Pleasant Surprise visit to this mid size casino . Friendly staff clean establishment reasonably food prices. Poker room, table games all available till 4:00am . Had a great time up until I went to cash out my chips where I was told at the window that I had the wrong chips and to go back to the table. I walked right back over to the same table. The dealer was shifted 1 table over and the new dealer gave me an attitude and called the supervisor over who also had a very unprofessional attitude. The dealer then proceeded to give me 20 in chips when the value should have been 100. They said they had no idea what they were worth and would not ask the previous dealer who was 4 feet away. The casino 100% stole my winnings. I also gave my cousin 100 worth of the same chips and I presume the same thing happened to him. $160 in winnings were stolen by this casino. read more

Horrible customer Service, management and Security. Me and my 22 year old daughter came here to eat at Dukes chophouse, we were stopped at the door and Security insinuated my daughter had a fake ID. my daughter is a licensed contract driver for fedex, why would she need a fake ID. The manager said something doesn't feel right, my daughter offered to get her birth certificate and social security card and work ID, but the manager basically said in a round about way the ID is Fake. worst experience ever, this will be my last time here! read more

This was most disappointing if you're an Atlantic City, Vegas, Mohegan Sun, or Foxwoods person. A very small gambling floor, limited gaming, and limited food choices. The overall vibe was unsafe and unhealthy. The clientele were frightening at best, especially in the outdoor smoking section of slot machines, and the entire place was filthy. I left quickly not wanting to be in harms way or to catch anything. Highly recommend you avoid this place if you value your health and life. read more

I just had to come see this boondoggle. Kind of amused that someone thought that this place would generate 300 million dollars on the banks of the muddy Mohawk River and on land that was basically an old industrial brownfield. Not to mention far away from Schenectady's cultural offerings (yes there is much here). The atmosphere is basically cheap vodka in a paper bag casino culture (I'd say that about the casino 30 miles north of here as well...)...but the small size of this place got me thinking that the revenue projections were made by someone in a drunken haze.... Steve Wynn basically made the template of a casino making money by offering retail, dining, and top line entertainment. The dining here is basically Clifton Park mediocrity coupled with virtually none of the other critical points for a successful casino. Ask yourself...would you rather go to Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods, Turning Stone, or this place? In a saturated casino market, the Rivers model is a tough sell.... read more

Went there for our friends birthday towards the end of the night we ordered a pizza . My wife was having a hot flash had me walk just outside the main entrance to cool off cause she wasn't feeling good . When we tried to re-enter security told us we could not come back in cause she was to drunk . Nicely told them she wasn't feeling well and we were going to grab a pizza we ordered and head back to our $300 dollar a night room . Security told me no and we had to walk outside around the building in a snow storm freezing when she already didn't feel well . Also we were in T-shirts our jackets were in the casino .Walked around not happy , brought my wife back to our room. Went back down stairs to grab our pizza we already paid for and got stopped by security at the hotel entrance and was told I was not allowed back to grab our food . Asked for a supervisor and was escorted like a criminal to get my food . $9.00 to $11.00 drinks unless your playing at a card table ridiculous , but didn't complain was there to enjoy ourselves and celebrate with our friend to watch a band . Never at any time until we were forced to walk out in the cold was I ride or unprofessional. I stay weekly in Springfield Ma and go to the MGM casino and have never been treated that way . Also the drinks our free regardless if where you our playing . My recommendation is to stay away from this place. read more

What a terrible job by the security team at the door. I watched them mistreat every black person that came to visit the casino. Meanwhile every Caucasian that came in received Pleasant greetings. The wise thing about it was the 3 security personnel's were black, one African male and two AA women 9/1/2023. Such a disappointment to witness. The Italian restaurant really needs help and would not recommend the pizza, the crust soggy, poor tasting and is cooked on a wire rack and the sauce and cheese poor quality and lousy tasting if you can even see the toppings therefore a 6 out of 10 at best..... folks that's a D- to F. The semolina pasta is thick, gummy and tasteless, maybe more salt and boiling water might help??? The Asian restaurant Mian is ok but really misses the mark for authenticity, flavor profiles are not close and all sauces are bland and lacking, though the wings are always great, it also seems that their idea of Asian sauces are all very sweet and short on taste. The burgers around the corner are always over cooked and dry but the toasted brioche but is a classy touch. The wings are great at the burger place but the celery sticks are never fresh and the ends are always brown and old. I even took my celery back to the order taker because it was really nasty and slimy. They were replaced with decent new celery sticks. I received a barely audible sorry. There is no beverage service except the poker room and tables otherwise you have to buy water and coffee etc..... never experienced this in dozens of casinos. Bottom line is after experiencing these offerings I would really think twice before spending serious $$ at their steakhouse......food for thought??? The order takers at the pizza counter never say hello or thank you and never a smile but they have a tip cup on the counter with a sign something about positivity funny when you pay with a credit card the machine first prompts you about a tip and I always give them zero $ maybe they will get the hint. Checked in around 8:30pm 8-27. Requested a late check out when we made the reservation on the phone but was told to request it at the front desk upon arrival. Checkin went smooth, the staff was friendly, the gentlemen who checked us in was very kind and was able to get us our requested late check out at 12pm the next day. The following morning around 11:20 I received a call from a lady at the front desk asking why we have not vacated the room yet. I stated that we had a late check-out for 12. The lady (ALEXIS) stated that she did not have that in her system and that they were not offering late check-outs and demanded us to vacate the room. I told her that we had asked on the phone and confirmed it with the gentlemen that we checked in with that it was ok to leave at 12pm. She asked what his name was and I told her I did not know but my husband might have asked his name- but he did not know either and was in the middle of finishing his shower (because we were getting ready to leave). So I told Alexis that I apologize we did not know his name and asked her if she was able to see it from her end. She then continued to say yes she knew his name but couldn't disclose that to me because my name was not on the card that paid for the room. So I had to pull my husband out of the shower because she was literally demanding that we vacate the room right then and there. When we went downstairs to sort out what happened, Alexis was very upfront and confrontational. Not to mention super unprofessional in the way that she spoke to my husband and me. She kept interrupting me and raising her voice (when I tried to speak she cut me off and told me she wasn't talking to me and only to my husband who was standing right next to me). In the end, she was WRONG and said that she had confirmed with the gentleman who gave us the late checkout after she had called us continually and harassed us about vacating the room. I've never meet such an unprofessional lady and it completely ruined our experience staying at the hotel. We will be going there to play poker and that's it. Not a great spot for younger people. I am 24 years old and only really go here when we have company in town that has never been. Every time I try to get into the casino I get questioned or denied, EVEN WHEN I have my state issued drivers license and my passport. Every time this has been an issue, a manager has been called over. They ask questions liked "what's your sign", "what are the middle 3 digits of your license number", and more absurd questions that have nothing to do with actually proving my identity. I understand they're trying to cover themselves and not let in under-age people, but when I have two valid forms of ID it's a bit excessive. The few times I've had to deal with a manger they have been extremely rude and unprofessional. The actual casino itself is nice, but it is small. The drinks are decent but over priced. read more

It's my understanding that you play to win the bonus (which is quite exciting when it happens.) however, last night after playing $50 worth of 80 cent hits to get the bonus which paid a big whopping 85 cents I don't think I would play a machine again. I personally witnessed the bartenders over serve a couple, follow them out to grab a plate number then proceed to call the cops! It was the black chic and short, chubby, dark hair dude. I was floored! This couple seemed to be keeping to themselves and just enjoying each others company. They were very friendly, not loud or obnoxious. Be careful having a few drinks here (at least when these two are working). I personally will never have a drink here again and take that chance. I so wish I could give this place more stars because then that would mean I could add it to my "night out" options, alas... it is a dud of a casino. It's small, fine - I can roll with that. The issue is that it is unlike any other casino I've ever visited. One huge difference is that you pay for drinks even though you spend hours at their machines. Word on the block is that you have to be at a table to get complimentary alcohol. Speaking of alcohol, "WHERE IS IT?!" All of their drinks taste like flavored water. This was confirmed by a server when my friends and I complained. The server said, "I know, they barely put any alcohol in the drinks. They taste horrible!" Speaking of server, "WHERE ARE THEY?!" Dude, it's like trying to track down an endangered animal for research... the servers are more than scarce... I almost started to think they all had the day off! I saw a server an hour, no lie! This was not worth the drive. I may come back to dine at one of the restaurant but that is a slim chance. I so wish I had a better experience because this would have become my go-to venue. Visit was 06.18.22 1pm-3pm We were visiting for a mini vacation to Saratoga Springs, and decided to visit the Rivers Casino nearby. My husband is a casino vendor for Rivers Casino, and has been in the industry for 20 years. I have previously been an Atlantic City cocktail server for 20 years, and currently serve part time at Live Philadelphia. Needless to say, we love to visit other casino properties as we are very partial to the industry!! We met some interesting and friendly staff members, one in particular who deserves a shout out is Megan the cocktail server. She greeted us with a smile and pleasant voice as we "toured" the high limit slot area. We didn't need anything at the time, but she was sure to let us know to see her for assistance if needed during our visit. She is absolutely a great asset to this casino, and the company. She demonstrated an outstanding "face of the company" performance. She is absolutely a great way to start a guest's day on arrival, and most certainly the same for guests leaving the property. As we didn't need her assistance, I searched for her on the floor on our way out to leave her a 'thank you' tip. However, I was told by her server coworker that she had gone for the day. I decided to give my tip to her. She was just as sweet and personable, and approachable with a smile and pleasant voice. She had long, straight hair up in a ponytail and thin body type. First thing people need to realize when reading some of the other reviews here on Yelp for Rivers Casino is that gamblers are an odd, opinionated and strange bunch. Most gamblers by the science of odds and probability lose money and lose money on a regular basis, which means that they pretty much live in a fantasy world and expect things like comps, ass-kissing, big giant cartoon size boobs, fake smile's and a little more ass-kissing to help normalize there bizzaro world of giving their money away. Normal people don't live this way. These people have money to burn and do it because they can and so they can enjoy the comps which include dinners drinks free hotel rooms etc., and it makes them feel like a "big shot" for an evening. Either that or they live the highlife burning through their children's college funds or their retirement to help them Live there otherwise miserable lives with some sense of excitement. Both groups however when they realize what they've lost, believe that casinos have somehow cheated them and feel that they're owed something. Here in the real world the rest of us like to go to a casino for the excitement, the potential to possibly win a jackpot, or maybe hit a couple of black jacks have a few drinks, eat a decent meal and then go home and tell stories to our friends and relatives. Rivers Casino is a great place to do this. I have never seen Rivers Casino's bathrooms dirty, I have never had a bad meal nor a watered down drink. True this place isn't one of the giant multi million dollar casinos you'll see in Las Vegas and they don't give away free drinks like they do in Las Vegas which may be more a function of New York state liquor law and less casino policy-However it is clearly the nicer casino when comparing to a place like the pseudo-gambling establishment in Saratoga. No, it's not Turning Stone which is now being over run by college kids because it has an 18 y/o drinking age and no, it's not Foxwoods a gem in the woods too far to drive and very expensive to stay at. But is is smoke free, close, fun, clean, and not full of stuck up fat cat, professional gamblers whining about the lack of free drinks and lack of fake tits attached to fake smiles. I frequently attend the casino and think it's a decent place but not kind to the disabled or people with learning disabilities. They will kick a person with a disability out and ban him for life rather than someone who steals another person's player card and uses their points to purchase food who is knowingly and intentionally stealing and causes them to have to change their whole system but they only kick that person out for 30 days. Now they no longer give free refills on your soft drinks and you are required to pay $3 for a bottle of water at the bar, unlike all the other local casinos who give free water and free refill drinks and are much kinder to people with a learning disability. read more

I cannot believe this was the Grand Opening. We knew it would be crowded due to the novelty & location. Everyone I came into contact with was very disappointed with the place except for Octavia, the server at Johnny's. God bless her, she remained pleasant even tho you could see she was so embarrassed while telling customers they are OUT OF FOOD??Say what? It's only 7:30pm and it's the grand opening? Yes..Out of everything. None of the beers we ordered, no ziti w/meatballs, no basil for the margherita pizza. When I opened the box to my pizza,it was a liquid mess. They should've given me a spoon and croutons. I returned the pizza and was issued a refund. The prices for the casual dining options were comparable to an airport. Extremely Poor layout for the food court. Mian(Asian fare)had about 20 tables all jammed in together, with no elbow room. There were no established lines for each of the eateries and the burger joint, was tucked back behind a dividing wall. If the intended design was with a food court layout in mind they should've modeled it after an airport or mall. I would describe it as an epic fail. Total there were maybe 50 small tables all crammed in a small area for the entire dining area. We weren't into $50 steaks at Dukes so this was all there was to offer. The gaming tables were all jammed in together in the center of the floor with slot machines randomly juxtapositioned between them. I didn't see anyone who was enjoying themselves...the staff, the bartenders or the patrons..People were buying three beers each and stocking up due to the 30 min wait. There were 3 machines for cashing in your vouchers, two were out of service bc they weren't replenished with money. The third, well, we waited for 10 mins in line and the folks in front of us inserted their voucher at which time the machine locked up as it also ran out of cash. They were held hostage at the machine until assistance arrived 10 mins later. We went to the cashier window...only 3 open out of about 8 Windows..yes, Grand Opening. If we didn't go with another couple we would've left before we became inviolved in the food court chaos. The Van Slyke bar was understaffed and complete chaos. They ran out of Corona, and certain liquors. Our barmaid was hustling and people were very rude to her bc they had to wait. There was no established line their either. People were pushing and shoving and people were angry..I didn't come here to stress out. A lot of thugs in the place. We overheard a young girl tell her boyfriend to push her up to the head of the line and she kept shoving my husband. I can see this place being a breeding ground for crime and a good place for the undesirables to hang out. I won't be returning..Turning Stone and Foxwoods are much classier establishments. The moral of the story is..Rivers has it figured out how yo take your money but isn't sure how to return your winnings. There was one GOOD THING about the evening. The band was terrificThe guys were dressed in ties, vests..business attire. Reminded me of a modern day "Beatles". They were from Utica...easy on the eyes and the ears. Confiscated my state drivers license saying "this is a fake, nice try bud," despite the fact that my military ID - which they agreed was real - corroborated all of the data on my drivers license. They refused to return my license for 5-10 minutes, before police were finally threatened because they were actively stealing my property, and they gave it back. I returned to Rivers Casino Schenectady in late October. I'm happy to say the plexiglass barriers around the craps tables and everywhere else have come down since June. I had not played there since March 2020. The atmosphere is more relaxed than a year ago. Security seems to have been stepped up; now customers must give a players card or driver's license before entering. They scan your card and wait momentarily for permission to enter. I don't mind this ; any method of keeping the riff raff numbers down are fine with me. read more

The amount of times I have had to fight with staff in order to get paid bonuses is ridiculous. Literally, had to decline them sayin I was wrong 3x over before they finally paid me out due to their error. The amount of times they have claimed I lost that fight when I make the same bets every time. Is ludicrous. If you aren't on top of your game, they will rob you. Never let your guard down because they certainly will take advantage of your lack of attention to make sure they don't pay you out what you deserve. I am a regular player at the Dice Tables and recently there is an obvious shortage of qualified help, Management response has been to limit the active tables to ONE and JAM the players together so there is barely room to move one's arms. While this is somewhat understandable, they have callously raised the Minimum bet to $15.00 from $10.00 so if you are placing several bets (common), one is required to put up an additional $30-$40 to keep the action going. This is very INCONSIDERATE to many of the regulars and prices us out! This is a poorly planned decision by Management so myself and other regulars will be bypassing the tables until such time the Higher Ups start making "SMARTER" decisions. The REGULAR players are the Major part of the Casino Revenue Stream so it makes no sense whatsoever to alienate us with such Poor Planning. read more

Tried the casino again because friends came from out of town. I don't agree with the low minimum bet tables only being available on weekday mornings. Who the hell wants to go to a casino at 9 am on a Tuesday!!!! I went to the casino twice this past weekend and NEVER was approached by a waitress. I talked with a variety of people and they all said they same thing. They never eat there, they never hear about anybody winning on the machines and they can never get a drink. The first thing I noticed as I walked into this casino was how relatively quiet it was despite the amount of patronage to this establishment. Quiet in the fact that you don't hear a whole lot of machines screaming JACKPOT! or excited WINNERS at the table games. The next time you are in Vegas or Reno, just walk in and listen and you'll see what I mean. Understanding that everyone can't win big, but an occasional winner semi-regularly can instill confidence and bring 'em back. I also watched the tables for awhile, mostly the roulette and despite the table checkered with player bets, short of playing odds/evens; red/black, I was completely amazed that during the whole time I was watching, the lack of winners. I mean seriously, short of the small pay outs, how the ball managed to dodge every single number a bet was placed. And there were a lot of players too b/c it was low buy in table, but the table wasn't crowded for every long. Actually it emptied out. So bottom line short of dropping a few dollars in the slots, I wouldn't play the tables here nor drop any significant amount of $$ in the machines. I know that every slot machine can be programmed for win or payout frequency and it's very obvious that the machines in this casino are VERY stingy (and that's an understatement). Keep in mind I've only been here a couple of times, but both times it's been the same observations and that same feeling. Just aint feelin' it. On the plus side, a nice clean casino and though you can't smoke in the premises like on the reservations in Washington, there's a nice outdoor smoking section, complete with slot machines. read more

I went to Rivers when they first opened. I even won $700 and got a tee shirt that they were promoting the casino. It was very nice and clean. The servers walked around offering drinks. I only play the slots and they payed out most of the time. Not always big money but I felt like I was winning something. Rivers closed down I believe a couple of months from Covid. After opening back up the slots were not paying out. I barely ever see a server and if you do they walk by so fast you miss them. I can sit on a machine and put $100 in and never get a bonus. I go once a week and spend anywhere from $100 to $150. Most days I'm done in a half of hour my money is gone.I don't expect to win all the time but I would like to play for a little while. I don't even enjoy playing the machines anymore. The place is getting dirtier and the chairs are ripped. read more

Had the experience of recently staying at their new hotel. It is anything but a "boutique" hotel. It is also not a resort. The hotel has ugly carpeting that looks badly worn, though the casino is new. There is no swimming pool either. The tiny selection of candy bars, soft drinks, etc. is available to hotel guests only. I have a walk-in closet in my bedroom that is larger! The overall quality barely exceeds that of a low rate motel such as Motel Six. My room was free. it was a standard King Size Room. It would have cost me roughly 3 times what it is worth, as the prices are way too high. Did I mention that the casino has no buffet (as per tradition) nor is there a gift shop or an all-night eatery.
