We've used this company for 3 different projects and 2 different houses and we always get compliments about how great everything looks. I've referred others to them as well. We initially got 4 estimates and JB was near the top but their warranty and the process of their work far exceeded the others. The second patio we put in (new house) settled after a year and water was pooling so Brent came over and looked at it and immediately had his crew fixed the issue which required 2 days worth of work. They were already at the house installing a new front entry as well. So a 3 day project at my house kept them there for 5 days. The crews have always been professional and very clean. In something like a patio and a front entry, you will always get what you pay for. You can always find a local landscape company to install bricks but you can't complain when things shift and pop out after 2-3 years and then you can't find them again to fix the issue. This is the hardscape remnants of our private garden, only 4-1/2 years after Martin John Landscaping (Libertyville, IL.) and his referred brother in law, JB Brickworks (Libertyville, IL.), did our landscaping/Hardscaping. We can't allow our grandchildren in our garden because of the danger of the heavy pots and statues surrounding this falling on them and crushing them. I want to post this and advise people not to use them. Based on our experience, we were ripped off after we spent six figures on this work. Other hardscaping in Lake Forest, Illinois, has lasted for decades. Terrible, shoddy, unreliable-all words that come to mind when I think of these two companies. Please avoid at all costs. We've had really good luck with this company. They installed our brick patio and our lamp post about 15 years ago and they have held up great. I recently had them come out to clean and maintain several items. I was a little hesitant because it's not cheap but it was worth every penny. I would not hesitate use them again. read more

Aug 26, 2016 This is in response to Brent's (JB Brickwork's owner) recent rebuttal to my April 8 post and August 24 update. Whether or not the work JB Brickworks does is the best around, judging by our experience and the number of 1 star reviews in Yelp, I'd suggest Brent address the customer service/support issues evidenced by the negative reviews. SInce you took us on a stroll down memory lane, I was reminded that your quote was quite high to address the settling of the original paver installation. We subsequently found a much more reasonable vendor who did the job for about half of what we would have paid JB Brickworks. Furthermore, the vendor was flexible, easy to reach, addressed the minor issues we had quickly and to our satisfaction. I'm glad to see that the owner of the company is now taking an interest in customer feedback and wish JB Brickworks nothing but the best going forward, but we'll stick with the company we had the good fortune to find earlier this year. read more

If you are looking for service after the installation, JB Brickworks is NOT your best choice. We had JB install a patio and walkway over 10 years ago. We now need some maintenance. Left several messages, finally after over 30 days Sam came out to gather information for an estimate. After yet another 45 days no estimate. Called and asked to speak with Gina or Sam "They're on the phone but will call you back". No call. I'll never refer another client to them. read more

JB Brickworks created our amazing outdoor patio as well as as our indoor fireplace. I loved working with Brent and Gina. Gina came up with several design options and as we talked, the plan came together beautifully. The patio is now nearly 7 years old and truly does not age. It is a classic design and JB Brickworks workmanship has stood the test of time. We will be enjoying our patio for years to come. Our indoor fireplace resurfacing was done about three years ago and what was once an eyesore is now the focal point of our home. I would highly recommend JB Brickworks to anyone. read more

We had a great experience with Gina and Brent. The work on our large back patio is beautiful. They blended the new patio with the existing brickwork and came up with a beautiful design. We had a slight issue with water pooling in the center of the patio after very heavy rain. They came out and actually redid a significant portion to improve the drainage. We now have no problems. The back patio and front walk are two of the nicest area of our entire home. They also coordinated with the landscape company and we did not have to manage any part of the project - they took care of it all. I highly recommend these guys. read more

JB Brickworks successfully repaired our large pool deck which had been installed by a paver company that is no longer in business. We were impressed with JB Brickworks' ability to identify the problem of the collapsing deck. The problem areas were structurally fortified, and the pavers were relaid in the proper manner. We were very pleased with the short time frame in which the work was completed. Our pool deck now looks great! We highly recommend JB Brickworks for your paver needs. read more

Working with this group started off great, Gina the designer/owner was very good and thorough. Things fell apart when it came to the execution. In short, we had a very large paver/bluestone patio done by this group and after significant water issues (incorrect grading resulted in water flooding our basement), and a huge amount of hounding, they finally fixed the issue. 40% of the patio pavers had to be re-layed. Then, within 6 mos, most of the joint sand from the repair had washed out. So 2 years later, we've had to hire another firm to fix the sand, plus repair one of the bluestone steps that completely fell off and half of the other bluestone pieces that started to come up in that same timeframe. Brent, the owner, was the worst customer service experience I've ever had to endure. His attitude was extremely unprofessional and after he cashed our check, he showed little to no regard for the poor job his company did. read more

Update - Had a problem with our gas starter for our fire pit not working after the winter. They sent over someone who took care of it within a few days. Wow. I can't say enough for the outstanding job that JB Brickworks did on our home. I had a concept for a front porch on our home. The project, because of Park Ridge's well known and CRAZY and unreasonable rules and regulations, was held back for 3 years. JB stayed with us and offered support the whole way through the process. JB is owned and run by a very nice couple, Gina and Brent. Gina being the designing force behind it and her husband, Bret, overseeing the construction. Like I said, I had the design concept but Gina took it to a new level. People stop and compliment us all the time on how beautiful our front porch looks and how it took an ordinary house and make it extraordinary. They are cost competitive too. We received a quote from a well known remodeling company and their quote was twice as expensive and not with the extra eye popping touches as JB had suggested. The construction process went exactly as scheduled. This is a great team and I would definitely recommend this company as they will add so much value to your home. You will receive big "wow" factor in design, execution and customer service. read more
