We had great manhattan cocktails to start, the gem salad with blue cheese and thin bacon chips, beef tenderloin and black cod with big pieces of mushroom and wild rice. When we arrived at the gated Lake Moraine road, we were yelled at by the Parks Canada gate attendant which left us shaken, but Rosie turned our day completely around! We were welcomed warmly and given a tour of the lodge. We were also asked if we needed help with our luggage. We asked if they were allowing canoeing, and she hooked it up for us right then even though we were the first of the season. Our room was stunning and they left a really nice welcome gift for us, a chocolate bar and two Moraine Lake Lodge water bottles (metal, super nice!). We loved our little fireplace and we could not believe the view from our room. I took a bath and I really liked how they give you a little bath cube from L'Occitane. Their bath products smell great! When I got out of the tub my fiancé came in carrying a bottle of champagne! He said the front desk staff was super nice in helping him set up the surprise. We had a great time sipping champagne and sitting on our porch. For dinner we ate in the dining room, and the service was very slow... I made eye contact with our server a couple of times to signal we were finished but she still took a long time to come to our table. We were there for more than two hours. The food was good though, just be aware that dinner is an occasion. We walked by the lake after dinner and it was great because there was no one there. The next morning, we got up super early but not early enough to avoid the tour buses. I think they come in at 4 a.m. and descend on the rockpile. That's one thing about staying here that's not ideal. You're sharing the lake, the cafe, and the gift shop with lots of tourists throughout the day. We could not even grab anything from the cafe because the line of tourists at 8 a.m. was so long. The complimentary breakfast was my favorite meal here but you do need a reservation. We asked the receptionist if we could get sandwiches to go ordered even though we missed the deadline, but she said no. It was a bummer- so definitely book reservations and ask for sandwiches in advance if you're not going to be there between 12:30-2 p.m. Our breakfast service was much better! They give you a pastry and fruit cups. It was the BEST PASTRY EVER. It was maple and we loved it; the server was kind enough to bring us another helping without us even asking. We both got a breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and homestyle fries. Overall, we both had a great time but we definitely enjoyed the privacy of our balcony the most. If we had more days here we would have opted to sign up the guided hikes. There's not many other things to do here besides hike, read and relax with no pool, spa or fitness center but I do think when you consider having access to lake moraine, a complimentary breakfast and canoe ride, the price feels not as bad.

The cabin had ample room for all of us with a queen sized bed in the bedroom with delightfully European duvets and comfortabel but firm matress. The boys slept on the fold down futon in the living room. Kitchenette was well stocked with all the amenities except for bar sized fridge was a little disappointing. Bathroom had a shower with hot hot water! And everything was clean and well kept and wonderfully manicured and landscaped. A fairytale camping spot with all the luxuries of a hotel. The huge firepit was a hit with the boys and there was even a barbeque for grilling outside. The dogs were more than thrilled to wander the woods and meadows without a care. Hubert and Sonja the owners were a pleasure and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Our only regret was that we didn't take the oportunity to book a dinner at the main lodge to try the food. Just outside of Golden a five minute drive so access to amenities is easy. We will definitely return here next summer.

We opted for the sunshine patio along with a mix of in-house guests and locals. Nancy, the hostess, was exemplary with her quick and very cheerful efficiency as the only front-of-the-house magician ensuring everyone was looked after (and warned if they'd have to wait a smidging due to so many recent arrivals). Along with her kitchen brigade they fed everyone quickly and with a smile. I had the Popeye Benny $10.50 which was 2 eggs on whole wheat bagel with pan fries. Hollandaise may have been authentic, or in the least from a good quality package brand. However, we all found the pan fries to be too small, too fried and too greasy. Our two sons enjoyed double eggs and french toast $8.50 per person, and hubby had Huevos $11.50 which he really enjoyed. You order at the counter and help yourself to teas etc then Nancy delivers your meal to your table. Quick, efficient and cheerful process thanks again to Nancy's great attitude. We wouldn't hesitate for a moment to return to Bugaboo Cafe in the Kicking Horse River Lodge.

Guess this will be my chance to tell you all about a great find. Love that you can make reservations either through their website, or on numerous online booking forums, but only their website gives you exact details of the beds in each of the 5 bedrooms. Bonus: for each person staying there is a free aquatic centre pass for pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, waterslide and climbing wall. We have always been too busy taking in everything else but really need to remember about this next time. When you arrive, park around back in the private lot off the alley. Go inside and give Poppi a call so she can give you the tour. Poppi is friendly and full of knowledge about the area. As she remembered us from the last time we visited, she made sure to tell us about all the new restaurants that had opened and advise where to find them all too. After a quick tour to our room and making sure we had everything she left us to settle in with one last "use the phone to call me if you need anything". Poppi stays on the upper level of the house but does her best to stay out of the way of her guests but right there is you ever have an issue. We stayed in the Taj Mahal room, which has a double bed with a single bunk on top, perfect size for the 3 of us. Beds are comfortable, bath and hand towels provide for every person in the room, extremely clean and well maintained. All the bedrooms and shared bathroom are on the second floor. Bathroom is clean and also has the washer dryer set up in there - cant remember if you can do a load of personal laundry or not but think so. Shower is fantastic for a guesthouse with hot water coming out pretty quickly. On the same floor is a cute little balcony with table and chairs that you can sit at and enjoy the sunshine. Downstairs is a large kitchen and second bathroom with shower, as well as a sitting room and games room. There are board games and a foozeball table you can use. TV is set up in the corner and a desktop computer for use of guests. As we were there the day before the long weekend, there were only 2 other rooms occupied but didn't really run into anyone. Previously when we stayed the whole house was full but was easy to get into the bathrooms and use the kitchen. Whenever I am in the area, this is where I will stay. Also really love that the cost is per room not per person - lovely detail for the price conscious.

Rooms are private while the kitchen, living space, and games room are all shared. The location is perfect - close to everything, service is excellent, and all your needs will be met. When we arrived, we were greeted with a massive smile. My friend and I were travelling through Revelstoke for one night, on our way to Golden. After seeing the place and staying for the evening, I could definitely see myself going back for a longer-term stay. While the place was perfect for a one-night stop over in Revi, Poppi's Guesthouse would be the perfect place to stay if your in Revelstoke for a week, or even a full season! Check out Poppi's Guesthouse for short term, or long term accommodation in Revelstoke, and you will not be disappointed!
