not feel welcome. Little things like offering water (instead of me asking if I could have some) would have made a bit of a difference. For $450, I am downright flabbergasted that there is no complimentary tea or sparkling wine (it's available at resort prices). The staff were fairly icy and not approachable (a stark contrast from the hotel desk staff). You are supposed to bring your slippers from the hotel. I did not know that until I was reading spa information in the pre-massage relaxation room (super uncomfortable seating). I went to ask for slippers, and the attendant sighed and said she wasn't sure if they had any, but she'd see what she could do. They did have a pair, but it was just so awkward! I'm so sad I spent that much money on that experience- I was really looking to treat myself for my birthday. I could have gotten myself something much nicer with that money. I'll stick to my beloved Korean spas, they never do me wrong. Do yourself a favor and save your money; this place feels like a grift. read more

We would not recommend this spa, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, but the spa was very underwhelming and not worth the price. Reasons it is not a 5 star: - Staff was nice, but it didn't feel high end. They seemed frazzled and missed opportunities to treat us/explain certain things. - We're in wine country and they never offered us a glass of wine/champagne. For reference we got there early, and waited twenty minutes in a waiting room! - Did not offer for us to change into robes while we waited. - Did not show us around the spa. I had to ask if they had a sauna - they did and we tried it, however we learned it wasn't working. - Facial says it includes extractions but she did not know how to do this. Spa is something we have to do during our hotel stays. But this spa wasn't fully operational yet, the shower and steam room were out so we had to change into our robes to walk to the spa. For the prices they charged I really would've loved to be able to use the entire facility not just services. Don't waste your time going here. They have zero amenities. Their sauna was not warm at all and is purchased off Amazon. Its a joke, zero amenities. You check in, sit in a waiting room and go directly into your massage. This is NOT a high end establishment what so ever be aware of that.
