(5 agonizing years mind you) EXTREAMLY rude front desk personnel, the staff has no communication within the facility with one another or with the parents. They tell you one thing and then gaslight you telling you entirely different things. They discriminate against patients that have Medicare making them wait many HOURS past appointment times to accommodate private pay insurances. Even if your appointment time is hours before said other insurances. I have spoken with the owner on many different occasions, and he also doesn't seem to care about the patients they see and only cared about making money. His only concern was getting a complaint filed against them from the state. AVOID THIS PLACE!! read more

Worst experience I've ever had. I made an appointment for my 2 year old to get an exam and updated vaccines and they wouldn't see him because I had taken my daughter to a competing pediatrician even though they have been his primary dr since birth. Very childish behavior putting feelings before children's care needs. The Doctor wouldn't even come out and talk to me once I got there and I found out they had removed my appointment the morning before without even calling me to explain or discuss the situation. Very disappointed I would not recommend them to anyone in need of care for your child. read more

Omg, called 27 time after the recorded time of them having lunch from 11:45 - 12:45. Mind you I also called at 11:40 but it went to call center or answering service. I figured ok they left early .... no biggie I'll call after lunch. I called at 12:45 the time it said they are back from lunch, and nothing. Why have a message if you don't follow it. When they finally came back from lunch and turned the phones back on you can speak with anyone. It send you to a voice-mail... Why? I just had a simple question. read more

Staff here is a serious issue. Was told this past Friday medication was called in the pharmacy hadn't received it and still hasn't. Called the office Monday morning and left a message it is now Wednesday evening and still no call back. Called Monday and Tuesday asking to have records sent to another Doctor and left voicemails still no call back. Basically paid a copay of $40 for nothing. If you have private health insurance find someone else. Im out the copay and it was a waste of time read more

Extremely rude and inconsiderate doctor (Carreon)/receptionist with zero tolerance for families in need of assistance. Single mother, here, and was refused to see my children all because of a "no-show" policy, when in reality it was simply a misunderstanding with the time of the appointment. New to New Braunfels and don't have much help. I went through so much to get off from my work, lost time that I could be making money for my kids for the holidays, and they had absolutely no consideration for my efforts to get my children seen. Was really happy and looked forward to having them as their PCP, especially since they're so close to where we live, but now the way this doctor operates, it's causing more of an inconvenience in my life. Look elsewhere if you want someone who will genuinely care for your family. read more

Dr. Carreon is more than an extremely Educated Doctor. She listens to concerns, gives advise and is a mother to a wonderful, standup son herself. They're expanding so there will be more room and will be a "sick room". My baby loves Dr. Carreon and so do I. read more

Just noticed that most of these "5 star reviews" were all written on the same day... Unfortunately we've had to change pediatricians in November. The office staff are some of the most incompetent people I've seen. We have a newborn daughter that needed a 72 hour appt scheduled after discharge and the staff told my husband against hospital advice that we needed to wait at least a week before coming in because insurance wouldn't cover a newborn... ?!?! What?! When we told the hospital, their response was that they don't recommend River Valley to families. We've often waited over an 1-2 hours to see the Dr or Practioner with our oldest. We've also had issues with the process of billing our insurance. read more

I knew the healthcare system in Texas was seriously flawed but to deny a child a covid test because they have been been seen there before is odd. I mean why? I've had to take my daughter back multiple times for a congestion and cough that started when she was exposed to covid. She is allergic to amoxicillin so was out an an antibiotic for 4 days. The fever came back took her back in and now we are in another antibiotic because congestion so back and really bad. Nothing so working. So now she started having diarrhea from the medication. I called and they gave me the number to call the on call doctor. Are you kidding me first of all? So I left a vm over 2 hours later no call. I do not recommend this place. The staff is so unhelpful and for a pediatric office, uncaring. I'll be going elsewhere. I no longer trust them in caring for my children. read more

Not impressed at all with this practice. Was referred here by a local moms group and the front staff is less than pleasant and welcoming and the doctor blew off my concerns about my kids tonsils issues. I ended up self Referring to and ENT and he was astounded that a pediatrician didn't refer and didn't see an issue with their tonsils which I could see were touching each other and blocking my daughters airway at night. Additionally , she rushed through the visit and the office was very full of sick kids. I would recommend they have an area for sick and well kids like most offices do read more

If you care about your child do not take them here. Not only did we wait an hour after our scheduled appointment time but I had brought my child two other times throughout the same week. My child was sent home from school for fevers over 101 River Vallies nurse practitioner continued to blow it off and tell me it was allergies and drainage. Finally I told them I wanted labs done. I was sent somewhere else for labs and was told to wait a week for results. Saturday my child had a fever of 103.8 so I took him to Resolute because River Valley wouldn't see him until Monday. Turns out he had pneumonia. (THANK GOD FOR RESOLUTE) Here it is almost three weeks later and I still haven't gotten a call about the labs. River Valley has been no help in the care of my child please reconsider your child's pediatrician yeah it's a new nice facility but the nursing staff here are very careless and when I kept going back they made it seem like I didn't know my child, made us feel like we were a burden since we had went 3 times in the same week. For goodness sake listen to the lungs with the stethoscope on bare skin not over a jacket plus a shirt and maybe you can hear the lungs correctly. read more

My family just moved to New Braunfels from Bastrop, and we visited this office for the first time today as a new patient (15 month well child check) per a recommendation from a family member. Given today's concerns over COVID-19, I was apprehensive about keeping our appt but felt it was important now more than ever to make sure my daughter stayed on her vaccination schedule. I didn't want to spend more time than necessary in public, so we arrived half an hour before our appt so that I had sufficient time to fill out our new patient paperwork. I was done by 8:45 (we had a 9:00 appt), and there was only one other child waiting. At 9:25, after an hour of waiting, we were called back and seen by a nurse practitioner who spent a whopping 3 minutes with us. She blew through the notes - that I printed from my last Pedi's office - asked zero questions about the specialist appointments following my daughter's birth, didn't talk with me at all about her growth, didn't provide any percentile updates, and when I told her I was worried she hadn't truly started walking yet she blew me off and said "put her on the floor more". She just rattled off milestone questions and verified the information I filled out & went on her way. My new veterinarian in town took more time to get to know my dog than she took to get to know me and my child, so we will obviously not be returning. read more

Avoid this place and do yourself a favor. We took our 4 year old here for a new patient visit today, 7/12/18. We walked in, and it was a mad house, filled with kids waiting to be seen. There had been a mom there waiting for an hour who was ahead of us. The first 10 minutes we were waiting, a mom and her toddler came in and told the recpetionist she had a bad lice infestation..she waited there at the front window for a least a couple minutes until they slid the glass door to speak to her. So no telling consiering how contageous that is the ramifications to others in the waiting area... There is one doctor there, its a high medicaid office which means it also has TONS of patient traffic. Clearly, it was very obvious, the office is overwhelmed with patients, overbooking their schedule, and running at least an hour behind to see you. Everyone's time is valuable and the blaintent disrepest for their patients is unexecptable. Imagine the poor level of quality care, rushing to get through their patient load, not spending indivdual time with each one, and poor customer service definielt reflects on their capacity to give an acceptable level of healthcare. We walked out after I let the recpetionist know the wait was unexceptable. I asked her if it was this crazy all the time and she said, "yeah..." We will be finding another pediatrician for our daughter. read more
