If you've ever walked into a g@n store and dreaded talking to the fudds at the counter, this place will be a huge relief. They know their stuff, they aren't pushy, and the store itself has WAY more items than you might think. They have a lot of things I usually would order online because you wouldn't expect to find them locally. Suppressor mounts and hubs, flashlight tape switches, good, high end NVGs, steel targets, and they personally test a huge majority of the gear they sell - and then put up well made YouTube videos with the results. If you've ever bought an NFA item from a shop and then had them sit on your approval for days or weeks... another sigh of relief with ECG. From what I can tell, they strive to get notifications out to customers the day they get the approvals from the ATF. No games like I've played with a lot of other NFA shops over the last 14 years. Overall, if you've never been in - you should support these guys.

There's really not much else to do in this area so I figured I might as well attend this workshop. Malia, the class coordinator, was flexible about letting me register at literally the last minute to take this class with my friends. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the class was designed. The brief lecture was far from boring, the instructor, Chris was very thorough and seemed to be an expert on the subject matter. Don't get me wrong - its a long course - almost 4 and a half hours long - but Chris is a very efficient, patient and thorough instructor. I honestly did not realize how quickly time passed because the material content and his presentation/delivery techniques made the material easy to grasp and understand. I especially liked how he tailored his content to both audiences who have been around and using guns all their lives - to those with limited exposure to them - myself being in the latter group. What I really appreciate about Chris's class is how much emphasis he places on safety and awareness - I think that alone shows the level of respect Chris has for an subject area that has drawn countless debates. I highly recommend taking this course. Even if it may not be legal (yet) to carry in your state, the permit you do end up getting is valid in nearly half the US. In addition, the level of knowledge you take away from this class alone, gives you more awareness and respect for gun use/safety.

There are however some negatives that could make shopping here much better. A large part of their business comes from online sales. They are one of two or three sites well known in the muzzleloader community as a go to place for hard to find supplies. With so much online business you would think the web site would be easy to navigate, but it could use some improvement and streamlining. It does take some practice and effort to find certain items and a number of links on their page come up with no products listed. It can be a little tedious to find some items. The biggest drawback is the time from order to shipping. A five to seven day wait for orders to be shipped is not unusual. This usually means a 10 to 12 day wait from the time an order is placed until it arrives. That's an eternity by todays standards. Especially so as you pay $15 for shipping and handling when so many companies are offering free shipping for larger orders. Negatives aside October Country still has a great selection for the muzzleloading enthusiast. If that is one of your passions you do need to check them out.

Finally a sales person came up and asked if he caul help me, I told him what I wanted to see. He said that those very rarely come in and he hadn't seen one for quite a while. I said how about showing me that one right there...... He pulled it out, looked at it and said, wow, didn't even know this was in the case. He handed me the firearm. After clearing the weapon, I checked it for function and placed it on the glass. The sales man put the firearm back in the case and asked if I needed to see anything else. Well, I said ,you can show me the firearm boxed up, I would like to purchase it. He had a surprised look on his face, but boxed it up and started the DROS paper work. went over to the cashier and handed over my money. the only negative thing I can say is, the salesman was not up on store inventory. He was respectful, but I think he just is used to lookie lews. I have made two other purchases from the shop. got to deal with the owner on the other two. The man needs to let his sales staff handle customers until he can gather some people skills. He is VERY STOIC. A thank you after the purchase would be nice. I know they have a validation scheme where if you get three validations you get a watery discount, but it's just too much work. Just gimme the first hour free huh? Full validation for paying customers? Anyway... it's a bitter pill to swallow since coming downtown already comes with its own headaches. But I digress.

My spouse and I are gamers and Manga readers so it was a dead giveaway to our family that we'd like the store. The store carries books, comics, Manga, dvds, video games, card games, d&d stuff and even some board games, including the side products like wall scrolls and figures. The family loves the book and comic sections, and frequent the Nintendo and Playstation aisles. No surprise they left with a couple clearance books. We picked up a set of One Piece figures that my husband had been eyeing online but couldn't find a complete set at a single store. EntertainMart had the full set and a couple extras so we were stoked on that find. We even noticed a Nintendo Switch OLED for sell which is out of stock everywhere and if we didn't already own a switch and switch lite we might have grabbed too. We went fairly late so they didn't have much staff on site but there also was only a few customers there. The cashier who helped us was friendly. For being his first couple days on the job, did a good job quickly getting through the multiple spider wraps we had brought up. They use multiple kinds of wraps so he ended up getting a crash course because of us haha. We will definitely continue to stop by when we visit family in town and hope to find some new treasure amongst the shelves.
