It's a decent local gun store with a fair selection of handguns. They don't always have the best…read moreprice for the area, but they're not the most expensive either. As the name suggests, the store tries to attract female customers. To this end they seem to concentrate on personal defense handguns and ammo. If you're new and not entirely comfortable with carrying full size guns shooting military calibers and up, the store has a lot of small pocket pistols in the recently popular and softer .380 ACP, in various colors. Naturally they also have a good selection of defense ammo in stock for that caliber. The owner has a cute and active orange tabby tomcat (named Ruger, appropriately) that loves to roam the store, jump onto the top shelves, and sneak into the glass display cases any chance he gets. I might be biased because I love cats, I find it entertaining.

The really surprising thing about this great service is that it began online with a purchase via their website, but since Kempf is a real store with real people who care about their customers - even first time customers from out-of-state like me, my experience was far better than I've ever had with bigger online "virtual" merchants. In addition to great help in selecting the items I needed, I was impressed with the packing, shipping, delivery time half-way across the country, and price. I'd drop by the store to say thanks, but that would take at least two long days of driving! However, I do expect to be a return customer even if I don't have the opportunity to meet the great folks at Kempf Gun Shop in person.

Some nice tactical jackets, but not a wide selection. There was a lot less here than we had seen in the past. We bought some awesome backpacks with metal frames a couple years ago. They claimed for it to have "no legible serial number" despite it having a four digit serial number on the frame. I mentioned that the ATF doesn't necessarily require serials from guns made before 1968. However they claimed a corporate policy is what prevented the sale to go through. Now I have to spend an additional 200$ for shipping and transfer fees to get it back. I won't be transferring a gun here again, I'll rather do it at Midwest on grape road where I know I won't have problems. I will come back to the store to use their range until Midwest range opens theirs up. Then I'll leave and not come back here except if there are great sales going on. Disappointing.

Finally, we treated ourselves and the kids and rented a paddleboard for the day to play with in Lake Michigan. Again, no charge for delivery and pick up from the beach. Pain free fun!!!
