This used to be my go to spot whenever I visited the Tahoe area, but my recent experience really let me down. I ordered a "Back 2 Life" with sausage and paid the upgrade charge to add pastrami. I picked up my order and headed straight to the beach, only to discover once I opened it that I had been given roast beef instead of pastrami. Since I was already at the beach, it was too late to turn back, so I had to eat it as-is... and it was severely underwhelming. Mistakes happen, but what's worse is the complete lack of customer service. I emailed the company to give them a chance to make it right, but I never received a response. Our group of 6 stopped in at 10:15 and the line was out the door and rightfully so because the bagels and cream cheese are so so so good! Checked out Tahoe Bagel Company off of Kingsbury in Stateline and was impressed by the vibes and delicious bagels. I have also been to Tahoe Bagel's Reno location, which I thought was good, but this location is much larger and offers much more seating. It was also packed on our visit! I am a bagel snob. I find it hard to find a great bagel in this area. Tahoe Bagel has all of the classic flavors and is whipping up great cream cheese too. The prices are very reasonable, and they have everything from simple cream cheese, egg and cheese, to fancy lox bagels. I enjoyed a basic egg and cheese, and my brother enjoyed a loaded lox bagel. Everything was great. Bagels are done right, and the other ingredients are fresh. There is one other bagel joint in South Lake Tahoe that I think still edges out Tahoe Bagel, but this place is a close second. We almost made the mistake of driving to the other Tahoe Bagel Company location in South Lake Tahoe before realizing there was one right next to our hotel, so definitely double-check which location you're heading to! We're so glad we stopped in. The bagels were fresh, delicious, and had the perfect texture. They also have a great variety of breakfast sandwiches that can be made on your choice of bagel or other breads like sourdough, which was a nice option. The coffee was excellent too and paired perfectly with breakfast. One of the coolest parts of our visit was getting to watch an employee making the next day's bagels (see video). Seeing them being made fresh in-house made us appreciate them even more. The pictures and videos speak for themselves. Everything looked just as good as it tasted. I had the Goombah and added chicken cutlet, which was unexpectedly served warm. The Pesto kind of leaked through the bread and was slightly soggy after two hours when it was time to eat it, but still tasty. Likely would have been better if consumed immediately. A bunch of people got the Italian sub, which was large and delicious. It was crispy, delicious, and HOT. Oh my. Basically, a glorified caprese salad on a bagel. It was oily, messy, and wonderful. I got help ordering from Shannon, and she was a great help! The seating area is a tad limited for the lunch time rush I was here for. They have a couple couches in the middle that are nice and cozy, and a mix of tables that can fit 2 up to 6 people. It seems to have a good flow, but I wonder if there's a different or better way to accommodate more people to dine in. It seemed like most to half the people that came in got their orders to go, and had there been room to accommodate them, if they would have stayed. The quality, top notch with bagels being rolled by hand on shop and cooked to perfection with that nice bite and chew of a true NY style bagel.
