After reading the glowing reviews for Sports Acupuncture & Family Wellness, I decided to book an appointment because nothing else was working for my allergies and asthma. People who have serious allergies know what I'm talking about. I've seen so many doctors and had hundreds of tests since I was a child. They all were pushing allergy shots that didn't work and made me feel like my muscles were getting weaker. Dr Chang was really confident that we were going to undo my twenty years of allergies and asthma. He said it may take several treatments, but after Dr. Chang's first treatment there was a huge improvement!!! He then created an essential oil blend and taught me where to put it on a strict schedule. I stuck with him and now I can breathe and my anxiety has gone with it. FREEDOM!! After seeing how much he helped me, I brought my eighteen month old child to him because my son had a severe ear infection. Dr. Chang treated him and then used some essential oil to get rid of the ear infection. NO ANTIBIOTICS!!! AWESOME!!! I'm so happy that I found Dr Chang, and let me tell you, he is extremely knowledgeable and explains everything so us regular folks can understand. He REALLY CARES about his patients. I never gave acupuncture much credibility, and, for a while, I stubbornly refused seeing anyone without a M.D. degree. This was before I suddenly developed massive neck, upper back, and shoulder pains. At first, I went to see my primary care physician, who referred me to a specialist - he wasn't much help. Then, I began to see other specialists who were out of my health insurance network, where I had to pay a bundle. My fiance, who is Chinese, insisted that I try acupuncture for my upper body pain and eventually decided to appease her. I went to a local place in Queens, and they weren't much help. One of my coworker's recommended I go see Dr. Chang. So one day, I left my Manhattan office early and took the PATH train to NJ. And I Finally got treatment that worked! After a few sessions with Dr. Chang, I was relieved of my upper body pain, and my usual soreness (after I go to the gym) also disappeared. Not only does Dr. chang seem to know his stuff very well, he also has very cordial and gracious bed-side manners, unlike the specialists who saw me for a few minutes and treated me in an assembly-line like way. I still have some reservations for things that aren't considered "proven" scientifically, but I no longer think acupuncture is a bunch of baloney - I just needed to finally get therapy from someone who actually knew how to do it well. read more

I am so glad I found Dr. Chang! He got me back to running after I had been struggling with a running related injury for months. I had done physical therapy, chiropractic sessions, strength training, I had worked on my running form, all with fairly little results. Acupuncture, and Dr. Chang specifically, finally made a difference. I was so discouraged and emotionally frustrated as running for me is mostly a stress relief mean. I am finally pain free and happily back to running and I plan to continue acupuncture. I enjoy the sessions very much (they include relaxing music in a very cozy environment) and I feel the best I have in a long time. Dr. Chang is very competent, professional and a very caring person as well. I definitely recommend trying his practice to anybody who is very active and either dealing with a sport injury or just looking to add to their wellness and to continue enjoying their active life. I have already recommend it to several of my running friends! On a different note, I also recommended Dr. Chang to a very good friend of mine who was pregnant and late in the delivery. I've been going to Dr Chang now for 3 months and I can't recommend him more highly. From the first consultation he made me feel so at ease and I was blown away with how knowledgeable he is. I came to him with shoulder issues which had gotten so out of hand that I was getting headaches and tingling in my arm - I could feel the difference after 2 acupuncture sessions! I can't remember the last time my neck and shoulders have felt this loose and I'm a much happier person for it - even my husband has noticed the difference/lack of complaining I do about them now. Aside from doing his job incredibly well, the one thing that puts Dr Chang above the others is he knows when it's time to focus on a different area in a particular session. I've moved over from Australia so there's been a couple of times I've walked into my appointment feeling very down and homesick, and he's done an emotional treatment on me instead - this in itself was an incredible experience and I walked out of there feeling 100% better than I did walking in. HIghly recommend Dr. Chang. I walked in, out of the blue one day, cause I was so out of it and crying and tired... crying jags, just like a little baby, b/c I was so tired due to medical condition, and was up for trying acupuncture for some relief. Dr. Chang talked to me and my partner for an HOUR... he was so kind and listened and gentle and helpful. He had all kinds of great suggestions for me...apart from any session. Then I had 3 great sessions with him, ..for my sleep / insomnia issues [probably due to some medication side effect: insomnia.ugh] . Happy to report: I've had 3 consecutive nights of 8 hours sleep ! I still take some meds for sleep in combo with the acupuncture treatments, and it was great to meet Dr. Chang and know there's a kind soul in the healing community -- in Hoboken, just 8 blocks from my house on Hudson Street. Dr. Chang is the best acupuncturist I have ever been to. So good that I travel from Manhattan just to go to his office in Hoboken. He knows more than most acupuncturists who practice traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) because he studied classical Chinese medicine under a master practitioner for years. He knows many times the number of meridians and special points to treat nearly any kind of medical condition. This is compared to some acupuncturists I've been to who don't know how to treat some conditions or do so poorly because they didn't have the same level of training. Not all acupuncturists give the same treatment! Not only that but Dr. Chang's bedside manner is impeccable. He always takes the time to explain what he's doing and works hard to fit you in or check on you if you are in pain. I went to him recently for a severely sprained ankle and he did some intensive acupuncture + electro stim to increase the circulation and get the swelling down almost immediately. Dr. Brian Chang has the best bedside manners, holistic in his approach and boy are his treatments effective!! Came in multiple times so far and each time he has healed me from the following - sinus congestion, knee ache, calf soreness, acid reflux and indigestion issues. At my first visit, Dr. Chang gave me so many resources based on what I shared with him about my ailments. Free of charge! He spent time getting to know me and my lifestyle to give me advise in those areas that had to do with reading and eating. I don't normally post online reviews, but feel compelled to do so, because Dr. Chang has been a major game changer for me. I originally discovered his practice online, and was overwhelmed by how many patients had been healed by his treatments. I suffer from herniated discs in my cervical spine and came to him in complete desperation. Upon entering his office, I was immediately calmed by the immaculate and soothing space that reminded me of many of my favorite yoga studios. Dr. Chang has excellent bedside manner and took the time he needed to truly understand my needs and health concerns. He worked around my schedule to make time for our sessions, and within weeks, I could walk without pain. Five stars? Should be TEN stars! Dr Chang is simply the best! I am really picky. He's been my acupuncturist for about 1 year now. He originally helped me for sciatica and I was so amazed at how well it worked I started to go to him for prenatal support. This is my second pregnancy and he has made it much more enjoyable by relieving my morning sickness, back pain, sinus issues. He's extremely knowledgeable, like I never knew that biofreeze has menthol which enters the blood stream and can affect my baby!!! So he gave me a homeopathic cream which doesn't enter the bloodstream and is safe for the little one I'm carrying! Now that's how awesome he is and an example of how he goes the extra mile! I've been coming to Dr Brian Chang for nearly a year now. I sincerely love the way he treats me and doesn't rush his patients at all. He can take an hour or 2 hours all depending on the symptoms at the time of the appointment. This is not a one stop shop Acupuncturist. I feel he wants each and everyone of his patients to better their lives through good health and mind. The office is professional and inviting. The methods he uses are so wide spread that it just goes to show that its very individual based. I have severe neck and shoulder complaints and the cupping, needles and his other fantastic methods really help me to continue living life to the full. I've had a lot of experience with acupuncture previously, and Dr. Chang is the best I've had, bar none. He is extremely skilled, patient, and knowledgeable - go ahead and ask him whatever questions you want about the science behind the art. From the moment I walked in, Dr. Chang's office assistant, Jessica was incredibly warm and friendly--she made me feel comfortable right away. When I sat down with Dr. Chang, he immediately put me at ease as well. I originally went to him based on a friend's recommendation, and I'm so glad I did. I've had a chronic cough for years (it's awful and hard for people to believe). It's triggered by stress, nervousness, anxiety--pretty much anything. I started seeing Dr. Chang in 2018. I am a believer in acupuncture and was seeing another doctor prior to seeing him. What makes Dr. Chang different is his approach to holistic healing through the lens of mental and physical treatments. He is reasonably priced and is constantly checking on his patients while they receive his care. He is always willing to listen when I am stressed or in a bad emotional place and offers advice and treatment to address it. I recommended a friend see him and he is treating her celiac disease. I was a little skeptical before seeing Brian because I had been to acupuncturists before and rarely are they great. I had several issues but primarily it was my neck and back. We discussed my issues and history thoroughly. Of course, right? The difference is he really listened. But even better I got relief from my neck and back pain! There aren't enough positive things that I can say about Dr. Chang. I began receiving treatment about a year ago after the tragic loss of my daughter shortly after giving birth.
