The decor of the place is pretty enticing. The menu is ambitious to have the right kind of options. The weak point was quality of service, how long it took main courses to come out, and price which did not match the quality of the experience. The server was polite and courteous, but never offered to refill our drinks. I understand that this is not fast food, but a dinner nearing two hours seems excessive. Most of the delay was waiting for the main courses to come out. The food is very nice, but overall, and I don't mind paying $36 for a salmon and $10 for an arnold palmer, but when I do, I really want the entire experience to be cohesive. I think all of it is fixable, possibly a staffing issue where kitchen cannot keep up, and possibly a similar challenge for the wait staff? read more

We made another trip to the Rivers Edge restaurant because our experience has been so great! Ambiance still the same very classy yet cozy cabin like feel with flare. This time we switched up our entrees. I got their pork chop, oh my goodness let me tell you a great portion of meat. It was seasoned to perfection with this delicious demi glacé. They paired it very nicely with steamed green beans and these delicious crispy potatoes. I added a bowl of their Mac and cheese as a side because I'm quite obsessed with it. It didn't disappoint, still creamy, cheesy, and piping hot! My dad got their hamburger, medium well. It was cooked to what he had asked, which was appreciated. It was on this buttery bun and typical burger veggies accompanied like lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and pickles. It originally comes with fries but we exchanged them to have a side of Mac and cheese. So delicious! Of course the staff was so nice and sweet. We ended the meal sweet with there chocolate cake pair with ice cream. It was our cherry on top. Definitely a spot to check out. Excellent food! We had a superb Cuban sandwich and a delicious burger with THE. BEST. FRIES. we've ever eaten! The Buffalo wings were saucy with a perfect amount of crunch. Staff were very friendly and the olives in my Dirty Martini were stuffed with blue cheese- the best way to have them! The tunes were great and the place is beautiful inside, as well! What a great experience - and a surprise. I didn't really have any expectations when we decided to pop in here on our last visit when visiting some friends who live in the area. That said, we left this experience completely wowed and eager to come back the next time we visit. The service was top notch, the outdoor seating is pet friendly, and the food was delicious. Really, everything about the experience was exceptional. Some of the best French fries I have ever had... and the lobster roll was also perfect (we used to live in Boston and I have had my fair share of lobster rolls over the years, and this one was on point - and fairly priced too). My friend and I visited on a Thursday around 2:30 pm for a late lunch before a concert at Bethel Woods. The vibe here is nice, with fresh flowers on each table and really nice woodwork. There is also outdoor seating. There is only one bathroom for both males and females. The menu was super small with only about 7 entrees, some apps and a kids menu. The menu that is online is not the menu you get at the restaurant, so this needs to be updated. I ordered a $19 steak sandwich (not worth it). It was a very thin, fried in some kind of batter piece of steak with cheese on a hoagie roll with tiny cut up pepperoncini's, cucumber dill sauce and arugula. It wasn't very good at all. To me, the flavors just didn't mesh well together. I had also ordered truffle fries instead of plain fries that came with the sandwich, but I still got plain fries (she took the extra charge off). Service overall was mediocre at best, she definitely didn't seem happy to be there and had a very "blah" personality. I don't think I saw her smile one time. We waited 20 minutes for our two sodas after ordering them. On a positive note, my friend ordered the chicken fingers and French fries from the kids menu and said it was pretty good. Wanted to like this place but too many negatives. Staff was very nice but lobster roll was tiny and on a stale roll. Ricotta cheesecake clearly was pulled from freezer and microwaved as it was part warm, part frozen. Sad really. We were given a bottle of warm water the waitress took our drink order and the bartender brought our drinks. 10 minutes later the waitress had not returned to take our food order and the bartender came over and took our order. Very simple, burger and pulled pork sandwiches. 25 minutes later still no food and a couple with a child came in and were served french fries immediately. We stayed here this past weekend and the room was great. Just newly renovated and clean. Got to the restaurant 8-8:30 pm Saturday nt and the place was packed. The waitress told us how packed and busy they were all day due to the holiday weekend. To me that's a good sign. Had a few minutes to wait, went to the bar and had a delicious cocktail. We get to our table and ordered burgers, (beef from local farm) and they were fantastic w the side of homemade French fries. Cooked perfectly and delicious flavor. This is Restaurant owned by a a fellow hungarian couple. The food is not bad, but not as tasteful as usually the Hungarian foods are, however better than a sport bar. I have held a party here years ago, and the food I've ordered here almost the half of it wasn't served but they took the money for all. Beside the location is great right at the NY/ PA border at the edge of the Delaware River. I could recommend if you want to eat something different that a local bar offers or you don't know much about Hungarian food. But I don't recommend to held any party here. Anyway, today I was here and I had a good time, I was eating outside (facing to the road /parking lot) and the new waitresses are really nice. River's Edge is better than most establishments that you will find in the area, but there is still quite a bit of room for improvement. We came here on Friday evening, our last night in the Poconos, for a goodbye-hurrah meal. The particular bridge next to the restaurant's corner is one of the best views of the river--staggeringly beautiful. The inside looks like it's been polished up a bit and while it doesn't have much in the way of personality or meaningful aesthetics, it's nice enough. There's a decent drink menu although we weren't impressed with their execution of an old-fashioned. Oysters were OK, and one of us likes the anchovies. For our main meals, one of us got the eggplant parm, and something was just really off in the sauce; it was super acidic and took away from the overall bite with the cheese, etc. The cold noodles dish was fine--suuuuper basic/typical that any home cook could make in 5 minutes--but it was dry and needed more salt so we had to ask for some soy sauce. Our daughter's schnitzel needed seasoning. The steak her grandfather ordered was completely overcooked. So, overall, no dish wow-ed and each dish had its own issue, but nothing was capital b-Bad, so do with that what you will. Our server was super eager, friendly, and motivated, but prices here are high for the area, so if you're giving that NYC financial vibe, then you should be delivering that NYC quality food. That said, we did have a decent time here and we know that it's new, so hopefully they'll improve with time and we wish the all the best until next summer. A couple of us had been to the place when they first opened up and found the experience for be more of a 4 star one, but even our six year old said that everything was better the first time, so not sure what's happened. Was in town for a couple days on a short vacation and stopped by Friday night for dinner. Started with the salt and pepper shrimp. Delicious!! Hubby had the ceviche which was also delicious. Even though there was some kind of mix up with our appetizer the server kindly exchanged it for the correct one even though I was happy to accept the incorrect order. All the staff were wonderful, warm and friendly. The main course was delicious too pork chop, thickest I personally have ever seen, with the white sweet potato and squash. Was so full and unable to finish the entree but of course had to leave room for dessert. Server recommended the cheesecake with fruit compote. Was so yummy! Loved the ambiance of the place. Decor was great, reminded me a little of Brooklyn. Would definitely visit again. Hopefully another short break will pull me in the direction of the state and I can swing by and try some of the other tasty looking food on the menu. Thank you to the chef, servers and the bartender! The food is very tasty. My husband had the chicken schnitzel with buttermilk and it was amazing! The staff is polite and attentive but not very conversational and seem to be there to just do a job (which is fine). It's a good noise level that allows conversation and not too busy the times we've been there. Outdoor seating is available but can get noisy with the bikers driving by. This place is amazing! The food is incredible. Hands down the best pork chop I've ever had. For lunch today I got the lobster roll which was honestly mind blowing. Definitely go for the hand cut fries. The share plates are fantastic, the fried zucchini is a highlight. And of course the oysters are choice. The cocktail menu is really well curated with an array of delicious,interesting and just plain fun options. I enjoyed the Endless Summer (Mezcal base) and the Moko Tiki (Rum of course.) The staff is very cool, and everyone has a distinctive vibe and style. They will make you feel like you're part of the fam. All this in a really eclectically designed space that's bright and comfortable. The managers Priscilla and Curtis make this place special. Couldn't recommend Rivers Edge more. I was looking forward to eating here but left a bit disappointed. Service was the main issue. One of our meals came after the rest of us were almost finish. Clearly there was a mistake, either the order wasn't put in or the kitchen missed it, but even though we asked about it twice and after it was ridiculously delayed it arrived without so much as an apology, much less saying that dish was comped. Our group's other dishes were fine, but not great (particularly the salads). It's a nice atmosphere and I'd try them again when in the area, but was disappointed. read more
