Very remote. Not fancy, but super friendly, solid WiFi, power, etc. Terrific for its location.

Umpqua Riverfront RV Park & Boat Ramp

Realistically the drive is 40 minutes off of I-5 or about an hour from the coast. This place is a…read morevacation destination for RV travelers who want swimming, tubing, and boat access to a river. A big plus is that the park is family-run by a husband/wife team who are very accommodating. They charge by the number of guests visiting but that covers the water, electricity that you will be using while there so I think that is fair. They offer clean restrooms and showers and a small laundry room (bring your quarters - $1.75 to wash/$2 to dry), plus a dog park, covered picnic pavilion, BBQ, and sink for cleaning fish. There is daily ice delivery for a small fee and the owner delivered a free cool treat to the kids (with parent's permission) one hot Saturday afternoon. It truly felt like we were in a rustic resort. The RV sites are lined up somewhat close to each other but offer enough room and privacy to make it comfortable. The park is very quiet and you will find it silent at night. You will not find tent camping here, nor will you find long-term RV tenants. The grounds are clean and rustic but well kept. We met many nice families, many who are locals who visit this park to get away from their coastal towns. The river access is by rocky boat ramp, though a rustic dirt path that lead down to the river, or by another boat ramp that was unpaved. The river had shallow rocks to sit on and sunbathe or wade out around and was deeper in the center. Small kids could play, find tadpoles, fish, swim, or kayak safely near the shore. We also noticed a few adults fishing too. It was fun playing on the river and the owners have a few tubes and kayaks to use but I recommend you bring your own river "toys" to guarantee you have what you need for your enjoyment. Also there are no close-by stores, so pack up all the food and supplies that you need for your trip and prepare to be off the grid for your visit. There is no camp store or café on site. Spotty cell reception only allowed us to receive and send a few texts. As others have said, do not expect Wi-Fi or cable here. Overall, two nights were not enough as we had such a good time on the river. If it wasn't so far away from home, we would definitely make this a regular summer destination.

We rented the cabin as relatives stayed in the RV park and had the best time which was aided by the owner, who was super helpful. The cabin is isolated from the rv's in an open field next to some shady trees. It features four twin beds (2 up in a loft). There is a couple of chairs, shelfs, a heater, a usb port for mild charging, a swing on the porch a gas bbq and a firepit with some wood and kindling. They thoughtfully provide a few odds and ends such as lighter fluid, briquets and bug spray (that was not needed). It's clean and functional and perfect for a weekend of roughing it, without sleeping on the ground. The owner called it a tent when we booked it, which is not the case. I'm sure he was setting our expectations so not to expect a standard motel accommodation. It was plenty warm at night and all the windows captured the breeze in the day. Also, bring your own pillows and sleeping bags. The only negative is the bathroom which is an outhouse across the field. The normal bathrooms with showers are about a 3 minute walk into the RV park. They are very clean and the hot water just keeps coming! This is where there is a laundry room (don't forget to bring quarters) and a great fish cleaning sink. Once again, they provided some helpful stuff here. The RV spots are pull through with a picnic table and a full hookups overlooking the river. This proximity cannot be understated as it is beautiful. It is quiet as well, great place to get your fish gear together and watch the running water. There is no separation between the spots, so friendly conversations with your neighbor is a sure bet. There is a lighted common picnic area and shade cover with a bbq provided as well as a corn-hole pitch game. We are planning on coming back next year with a large group and using this as a gathering place. Plenty of safe areas for kids to swim as well as great fishing. Our group caught a load of fish the first day from canoes. I think there is some equipment you can rent here. There is a small boat launch and ample parking for day guest. Our large group cannot say enough good things about the hands-on owner of the resort. He comes by occasionally to check that all is well. He provided river whistles (a requirement when tubing in Oregon) and a couple of life jackets as we ran short. We understand the prior owner was more laid back and some of the camp got run down. That is not the case now, as everything was in great shape. By the way, cell services is really spotty here, so don't plan on being connected to your social media. Just enjoy the river.

The check in was easy, our host attendant , gave us clear instructions to our airstream. We were a bit confused the first day and evening about how to contact someone after hours. I kept getting the bot when I went on to the website. Finally when I googled Bay Point Landing General store, I found that part of the site. From then on it was a breeze to getting help. The airstream was well stocked. Dishware, glasses, utensils, cookware and cooking utensils. Linens were clean, we even had lovely doggy baskets for our pups. Complete with towels, dishes, treats, leashes and sheets to cover bed and sofa. They have activities everyday to attend. We did the happy hour the first night, it was very nice sitting looking over the water and enjoying a glass or two of wine. I was grateful for the broom that was in the airstream, sweep out the RV multiple times a day. The airstream comes with dish rags and dishes towels, but no dish soap you can purchase that at the General store. This is not glamping, as some reviews seemed to think. But it is a step above RVing in a state park. There are nice amenities and can make as many improvements as you want, but they cost. We were happy with the close proximity to the state parks, restaurants and grocery stores. We look forward to our next stay at Bay Point Landing.
