Walkway: when Scott put in the forms, it was designed with a curve, which I didn't expect. Naturally he could redesign if needed. But, with just a little tweak, I fell in love with it! He also made sure it was pitched properly so any water will run to the driveway. Driveway: I had a flooding issue because the cracked slabs sunk a bit. He removed them without damaging the remaining slabs. The new ones were poured & pitched perfectly. No flooding! Also, when my cat ran through the wet concrete & made deep impressions they were able to fix it without an issue. Price was very reasonable & the work is great. Highly recommend! His crewman Jose is a perfectionist/artiste.

We initially got 4 estimates and JB was near the top but their warranty and the process of their work far exceeded the others. The second patio we put in (new house) settled after a year and water was pooling so Brent came over and looked at it and immediately had his crew fixed the issue which required 2 days worth of work. They were already at the house installing a new front entry as well. So a 3 day project at my house kept them there for 5 days. The crews have always been professional and very clean. In something like a patio and a front entry, you will always get what you pay for. You can always find a local landscape company to install bricks but you can't complain when things shift and pop out after 2-3 years and then you can't find them again to fix the issue. This company has been around for years!

We didn't have to worry about a thing; if an issue came up (as is normal with this scope of work), it was handled right away. Communication was top notch and we couldn't love the final result more! Because of that, we didn't think twice about contracting them when we wanted our garage painted, the floor epoxied, and a cabinet installed in our dining room. If this had been our first experience, it would have been our last. Frankly, we wouldn't even had made it past the quoting process. Communication was terrible and it took far too long (especially compared to the first project that was MUCH more involved). Erik was our carpenter for the kitchen remodel and is not only top notch at his craft, but is such a genuinely nice person that we requested him for this project. Thank goodness because he saved the day numerous times! He also communicated our issues to Jeff, who jumped right on to fixing whatever he could and trying to make everything right. Everything turned out beautifully (thank you, Erik), but if it hadn't been for the two of them and our previous positive encounter, this would be a two star review.

Amy was our sells rep and helped us through the process and selection of all the materials and choices. Never felt any pressure from her at all. Erick was the lead and did most of the remodeling. His skills were outstanding and he takes pride in his work and customer satisfaction. We added a built in cabinet which opened in the master bedroom and bumped into unused space in a wall in the bathroom. We were quoted a reasonable price and Erik custom built, stained, and installed the unit on site. His skills as a carpenter really shows and my wife is ecstatic with the removable shelves and the new storage space. Thanks to his skills the bathroom came out perfectly. Schafer Brothers are not cheap but the quality of both the work and the processes make the cost worthwhile. We now have a bathroom for my son that will last, that he loves, and my wife has the extra storage space she has been wanting.

I'm visiting Illinois from California, my mothers handyman thought she needed a new roof and…read morerecommended his buddy's. She asked me to help her get some other estimates because the one she received was extremely high. She had an advertisement card from DGB roofing construction Inc. which was local to Crystal Lake and to me a perk. So I called and made an appointment and they were very communicative. Because my mother's home is very difficult to locate they called me a couple times to find us and they were even able to come a day earlier which was great for me having come from out of state and other obligations I needed to manage. Now though, we were expecting to get an estimate my mother was so relieved and felt blessed by the adjuster named Nabil. He was so very honest, thoughtful and helpful and with all the other worries I have about an elderly parent; this gave me peace at heart. He was up on the roof with his equipment & I was also looking at the roof thinking it was looking pretty good. But while Nabil was doing his inspection from the roof and I was on the ground he explained how well the valleys were built, there were top notch vents and the flanges around the chimney stack were also very good quality. He told me it was a 30 year shingle and had probably had been put in about 15 years ago. I am so very grateful that there are still contractors out there with some ethics. Because it would be very, very easy to take advantage of an 80-year-old woman in this day and age. As the other company would have done and the second contractor I had contacted who wasn't going to come and look at the roof he was going to do it via satellite. No thanks! These are the reasons I am giving this company such a high rating even though we did not schedule a roofing project. If you think you need a new roof, I would recommend contacting DGB roofing and construction Inc. and especially to ask for Nabil. The inspection was free as well for my mother. Accidents happened early on resulting with stoop broken off in 2 large pieces. Brick exterior was…read morescraped, chipped and splashed with wet concrete. Windows were also splashed with conrete. Driveway area not cleared and prepped with adequate gravel base and wood framing. Slab is too high. As a result of poor quality work melted snow and rain water runs onto the garage floor and toward the basement windows. Also vinyl siding is cemented in place as a result. Excess concrete was poured on the lawn. There was no clean up afterward. They left trash from their lunch on the window sills and yard area. An 8 inch hardwood board disappeared from the back yard when they finished. Rene agreed to repair the tire marks in the lawn, but he did not honor this agreement. Very disappointing experience.

Bill is a rarity today…read more Over the past several years I've been dealing with a revolving door at sub par contractors that seemed too busy to help with smaller jobs or would cut corners to get the job done quickly leaving me disappointed. Bill with B&G always takes the time to hear me out and put together a plan that exceeds expectations. I can tell he takes pride in his craft and provides clear, honest communication from start to finish. His pricing is fair and well worth it when paired with the professionalism he provides. I can't recommend Bill with B&G Remodeling enough and plan on using their services regularly going forward.

I do not recommend working with Bill and B&G Remodeling. Google reviews do not reflect my…read moreexperience, however, Yelp and Angie's (List) will reflect similar situations. My husband and I hired B&G Remodeling to complete multiple projects on our main floor. The project included multiple tasks but focused on moving an electrical outlet, patching drywall, installing doors and trim, as well as adding a backsplash in the kitchen. The electrical and drywall turned out fine. The doors and trim look ok, there are multiple areas where gaps are excessively filled in with calk to cover misscuts. Additionally, when Bill first provided a quote he said the team would calk and fill all the nails holes across the doors and trim but by the end of the project Bill refused to fill them stating that is the job of a painter. The entire process of the kitchen backsplash was a mess. By the end of the second day of work half the backsplash had been completed. Tiles looked like they were going to fall off the wall. Tile spacing was extremely inconsistent, some were so close there was no room for grout while other areas had gaps that were very large. Tiles were installed cracked or chipped. Bill was informed the results were unacceptable and needed to be corrected. Bill decided to remove the worst tiles from the backsplash and try to re-lay new tiles to correct the issues, that did not work. Bill assured us multiple times after this he would be able to fix it all and provide a professional finished product. We allowed him to continue the work under the understanding that it would be a good finished product. At the end of the last day of work once we paid Bill in full, we were then forced to clean our home for hours because of the state they left our home. Upon cleaning up the mess that was left in our kitchen and fully inspecting the work, we canceled the final check. My husband and I were absolutely shocked by how terrible the final product of the backsplash turned out. We contacted Bill and informed him, he did return to hear us out. Bill's comments on his own work when he arrived was "It was not THAT bad and he had seen worse". Bill then brought up to us that his company had all rights to redo the work, he again stated he could provide a professional finished product. Over the course of getting the backsplash re-installed (completely ripping down the first attempt including drywall) my husband and I regularly had to check the team's work and ensure they were doing a good job, essentially having to babysit our contractor. The backsplash was completed but there are still areas that don't look like a professional did them. At this point we were paying him to leave our home and to not have to deal with him further. At multiple points through the project Bill told me (a woman) how lucky I was that he was not yelling at me or further fighting me when I raised concerns on different issues. At one point when I commented on issues Bill told me to have more leniency and be aware the team could not install everything perfectly. When my husband commented on the same issues Bill told him he would get them corrected immediately. By the time the crew had come back to rip down and re-install the backsplash I did not feel comfortable being alone with Bill and my husband needed to stay home from work. Additionally, we were provided a quote and by the end of the project Bill provided a bill that was nearly $3K over the number we originally agreed on. Not once was a change order brought to us and we never sat down to agree on such a price discrepancy. Bill brought up the fact that he had run into some speed bumps moving an electrical outlet, and took a simple comment of " Do what you need to do" as an all access pass to charge whatever he wanted to proceed. This and many more reasons are why we would not recommend working with this company. In the review photos the all white tiles are the ultimate final backsplash product.
