Unfriendly Haircuts. Been there a few times. The owner is nasty. No one greats you when you walk in unless you great them first. If you want to wait for a specific barber the owner (who can barely cut hair) tries to convince you repeatedly with B.S. to have someone else that is available. When you insist, he has an attitude. Hate his B.S. "script" that he and his employees give everyone even if their hair was not too long: "Oh, your hair is so long, when was the last time you cut it?" If my hair was short I wouldn't need a barber and its none of your business when I last cut it. Forget you. I'll go to one of the 3-4 barber shops in walking distance from him where they great you and cut hair without attitude or B.S. sales tactics. read more

Good haircut. I went there a few times. The caveat is the Fox TV on. The owner has swallowed the rightwing doctrine. If this would bother you, perhaps consider another shop. Otherwise, you will probably get a good haircut there. read more

These guys are great. After having an absolutely terrible experience with another local shop, a close friend recommended I go see Anthony over at River Road, so I did. I am happy to say that I received a phenomenal haircut. It was refreshing to be surrounded by professionals who weren't on their phones while on the job and who clearly take their craft seriously. Love this classic barbershop. My go to guy is Kazi who is an excellent barber. Takes his time to make sure your haircut is perfect. The price is only $20 so tip well! This area is being taken over by hipster male salons who want to charge you like its Beverly Hills because the place looks so "stylish" meanwhile the so called barbers are clueless. read more

Racist barber.. had a terrible experience cutting my hair recently here. My usual barber was not in the shop so I tried haircut with a barber here...first he doesn't know any styles, I showed him some pictures, he tried but he ruined my hair and I kept quiet because I didn't want to make him feel bad..as soon as I said the front hair seems smaller than what I wanted..he was like 'haircut is cheap in this country and even more cheaper in this barbershop, you can come here next time to fix it'.. yes I look brown but I was born and brought up here in the US..just because I look brown doesn't mean he has to refer 'country' here in this conversation....would he say the same to a blonde or white skin tone man/woman? I know other people make big issue of ruining their hair and passing such remarks..but I just smiled and got out of the shop..never ever go to this shop..such a shame to Fair Lawn that you operate such businesses which gives such racist vibes...I thought this was a nice community..never ever going to this shop again. read more

Anthony, the owner of River Road Barber Shop, reminds me of the good old days growing up in NY with our family barber. He combines the classic old time local neighborhood barbershop experience - first class warm and friendly service, fantastic cuts and shaves, very reasonable prices and always a welcoming smile. On top of all that, I received the most amazing shave I've ever experienced. Razor cut, hot towels treatment, facial rub and a precision cut. I walked out a new man. Best barbershop bar none in Bergen County, if not the whole state of NJ. Courteous, professional, and if you go there once, they remember your name and your haircut for your next visit. Got my first haircut here as a child, and have been coming ever since. The guys are amazing! They do a great job making both old and new customers feel welcome. Compared to what I have seen advertised online and in newspapers, River Road Barber Shop is a LITTLE more on the pricier side, but for the atmosphere and conversation during the hair cuts, it's worth it. I got a shave from them once, and while it was nice, I think I would prefer going somewhere else. read more

Been going here for about 6 months as I recently just moved into Fair Lawn, was never disappointed. Recently, I came in on a saturday and got a cut by the 4th chair, Vincent. The shop as a whole is great, but this man has no business cutting hair. He's a nice guy but he has no idea what he is doing. He butchered me up. My cut was completely crooked, he didn't clean up the edges, and I can tell he had no idea which machine to use. I ended up having to go another barber shop after and get it corrected. took my boys there for hair cuts this weekend. loved the atmosphere of the place, very friendly staff, there were a lot of people waiting but the line goes really quickly! So glad to have found this place! The boys loved how their hair turned out! They were so sweet with my 3 year old daughter who I brought for the wait.
