Another visit here and a returning happy customer! This is such a great spot in Astoria and better than a lot of places in Manhattan. This time I ordered the salmon wrap with a side salad which was so flavorful and had me feeling wishing I ordered 2! One day I will come back and try their delicious menu of milkshakes!
The Grand looks so nice we couldn't wait to try it. The food was good, the waitress was nice. I didn't know what to expect but figured it would be good and it was. The Philly cheesesteak was good wasn't made with cheap meat it appeared. But I can't believe I thought I took a pic or a video & I didn't.
I came here a couple of times with different groups but always for brunch, and I was never disappointed! The place is pretty big, clean, bright. There's days (usually Sundays) where it can get pretty busy, but it doesn't matter, because the service will always be pretty attentive! We got our food pretty fast and it tasted great. Also, they do Greek frappe and freddo espresso/cappuccino. So good! :)
I think it was just okay. My salmon wrap with couscous did not have much flavor. I had to ask for sauce to make it taste more. I stole some of my friend's sweet potatoes fries and those were delicious. She enjoyed her chicken ciabatta sandwich. Menu was not updated because I saw all day breakfast but when I asked, they said it's not true. I was looking forward to the DJ that Saturday night and there was no DJ. The website said there is a DJ. I guess August is a slow month!
THE GOOD ---------------- + SUPER lively atmosphere for brunch. ++++ Was here from 1-4 PM on a November Saturday and the restaurant was packed to the gills throughout. ++++ Music was pumping with mix of pop songs, but a bit on the loud side to the point it was hard to hear others at our table. ++++ Crowd was young and trendy. Almost felt like we were at a lounge. ++++ Restaurant had plenty of seats and tables, but, it's best to make a reservation if you don't want to wait. ++++ Great for large groups and large group reservations can be made by calling them. + Food is pretty much on par with other good brunch restaurants I've been to. ++++ Menu had plenty to choose from, including Fall Specials. ++++ Breakfast burger was solid. Burger was cooked medium well instead of the requested medium, but, nevertheless it was still good. Runny egg was perfect and fries were supppper crispy the way I like it. ++++ Skillet Baked Eggs also were fantastic. Lots of cheese and very tasty. ++++ Three Cheese Omelette was huge. Plenty of home fries on the plate and the omelette was perfect for the kids. ++++ Friends ordered other brunch entrees and didn't hear a single complaint. + Service was excellent throughout. Our food came out fairly quickly. + Making a reservation for a group of 13 was easy through the phone and I received a resy email confirmation after. + Our connected tables were ready exactly when we needed it. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - As mentioned earlier, if you're coming here for a quiet, peaceful brunch, this might not be the spot for you. Music was louder than preferred for chatting. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = There is also a decent size outdoor seating area for the warmer months.
- Busy, lively, energetic atmosphere during Saturday brunch--great vibe, but the music and crowd made it pretty loud and a bit challenging for conversation in our larger group of 13 - The restaurant was nearly packed around 1p - Very accommodating and attentive waitstaff - Food was excellent: I had the Skillet Baked Eggs--two eggs baked in a savory tomato sauce in a cast-iron skillet, plus home fries and toast, perfect for sopping up all that hearty, tomatoey goodness; Iced Banana Maple Latte was strong with just the right amount of sweetness from the whipped cream and maple syrup; my hubs ordered the Breakfast Burger, which came slightly overcooked from the requested medium but still very enjoyable; the kiddos shared the Three Cheese Omelette and finished it without complaints--always a win! - Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals - Word of advice--BRING CASH--otherwise, prepare for multiple fees: start with automatic 20% gratuity for large parties, then a 3% credit card fee calculated on food PLUS gratuity, and sales tax applied on food PLUS the 3% fee; charging the 3% on top of the auto-gratuity felt a bit off - Still giving 4 stars because the food was exceptional and the service was very good despite the busy brunch rush--will definitely bring cash next time!
What a grand time :D Everyone enjoyed the food! Our table ordered all sorts of brunch entrees--sandwiches, eggs benedict, pancakes, chicken and waffles. My Crispy Chicken sandwich was sooo good and filling (chipotle mayo is top tier), and I took the second half home. Their drinks are served in huge glasses, not the usual flutes that mimosas and bellinis are served in. Bottomless was truly bottomless--never saw the bottom of my glass! If you have a large party, call ahead and reserve. We called four days ahead for a party of 13 and they were able to accommodate us and had our table ready when we arrived. I also liked that they allow everyone to order a la carte rather than having us choose from a family-style prix-fixe menu.
I came here with a voucher. The service was amazing. Alllll of the staff were attentive. Our waitress name was Ianna or so. I have to check my receipt. But she was great. It was a calm Friday night. The drinks were tasty, my partner especially loved the margarita. There was a DJ. He played calm "background" music. Overall pleasant date night.
I visited with a group of girls. There were about 9 of us total. The service was pretty slow. The staff did make sure to come back and check in that everything was good but the food was just underwhelming to me. They had typical brunch items but it just fell a bit short for me. The potatoes were good, the pancakes were ok, pretty fluffy and floury. If you like that then it may be for you. The space was nice and is good for accommodating large groups but otherwise I find no real reason to return.
CUTE LUNCH SPOT IN ASTORIA I stopped in for an early lunch. We were promptly seated and the service was attentive throughout. The menu was varied with lots to choose from which was what drew us in because I was dining with a fairly picky eater. We opted to order a couple starters to share amongst us since it was still pretty early in the day and no one was up for a full entree. We had the Guacamole & Chips, Sweet Chili Chicken Wings and Crispy Shrimp Tacos. Everyone was happy with what we ordered. The shining star for me was the Strawberry Nutella Crepe which I added a scoop of Vanilla ice cream to make it sheer perfection. The strawberries were fresh and the Nutella was generously drizzled on top. This one I ate all by myself. On the way out I noticed that they offer All Day Brunch which is something that I will have to come back to try!
Greek Town Astoria cannot be denied it's certain zest for their food and drinks and joyous consumptions. Now crossing the six month mark with the new girlfriend, she's taken me on some day and nighttime humdingers within the inner circles of this culture. I've always respected the Greeks for all of their, albeit antiquated contributions to civilization, their history is one of math and science, stars and sea and much more we all know a little something about from our books when we were in school. Now a bit of a dying culture in my eyes as so many other beautiful cultures are dying because of factors I shall remain steadfast in my tightness of lip. But I shall see the country at some point in the future, maybe I'll stay a while so I might get some food staples and architectural understanding as the language is so challenging. The Grand was slamming music - Greek music -- ehh, its a little hard on my ears but I'm powering thru, as the servers sling plates of spinach this and puff pastry that and salads that reawoke the greens lover in me. And you don't have to be eating here in the street side section of the cafe insulated by thick shrubs and views of this special coven within a part of town that's been a Greek stronghold since I was a young lad and likely decades earlier. Have a coffee or frappe, be careful with the Ouzo as it's Grappa that kicks like a mule.
As being a patron of this establishment from before, always content with my food options. Service is always is impeccable and the ambience weather outside or inside is always a site to see. read more

I recently went to The Grand with a few friends and overall it was a mixed experience. The food wasn't really anything special, but the drinks definitely made up for it. They were actually better than the food. What truly stood out though was the service. Our waitress Lauren D was amazing. She was very attentive, kind, and made sure we were comfortable the whole time. The best part was at the end when she asked if we were celebrating anything. After I told her it was my birthday, she came back with a complimentary cheesecake and even sang happy birthday, which was such a thoughtful and sweet gesture. Overall, the food and the drinks were okay. The music was gre. Nice place for photos and nice little vibe. Honestly, the service is what would bring me back. read more

We came to the grand on a sunday to celebrate a birthday. Right off the bat, they claimed they did not have our reservation for 10 people and we had to show them the confirmation email. After this we waited about 30 minutes for them to get a table ready and seat us. The hostess was rude and did not make us feel welcomed. She made us feel like we did something wrong when really the restaurant messed up. Thankfully, when we actually got sat, our waitress, Katerina was wonderful. She was all smiles, accommodating, quick, and made our experience so much better. Some of my friends got bottomless brunch and she made sure their drinks were always full. She handled a party of 9 by herself very well! As far as the food, my favorite was the iced vanilla latte I ordered. The coffee was delicious!! I ordered the Shakshuka as the entree and it was okay. The eggs were a bit over cooked and not as runny as I would prefer and the tomatoes base was the opposite, a bit too wet. read more

Came here for brunch last weekend with my cousin and had a good time. We had a reservation that we were late for, however, we were still accommodated and were seated right away. We had chips with guacamole and fruits as starters. For drinks, we had a mimosa, a bellini, iced coffee and frozen rose. Each and every drink was satisfying and refreshing. My cousin and I both had the chicken with waffles as our entrée. The chicken was flaky and it was obvious that it was cooked in a rush. Also, the portion of chicken wasn't the best. The waffles, however, were cooked to perfection. We had to use hot sauce to give the meal more flavor. We dined outdoors since it was so nice out that day. We still was able to heat the music being played and the aesthetic at this restaurant is pretty. There is a floral border surrounding the sign in the front of the restaurant that attracts you to take a photo. I love the fact that the menu contains a variety of foods to order for brunch, lunch, or dinner. I can definitely see myself dining here again in the future. read more

I've dined here on multiple occasions and I always enjoy the food and a good cocktail. Last night was no different. The restaurants ambiance was so festive as it was decked out in holiday spirit. We enjoyed two tasty dishes; the Chicken Fusilli & the Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie and an Espresso Martini. We stayed late and the servers were kind. read more

The service, the food, and the restaurant were beautiful. We were greeted and given an option of where we wanted to be seated. The food was delicious. I had chicken and waffles, nice juicy moist and filled with flavor. We sat at the bar and I must say the service was wonderful. The bartender was super friendly and attentive. They had a great mixture of music the filled the air that was very upbeat and pleasant. This was a great way to enjoy a Sunday brunch. read more
The Grand is dedicated to brunch based on their all-day brunch menu. It's great that I don't have to wait until the weekend. This place is baby friendly and you get a dessert if you check in on yelp! The staff were super nice and helpful. The Eggs Benedict was generous on the spinach, which I appreciate. The hollandaise was on point. My SO ordered the BEC and it looked quite delicious. Ample fries abound, which I devoured. Our meal ended with a hot chocolate brownie and a nice scoop of ice cream on top. What a treat! read more

I loved the service, the girl spoke spanish to us which made it easier for my mom to ask questions about the menu! We went on memorial day and it wasn't busy at all The ambiance was really nice, and everything was very clean! I also love that is almost in the heart of Astoria !! read more

Came here w my nephew & girlfriend a few months back. Can't recall specifics but we all thoroughly enjoyed the food & the service was fantastic. Ambience wise this place is a feast for the eyes, absolutely love & will def come back to try more yummy food. read more

Cutesy brunch day on Sunday with the girls! We sat outside and enjoyed the nice wether. The decor had such lovely floral detail. Order - Lychee martini: Sweet and strong just how I like it haha - Brioche French Toast: The taste was alright. I feel if the toast was more crisp on the edges with a buttery finish it would've been better. The apple compote was not what I expected, it did not seem homemade to me (6/10). - Skillet baked eggs: I liked it but did not love. My mistake because it was rich in crushed tomato, but if it had feta in the sauce rather than just sitting on top I would have liked it much better (6/10). No music the day we attended which was fine since we had a lot of catching up to do haha read more

I have been here several times for brunch and have usually always had a good experience. I do believe their prices are a bit elevated but the food is good so I don't really mind paying the price. They have a bottomless brunch option of $25 per person for 90 minutes; their options are Bellini, mimosa, sangria, piña colada or Bloody Mary. I started off with a mimosa and then made my way to the piña coladas; those piña coladas were absolutely delicious. I had their breakfast burrito that came with fries; it was very tasty and I really loved the pink sauce they had it in, gave it a nice flavor. The French fries were crisp. The service was pretty good and the server tried her best despite the place being so busy. read more

Came here for brunch about 2 weeks ago with my friend. The place is spacious and beautiful. Sat at the bar while waiting for my friend and had a mojito. It was just ok. We got fried calamari for appetizer. It was delicious (forgot to take a pic). I had the steak and eggs which tasted great! Steak was well seasoned, eggs were cooked the way I like them and the home fries were cooked and seasoned well. My friend had the chicken sandwich and enjoyed it as well. They have bottomless brunch. My friend opted for the mimosas while I got the Bellini. I would definitely recommend and would come back again. read more

This was our first stop off the airplane to start our girls trip in New York. We put in brunch spots and it led us here. I'm glad I saw the rating on my GPS before checking here because the overall rating here is low and I would've missed out. My friends and I truly enjoyed! We had everything from Chicken and Waffles, to Salmon Burgers, Steak Sandwiches, etc... The bottomless mimosas were great! And our server made sure she kept up topped off! Great job She helped set the tone of our vacation. I didn't read all the reviews but try this place for yourself! read more

Dined here for brunch with some friends on a Sunday. The restaurant itself is very pretty and spacious. They have a bottomless deal for an additional $25 with the purchase of a brunch entree and drinks include mimosas, Bellini, sangria frose and pina coladas. We decided to get a fruit platter to share and unfortunately the platter they handed us had mold on the blueberries. We told our waitress and she took it back and brought a new one. For entree we ended up waiting a while to place our order and I had to flag our waitress down so we can order. We decided on the eggs Benedict a halloumi sandwich with fries and the shrimp Caesar salad. The entrees were delicious and well portioned. For drinks we got Bellini and when I wanted to switch to a frose or pina colada they were unfortunately out. I did end up trying the white sangria and it was light crisp and refreshing definitely my favorite. Since I had Yelp I saw that if you check in you are able to enjoy a free dessert so we opted for a Nutella crepe which was delicious and full of strawberries. It gets busy for brunch so expect to wait but it was overall a decent time. read more

Great restaurant and great food! The restaurant offers both inside and outside seating with the hostess being located outside. The inside was decorated nicely in theme with the season. The service was quick and the server waiting on my table checked in constantly. The food was greatly seasoned and came with the accommodations asked for. read more

There is bottomless brunch. On weekdays it ends at 12pm and on weekends I believe 1pm. It's 25$ for the bottomless mimosas/drink you want.
