I am here currently for the indoor pool. I was surprise that this place is not packed on a Saturday afternoon. Plenty of parking spaces. The pool is very kids friendly. There is a hot tub in the center of the indoor pool where adults can just chills, with full view of the kids swimming as long as the kids old enough and can swim. There is an outdoor pool which is a small walk from the indoor pool. There plenty of lifeguards here today. This facility looks clean today. The staff is nice. There is also an indoor kids' place area called the RiverChase rainforest. There is a child watch room here too for parents who want to exercise. There is an indoor walking lap area and I saw some exercise area. The shower has a swimsuit spinner machine to help the swimsuit dry. There are lockers but no locks so if you go bring your own lock. There is no sauna or stream room. read more

So I went to the pool today and the outdoor pool got shut down for reasons unknown by the county. There was only one lifeguard that knew what he what he was doing while all the other had zero knowledge. Then what looks to be the managers start screaming at him when all he was trying to do was direct the other lifeguards. These poor lifeguards need to be treated with respect!!! This YMCA has it all. 2 full gymnasium, indoor track throughout, and both indoor / outdoor pool. Not to mention, a well-run child watch area equipped with toys and a jungle-gym play area to keep the kids busy for an hour or 2 so the parents can get a quick workout. The indoor pool splashpad is ideal for the winter months, and I like that the exterior walls are translucent, so you can still see what the child's doing climbing up stairs, so parent knows when they need to be at the slide. ***Wish they had a Dry/Wet sauna. So... in order to go swimming at Riverchase since the YMCA took it over... you now have to show them your license, fill out an application (which includes how much money you make monthly), get your picture taken, the fee went from $5/person to $13/person. (That is just to go swimming for one day- not the membership.) The 'lifeguards' are teenagers- and they're more focused on flirting than they are on their job. The girls uniforms are a red one piece that are supose to go over their butts- not between the cheeks like one of them decided was appropriate in front of children while she was dancing around, smiling at the male 'lifeguard' across the pool. Children are not permitted in the indoor pool until SEPTEMBER- adults only until then. read more

I'm a member primarily for the pool and the childcare. I've renewed every year, even through Covid and through the extended repair issues that kept the pool closed for another season beyond that. I know Riverchase is dealing with staffing issues, but unless they expand the pool hours soon, I won't be renewing. 12pm-6pm is too limited for working families (and/or families with kids that still nap). I used to love going to the pool as a family after work, and that's no longer an option. I love supporting my community center, and their transition to YMCA, but I'm here for the pool and those hours aren't enough, and we'll have to go elsewhere for summer fun. read more

I've only been to the pool area. There are separate rates for residents of Fenton vs. non-residents. But unlike other pools in the St. Louis area, they do not require that you purchase a separate membership card before you can enter. I was lucky enough to go on their anniversary and got in for the resident rate of $5. The pool is surrounded by grassy areas and lots of lounge chairs. The lap pool is separate from the kid area and lazy river. The kid area and lazy river is about 3..5 feet deep, with shallower areas at the entrances (ramp goes down and eventually get deeper. Unlike a traditional lazy river (like at Six Flags) there are no tubes and it is not self-contained. Meaning, you will walk or swim in a circle, but at the end, you exit the lazy river back into the general pool. It gets the job done, but it's not "lazy lazy." The price is right, the pool is clean, the parking is plentiful. read more

I was told about this place from a friend. It's not in an area you would just drive by. I'm glad they told me about it. I took my daughter and friends to in on a late Saturday afternoon. We just made the discount cut off apparently and got 4 of us in for $15. We really just wanted to play some basketball. They have two full courts. One was being used for paddle ball or something like that so we played on the first floor. After about an hour the gym was empty with just us so we played some 2 on 2 in volleyball. Didn't get a chance to look at the workout facility but it look large. Also has multiple pools with a waterslide inside and looked like one outside. Quite a nice place and will for sure return. read more

This YMCA has horrible holiday hours. Hours posted online and in their facility say their Labor Day hours are 7-11AM. At 10:45, I was told the gym was closed. I said "the sign says 11, where does it say 10:45?" The employee said, "Well we should probably have a sign, but we close at 10:45 and you need to leave." If you advertise a time, you should honor that time and not kick people out 15 minutes early. Only being open 4 hours is ridiculous! I was told it's because they don't have enough lifeguards. Funny, I've never seen any lifeguards working in the fitness area. As I was working out I heard an employee tell someone, "the outdoor pool is included in your membership this year, but we aren't sure if it will be next year." So, services being taken away, but prices aren't being reduced. The diving boards were taken out- a lifeguard said because they didn't have insurance. Yesterday was the first time were had ever gone to the Riverchase Recreation Center. Wow! We only went to the pool area and I love that the life guards are walking around the whole time checking out the pool. I love the fact when we first got there, the kiddie area pool did not have the water play area on and the head life guard went quickly and turned them on. Everyone from the time we checked in and we left was very friendly. When we went into the elevator, the maintenance guy was just as friendly and was asking my grandson how he liked the pool. sadly, went twice to try to get swim workouts in here, first time was a nightmare with kids and people getting into swim lanes, oblivious to pool etiquette, guards were overwhelmed at best. second time- called to be sure lap lanes were open , drove 40 minutes, waited at front desk for close to 30 minutes while staff waited on computers and tried to do day passes. after finally getting to lap pool there was a line for one in one out? while kids played in lap pool and three lap lanes had one person per lane. Having a serious 3200yard swim ahead of myself- sorry- but waiting to see if a kid or two came out was ridiculous. poor communication, staffing, etc. serious swimmers- go ANYWHERE else! read more

Riverchase is a fine gym that gets the job done. It's super cheap if you are a resident in Fenton...like dirt cheap. This makes it nearly impossible to pass up. It's hardly ever crowded and when it is, you never have to wait for anything. It's clean and there are just the right number of machines. Apart from a track, cardio, and weight training machines they have a huge pool and basketball court. The pool lap area is pretty small...I think it has like 4 lanes? The basketball court is nice and they are always setting volleyball nets among other things. The weights area doesn't have a ton of free weights but enough to get the job done. Riverchase has tons of community events but they are mainly aimed at kids/families. If you are looking for a gym to pop in and do your simple work out without anything too fancy, than Riverchase is perfect. read more

I am a huge fan of Riverchase. Before every municipality in St. Louis started building super pools, Fenton did it first. They created a great little outdoor and indoor pool space with an amazing recreational center for the residents of Fenton to use as well as residents of, well, everywhere else for just a little more money. Riverchase's pools are always immaculate. They have the huge water slides and a great lap pool and diving area that many of the newer establishments do not have outdoors. Also, the indoor pool is great and has slides and lap lanes, as well as a huge hot tub that is open year round. This place is much more than a pool though. There are a ton of sports teams you can join, both as a child and as an adult to stay fit, they have great work out rooms, and a ton of classes from arts and crafts to aerobics. The dressing rooms are pristine and the staff is incredibly friendly. As neighborhood rec centers go, this is one of the older ones around now, which is sad considering it's only about 10 years old. They have really kept it up, though and it's a very nice place to go and work out. If you live in Fenton, it's a cheap membership and if you don't, well, it's a little more, but maybe you will find it worth it. You can always try to finagle a guest pass out of a friend that does live in Fenton....that's what I always do. read more

I have only been to the pool area, so I don't know about the rest of the facility, but if it is anything like the pool, you have an A in my book. Teenagers are tough and roudy in the summer and get bored easily (do you sense a theme here) and what better way to get rid of all that pent up energy then a day at RiverChase. There are not one, nor two, but three pools! One is indoors and has a lazy river and a water slide as well as lanes for exercise. One of the outdoor pools is a competition pool and the other pool is a 'let's hang out and splash people and slide' kind. There is also an indoor hot spa if you feel the need to relax. Riverchase is a somewhat antiquated (equipment-wise) but nice neighborhood gym. It boasts free weights, an indoor track and pool, a jacuzzi and elliptical equipment. if you live in the Fenton area, it is definitely worth a look. read more

Having been members of a local YMCA in the past, we were moving to Fenton and thought we'd check out this recreation center. The staff were very friendly, although I would have liked to have seen at least one of the three gals at the front desk moving about the facility. Overall, the facility was very clean. I would have also liked to have seen at least free wifi offered, as it didn't appear they had towel service or even paper towels available in the restroom (hand dryers only). $1.75 for bottled water is a bit pricey. We're unsure at this time if we'll join. For the $10 we paid for the evening, it's a bit disappointing for my track walking and the hubby to use the pool. read more

The pools are clean and beautiful, and the lifeguards have positive attitudes and are clearly good young people. This is my number 1 favorite place to go I love their gym, not only is there a bunch of cool equipment but they have a running track from the gym area to the open space above the basketball court and is so enjoyable. We paid over $500 to have a swim party for 8-year-olds and the slide (biggest attraction for this age group) was broken down. I asked management if it was scheduled or a last minute issue and she had no clue. She told me to fill out a report which I did and never heard a word back from them. They charged us for every person who walked down the steps to drop their child off, but never asked which party they were attending (there were two parties going on at the same time). We paid for an extra hour and the janitor was there on the dot to tell us to get out. This place is poorly organized and a scam! You will pay a lot of money for poor service (employees who are not well informed and unwilling to help) and a facility that does not hold up to their end of the bargain. Des Peres pool is not far from here and offers night and day service! read more

Great place to celebrate anything. We just finished celebrating a baby shower. Plenty of space and privacy, everyone had s great time!

We attended a child birthday party at the river chase complex. The building was clean and the staff was semi friendly. After the party we paid to swim at the indoor pool. The initial red flag was that anyone not swimming had to pay the same fees as those swimming just to be in the pool area. Once inside the pool area we were blasted with the smell of chloramines indicating something just was right with the pool. The swimmers swam for 1.5 to 2 hours during which 4 out of 5/ kids began to develop a cough. 3 of these children complained of sore throats immediately after our swimming session was over. As one of the un lucky adults who chose to swim I too developed the cough as a direct result from being in the pool. In addition to the cough, I developed eye, skin and nasal irritation even after showering on site. My wife was one of the lucky adults who stayed out of the water but did complain of eye and lung irritation from being in the pool room. This was definitely our first and last visit to the complex. I hope this review would help another family avoid having a similar experience to ours by giving them a heads up of what to watch out for at River Chase. read more

Hosted a baby shower in one of the rec rooms a few months ago. For lack of a better title, the maintenance man was a great help. He helped us set up extra chairs when guests showed that didn't RSVP. He brought in fans when it got a little toasty in the room. He even helped us break down all the table and chairs post party. Very affordable room rates if you are a city of Fenton resident.
