Where in Tahoe can you find fresh baked goods for $3? The gentleman inside was very nice too. We walked over from our hotel. Parking didn't seem to be a problem. I cut into the concha and it is light and not too sweet at all. And, not dry! Haven't bitten into the cookie yet because it's for the grandchild. They have a big variety of baked goods so please support this local business. Nice and clean inside too!

Pan Dulce! Yes please. Lake Tahoe Ameca Bakery bakes up some darn delicious Mexican pastries…read more I was in South Lake Tahoe, driving about being a tourist. I spotted the shopfront and its signage while driving down Lake Tahoe Blvd. That word "bakery"caught my sweet tooth's attention and off I go. The bakery is unassuming, and no frills. The gentleman at the counter was a man of few words. Kind and earnest. The various pan dulce sat so pretty within the glass cabinets. But there was no pricing. They had the pan dulce names clearly labeled though. Considering it was early afternoon, some items were scarce. But they still had enough variety to satisfy my sweet tooth. I bought some orejas (don't you dare say palmiers), polvorones (they're gorgeous tri colored happy looking butter cookies), conchas (soft bready center with sweet sugary, crisp top goodness), and butter cookies topped with shredded coconut. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and looked so cheerful. It's a true panaderia where you take a tray and tongs and serve yourself by loading up the baked goodies onto your tray. You take the tray and tongs to the cashier to pay. They'll bag up everything for you. Another important thing to know is their payment policy. They take cash, Venmo, and Zelle. No Apple Pay nor plastic.

Not sure what people are raving about with this place. Everything looks and tastes like it came in…read morefrozen from a wholesaler and then just defrosted. We got a chocolate croissant (only decent thing I got, but don't compare it to an artisanal made croissant where it's a dark golden brown with flaky crispy buttery layers). Their "croissants" are more like anemic, soft, moist bread. Also, got a cheese Danish. Starbucks sells a better cheese Danish than this place. The Danish was dry and hard and the center filling looked like it was pre-made frozen and just placed on top of the Danish. Finally, the worst of the worst, I got a personal size dutch apple crumble pie. Now THIS looked like it was made from scratch and I had hopes for this one. However, I took a piece of the crumble topping and ate it. It had an unusual funny taste. Almost like it was made with lavender. Didn't taste quite right. Then, when I got back to my hotel, I really dug into it. It wasn't just the crumble that was off, but the entire pie tasted of rancid spoiled butter. I had to spit it out, it was horrible. I can't believe they would serve that. I don't know how old that thing was, but they need better quality control. The only people I could see giving this place 5 stars on the food, are locals. Tahoe is behind when it comes to quality high end artisanal pastries. I have yet to find a decent coffee shop. Their sign boasts "Voted Best in Tahoe", but you'll see that almost every spot here has the same sign, from ice cream shops to bakeries to whatever else because there's literally nothing here. If you're from a big city, don't come here. Service was pleasant. No complaints.

The shop was empty & we got to chat with the staff, played chess, ate our sandwiches and drank our coffees. Pros: - lots of parking - lots of small vendor gems & plants - great food, drinks, & service Must get: - Whole Garden Sandwich w/ Turkey - Maui Wowie was my choice. It kind of felt like we were in Hawaii but there's snow outside the window.. haha - lemonade w/ matcha foam was good! (Doesn't compare to the Bay buttt for Tahoe? It's solid!)

First, this is a coffee and Kava lounge. I don't know much about Kava, so I can only speak to the coffee. They do also have some food, but I am not sure how that works since there was only a single employee when we visited. Maybe only certain hours? Maybe it just takes some time? Not sure, we skipped food on this visit. We ordered one of their signature matcha drinks and a cold brew. The single employee was friendly and doing the best she could, but it got quite busy and I could tell she was struggling to keep up. The prices at the register were $0.25-$0.75 higher than what was listed on the menu board. Always a bit annoying... The matcha was good, the foam texture is very cool, however the cup was more ice than beverage. The cold brew was fine, nothing special but still tasty. I liked the vibes a lot when I walked in here. It's filled with plants and natural light, but then I looked around a bit more and the space just felt messy. There was stuff everywhere, boxes laying on the ground, and generally just a lot of clutter in the space. Overall, I think there are better coffee spots in South Lake Tahoe. If you're looking for Kava, give this place a go, but for coffee I would steer you somewhere else.
