Based on a recommendation decided to give Rivercrest a try when visiting Astoria and was not disappointed. After being welcomed by the bartender we were directed to seat ourselves anywhere in the restaurant, choosing a hi top table by the front window. The menu is accessed via a QR code and after an issue connecting was finally able to place the order. Started with the maple glazed brussel sprouts which were a little lite on the maple glaze but overall very good. Stayed with their Monday Special consisting of a cheeseburger, choice of a side ( salad, tator totes, French fries ) and a beer for only $18. Burger served with a tomato and lettuce and was juicy and cooked to perfection. Overall service was good. Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Great neighborhood restaurant/pub offering a wide selection of food and craft beers along with daily specials. The burger itself is flavorful with a good sauce situation, and the crinkle-cut fries are properly crispy instead of limp. They also don't hold back on the special sauce. Only real knocks are pretty minor but noticeable: could use a few more pickles for balance, and the cheese wasn't fully melted, so it didn't quite bind everything together the way you'd hope. I've been going recently for the men's US soccer as they are the teams bar. Great vibes wait staff and bartenders friendly on top of replenishing your drink or food . I came here for my Thanksgiving dinner. One of the few locations I saw that had good ratings, a menu comparable to what you expect in a traditional Thanksgiving meal and pricing that made this more economical than making my own meal at home and having a ton of leftovers. Service was very friendly and I discovered the goodness of butternut squash soup (I'd not even had butternut squash before). Nobody made me feel bad for being by myself on Thanksgiving and I wasn't surrounded by a zillion families and groups. If you're dining solo and a drinker, this could be a good option for you. I liked most of the food but I think next year I will do my own meal since this was one of those things I hadn't done and figured I should do at least once in my life. I don't ever really go out on a Monday night but I am so glad I finally got to try this spot last week! We have been dying to try their BIG MOZZ and were not disappointed ... in anything actually! The drinks were good; cheap and with a good amount of alcohol. I had an old fashioned and we shared a bunch of appetizers. We got the big mozz (duhhh that's why I went), a giant pretzel, nachos, pickle fries, wings, a pizza and fish tacos. The food was amazing! The portions were good and we literally were able to take some stuff home. The BIG MOZZ was massive AND cheesy so I would definitely come back here again for it. Went to Rivercrest for New York Restaurant Week, and I have to say, I was impressed. The limited menu had some great options on it. Though, Brussels sprouts were definitely the best dish. The staff was friendly, even with The Super Bowl looming in a few hours. They were still attentive, even though they needed to prep for that. Definitely recommend stopping by if you want some good bar food. Save room for the fried Oreos. If you do, I'd recommend adding a little bit of salt on top of the Oreos. I recently had dinner at Rivercrest. I generally have had good experiences there. Recently I went in and my group got the Big Moz, which is surprisingly good considering its just a big $16 social media inspiring piece of cheese. It is pretty tasty. I would say it is one of those things work going to eat. I recently got the Brisket Smoked Gouda Melt. I really just did not like it. I am sure someone else might have liked it. It just didn't do it for me. I felt the brisket was dry and not Gouda. I was expecting to be overwhelmed by the tastes of brisket and smoked Gouda competing for my attention. Neither gave me anything to worry about. Luckily, there was Big Moz. They have Cider on tap and it was cold. Jessica was taking care of our table and was very attentive and sweet. Despite my having said nothing, she noticed that I did not eat my sandwich and asked for a box. She inquired about the experience and the sandwich and I still just said "it's ok, I just didn't like it". She offered to give me something else or to send me home with something else. I declined. She took the sandwich off the bill. That service, that commitment to noticing my experience and trying to make it right with the lens of my having gone to get something to eat and making sure I actually ate that night because I chose their venue, is something that has been lost in today's food world. came here for a bday event . I honestly thought it would be more fun lol Thata not the places fault. It was a small area in the back . A curtain divided us from the rest of the crowd . Which wasn't very much place was linda dead. The only music was background music none in the actual area we were at. kind of a bummer! After looking at the menu for this place, I was so excited. They have a zero-proof section on the drink menu which I love. I am particularly fond of bar food, I mostly love anything fried and cheesy so our group got a bunch of things to share. I tried the mac and cheese, pickle fries, loaded potato flatbread, spinach and artichoke croquettes and the big mozz. The mac and cheese tasted great, I would've loved it with some bread crumbs and the cheese sauce was ever so slightly separated and grainy but I do like a more mild and creamy mac and cheese so this very satisfying. I also enjoyed the flatbread which quite literally was mashed potato pizza. I just think the mashed potatoes needed a bit more salt or butter flavor wise but I still loved it and loved the addition of sour cream on top. Now for the fried stuff, I did feel like everything kinda tasted the same, just like a deep fryer. The pickle fries had more breading than pickle, the croquettes and fried mozzarella tasted the exact same to me, probably because the croquettes also had a layer of mozzarella on top. The layer of breading on the mozzarella was thick which was good to balance how much of cheese was in there but I do think the flavor of the fried breading overpowered the mild nature of mozzarella a bit. But look at me, I'm being picky about bar food. Overall everything was pretty good, nothing tasted gross or felt too greasy. I quite liked the experience. I liked that I was able to order on my phone and keep a tab open on there and the servers arrived pretty quickly after submitting orders virtually which was cool. I'll start with, We wanted to watch the Yankee game, game starts at 6;30 we get there at 6:45 the place isn't too full at all, we grab seats at the bar with a view of the Yankee game on tv. (There was about 9-10 tvS in the room I was in) Mets were also playing and the Knicks game was coming on at 7:30. By 7:30 the place got pretty full and they turned the Yankee game off, I asked if they could maybe put it on another one of the tvs that were showing the Mets game next to each other or the tvs showing the same knicks game next to each other. I was told someone was watching those and she couldn't change it. Ok, but we was also enjoying the tv they changed the Yankee game on for someone else. If the food was good, I may have returned. If the service was good I may have returned. But I had to wave and flag down the bartender just to order a beer, and 4 beers later I had to flag down for every other round. They don't care about people who aren't a regular face. The guy next to me was soo soooooooooo drunk and a space invader and they just kept serving him beers.... Wings were ok, typical bar wings. sliders were not good and the chicken tenders had a really weird flavor in the breading, arrived a bit cold. On my most recent trip into NYC, I flew into LaGuardia Airport. That turned out to be perfect since I landed at around the start of the weekend Spurs match versus Brentford. It was nice to check this place out as I saw that it was the official home for the Queens Spurs Supporters Club. From the airport, I took the M60 bus over to Steinway St then walk a few blocks up and over to the bar. For a Spurs morning match, they had a limited menu. Since I wanted to order the Eggs Benedict Florentine off of their brunch menu, I had to wait until 11 am. That was perfectly fine since there was still another half of football to watch. I was only drinking water and the bartender kept my glass full. You'll have to take a flight of stairs down for their restrooms. Both the food and service was good. I recently went to Rivercrest to meet friends to watch a basketball game. Vanessa, our waitress, went out of her way to give fantastic service. Despite the crowds, she maintained a friendly personality and worked nonstop. The food was delicious, especially the chicken wings and giant mozzarella stick. Ciara, the manager, went out of her way to help me with a credit card issue. She even checked up on my billing a few days later. I have never had anyone go the extra mile to help a customer. We went this past Sunday to watch the Bills game and I was so pleasantly surprised by the attention we received, and the quality of the food! I've only been to Rivercrest for drinks and this is my first experience trying their food! We shared the Nachos Rancheros, side of tots, and the PB&J crepes! WOW the nachos were absolutely fresh, the tortillas nice and crispy with just the right amount of cheese and guac. The tots with super fresh and crispy, and the crepes .... Well they left us speechless! Talk about a yummy and healthy treat! It wasn't overly sweet in any way, and the jelly is freshly made with cooked strawberries - not sweet at all! The PB as nice and crunchy and the bananas super sweet! We had to order an extra order of the crepes before we left because we just couldn't get enough of them! Definitely Rivercrest left us with a lasting impression and we cannot wait to return for brunch! Additionally, our server and the hostess that day were so accommodating and professional. I don't know their names but we sat at table D8. The hostess noticed we had lefitovers and despite the very busy day (it was packed!), she noticed we needed to_go boxes and offered to bring them to us! I celebrated my birthday here a week ago and cannot say enough good things about my experience! Before booking my party here, I had actually never been to Rivercrest. Of all the places I reached out to, I ended up choosing them because they were accommodating, communicative, and within my budget. However, after booking the party I decided to make several (incognito) trips to check out the space and food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Each time I visited I felt more confident in having chosen them and they did not disappoint.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was plentiful and most importantly delicious. I chose a package that offered 5 hors d'oeuvres for 2 hours and each one of the selections was a hit. There are items offered in their party packages that are not on the regular menu, like their delicious pork belly bao buns and birria empanadas, which I hope make it onto the specials menu in the future. As my party was winding down they provided to-go boxes and bags for my guests to take food home and my guests left full and happy. I really have to thank Ciara, Jessica & Jesse for making my birthday celebration a memorable one. They made sure to take care of my guests, made us feel welcomed, and allowed us to linger well after my party ended. Rivercrest was a fantastic venue for my wife's birthday party! We had previously dined there during restaurant week, and were fans of the beer list, which included locals and rare finds, as well as the food and cocktails. Rivercrest set aside a large dining area for our party of 50 people. They provided us with a special catering menu, in addition to allowing us to order off the standard menu. We had a number of dietary restrictions including vegetarians and gluten-free guests, and Rivercrest was able to accommodate all and clearly label the food. They reached out to me in advance to coordinate decorations for our event. We had flowers on the tables, and were able to get a birthday slideshow running on 5 TVs, while the kids played Nintendo on a 6th TV. They also pulled a velour curtain across our section to give us privacy from the bar area. Rivercrest's waitstaff were extremely attentive. They checked in with me with suggestions on when to bring out and replenish our catering, and were responsive when we ordered extra food for the kids table. We were delighted to hear that two of the guests from our party have reached out to Rivercrest to book their events. It was a seamless experience. Decided to go to Rivercrest on a holiday weekend. It wasn't crowded and my group of 4 were seated right away. All of the staff were attentive and nice. Water was always refilled right away. Now the food- delicious. We really, really REALLY loved the pickle fries and dry rubbed chicken tenders for apps. The also enjoyed the chicken sandwiches for dinner. I remember when Rivercrest opened I knew it would be a great addition to the Ditmars area. ...and it is. The menu isn't huge, but the food is very good. Drinks are strong. The place itself is huge inside, and they have a nice outdoor dining setup. When you order food/drinks, you order and pay straight from your phone so there's minimal wait staff involvement.
