Played golf at Farmstead and really enjoyed the course. Very fair and the greens were in good…read moreshape...a tad on the slow side but similar to most public courses but much better than GD. The last hole is a par 6, over 700 yards from the tips. The green is over some water and marsh with a landing area front right. Was not sure what to expect but found the hole to be interesting and with a couple of good shots you can have a good chance at a birdie. The hole starts in South Carolina and ends in North Carolina.

The big problem was that the crew here heavily overbooked the tee times for this Day, and because of that playing this round was miserable for the first 10-12 holes. We ended up starting an hour late and finishing with at 5.75 hour round! At least the ranger was super nice given the situation. Make sure to check how many tee times there are before playing here, they definitely squeeze as much $$ out of the course as they can! Unfortunately we won't be coming back next year.

We booked a mid-morning tee-time on a Sunday during August, and were surprised at how much availability there was. For the uninitiated, this is the height of beach season, and all the surrounding beaches are full up. Most places rent from Saturday to Saturday, so I suppose us being willing to golf the very first full day "there" left most people enjoying their first day at the beach instead. Boy did they miss out, we were treated to 80 degree temperatures with low humidity, very very rare for this time of year. We also got to tee off on our own as a two-some, and the whole day, we mostly did not have to wait for anyone, nor did we have a group behind us. Literally a perfect day for golf. All the staff were laid back, starter was happy to let us go off whenever we were ready and avoid pairing us with another group. The course was in immaculate shape (we played Heron and Ibis), fitting the time of year. We did not see much in the way of areas needing repair. Lush fairways and trimmed rough. Sand traps (and there were many) all in good shape. Greens were fast, but, Fred Couples designed this course so that is probably intentional. The course isn't super long, much more of a premium on accuracy. I only used driver three times, mostly opting for hybrids or 3 wood. Carts were great, and the GPS on them was not the annoying kind that will shut your cart down without warning. We were visited three times for beverages on the course, and there were conveniently placed restrooms and water. All carts have a ball and clubhead washer on them, which was so convenient. After our round, we enjoyed lunch at the restaurant. Excellent service, prices were maybe just a smidge higher than area restaurants. I had their version of fish and chips. The fish was nicely breaded and plentiful, which was most important. Home chips and ranch were decent. The cole slaw it came with however, was completely inedible to my tastes. I have never seen more mayonnaise packed into cole slaw than this one. Kind of gross. My buddy got the club sandwich, which he described as "mid" so that could use improvement. Our waitress kept the tea refills coming, even though it was such a nice day, we were still hot and in need of refreshment after playing. Overall, we would absolutely come back to this course again, and will make it a priority to play each year.

I had high expectations of this course and it was a bit of a disappointment for the cost of $100…read moreper person. Fairways were well kept but the greens were in rough shape. They mentioned at check in that the greens had been punched 3 weeks prior so still had some sand on them. Most greens had patches on them I assume from loss during the winter. I feel like for the conditions the greens were in the price could have discounted some.

They also prepared all carts with wooden tees and water. Overall had a great time but the pace of play was horrible for the first 9. We got stuck behind a 2 groups and they were so slow. They've put so much time and money and hard work into this facility and golf courses especially BYRD. The Byrd course is in spectacular condition and only going to get better. To make things even better ,they have a fantastic beverage card attendant by the name of Betsy. You're not gonna find anyone better in the business ,than this young lady. We saw her frequently on the golf course and she was friendly and attentive. She even took time to do a picture with us to tease a friend lol. After our round, we stopped inside to the main bar area in the sports bar section. We met with our bartender Logan, who was extremely friendly and extremely knowledgeable about golf in the area ,as well as Bourbon's and the like . To say that this place is now a must hit venue would be an understatement. This will now be the legends of the north. The facilities for stay and play packages are going to be outstanding. And the restaurants and bars are beyond top-notch. If you're looking for somewhere to stay on a golf package look no further.

One of the main reasons we booked this place was for the pool, and these unreasonable hours completely ruined that experience. It feels like the owners care more about convenience than their guests. The fairways were not much better with whole areas of crabgrass growing in spots. The "Crow" pole in which your cart is not allowed past was sometimes almost 100 yards from the greens which means you had to walk back from the greens to shoot which slowed the pace of play. There was a starter on each of the sides, but there were no roving rangers to help control the pace of play. We were standing with "hands on hips" on almost every hole because they crammed too many tee times too close together and had twosomes playing behind numerous foursomes. We had two "club members" pushing us from behind while hitting into us even though we were being held up by players in front of us. There is no reason they should be charging as much as they do. Meadow Lands, Diamondback and Eastport are in much better shape and a better deal for the money.

Kelly is an amazing teacher!!! His ability to make the golf…read moreswing easy and repeatable is unmatched. I was using the range and listened as he helped a raw beginner start hitting the ball straight and far. His explanations were very easy to understand and the young lady he was helping was well on her way to enjoying golf now thanks to Kelly. I asked him for a tip, he without hesitation determined my swing flaw, gave me an easy correction and had me effortlessly hitting my hybrid straight and to the back woods. My wedges and irons became straight and easy. If you need a swing golf fix Kelly is your guy! The range is open all the time! The honor system still holds true at Pro-Tee golf range and I am thankful!!
