The staff has always been helpful and nice. Someone tended to the athletic shoes dept who actually knew what they were talking about. Honestly, this is more than I expected from an affordable sports store. We are glad they are there and will continue to support them when we don't need the high end sports equipment.

The biggest issues have been consistently poor customer service, an unwelcoming atmosphere and prices that are often higher than nearby competitors. One major concern that has always bothered me is hearing employees gossip and make petty disparaging comments regarding local customers and other businesses. It's unprofessional and doesn't inspire confidence, trust or reflect good character. I've heard similar stories from others over the years. You can find anything online for less these days and half the appeal of a local gun shop is building relationships and enjoying the experience but I've never found that here. This has been consistent with the old and new ownership- I've been treated with more courtesy at Walmart. The best way I can describe this shop's vibe is this: it's basically a high school locker room- except it's full of all the people that nobody likes and who probably don't like you. Even firearm and NFA transfers (which should be straightforward) have been unpleasant enough here that I have absolutely no reason to walk in there. Over time, most of the people we know have quit doing business there for one reason or another, myself now included. There are plenty of decent firearms retailers in North Idaho staffed by people who treat you like they appreciate your business and your time.

I would like to say the main guy who helped sign us up was super nice and helpful. We asked for someone to come in and show us how to load, unload, and shoot the guns and they never did. Also it's not if youve never even held one before but okay. We struggled the whole time and overall didn't enjoy our experience bc of that( us girls at least lol) We were really excited for this experience but honestly was kinda let down. This was the best game in town to acquire those items. THE SETUP You don't see Sporting Goods stores like this in the Bay Area. Hell, not even in California. I felt like I walked into an outdoorsman's wet dream when I entered through the doors of this venerable establishment. OUR ITEMS It was a quick thing to find the rafts and the scuba gear we needed at this store. In doing some pricing at the sporting stores in Sacramento and Seattle, it appeared these purchases were a far better deal here in Idaho, by almost 30%-50%. [ Which makes the follow-up point obvious: if I ever need equipment in Idaho, DON'T BOTHER to buy it in California and take it up there - just wait and get it local - far better diversity and far far better pricing. GUNS Rifles with sniper scoping, pistols like refurbished Glocks, crossbows, dart guns, sling shots, refurbished (sub-machine?) repeating guns even. There is just about every personal weapon one could obtain to take into wilderness survival if they need it. I asked him to move the recoil lug back (adult - youth length) he gave it back to me with an 1/8 in gap in the forend. Get this, I called him out on it and what did he say? "I should have never taken a job from you" and "It's a cheap gun it doesn't matter anyway". Also told me he wouldn't fix it. So I wasted a few hundred bucks. I asked about his "Masters in gunsmithing" he was bragging about and if he's proud to hand this quality of work to a customer. This is my second post ever on this site and this is the absolute worst customer experience I have ever had.
