i Went to the Winter Dance Party on Sat. Jan 24, 2026 and I want to say it was ten times better than two y ears ago . The new owners gave those of us who go there to dance and mingle a bigger dance floor. Two years ago it was mostly all tables of people sitting all night and those that want to dance had no room To move We were in a sardine can . Now ,last night we all had room and it was stress free , fun and a great event. I went even though it was freezing out because that event is a guaranteed good happy time . the people are so nice. the new owners are very polite and nice . More and more young people are showing up dressed in 50s style even little kids. the most memorable thing i saw was a dad up front dancing wit h his lil daughter teaching her the steps. And they were both dressed 50s style. Richie Valens has energy to burn and The Big Boppper is such a unique fun person and he had zebra shoes to match his zebra coat jacket. and of course Buddy Holly looked and sang so real I though the was the real deal . We went to check this out bc it's the second to last venue for the Winter Dance Party in 1959 and it more than exceeded our expectations. From the parking lot, there was a memorial to Buddy, The Big Bopper, and Richie. We tried to get in but the doors were locked. We were so disappointed until the employees saw us and let us in. That's where the magic happened! There were memorabilia and the owner gave us a private tour. He was so kind to let us go backstage and stand where Buddy performed. It was more than we expected and it made a life long dream come true to get a close up look and hear the history. They are genuinely such nice people and the ballroom is very cool and stays true to its originality. Thank you so much! Definitely check it out. read more

Wasn't impressed with the event ticket process, but I think that was on the promoters not the venue. Decor is from what era? Definitely needs some fresh paint & sprucing up. Riverside Ballroom is old and apparently a land mark in Green Bay, but being old in this case is not a negative, in fact it is part of the charm. Riverside is very much an old school dance hall and the decor reflects that; old school bar/stools, dance floor, chandeliers and the stage. I hope they never change the decor because it is part of the history and what makes it unique. Being a music lover, the fact that I was walking in the same place Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and the Big Bopper walked and preformed in, shortly before their untimely and tragic deaths, made me appreciate the history even more(yes, I am a dork). I am not a fan of the traditional Green Bay family style chicken dinners places like this typically serve so I probably would not book an event there, but if you like that, you will love Riverside. We happened to be there for a retirement party, large group of retirees from the same place, because about 40 people that had not RSVP'd ended up showing up, there was not enough seating, or food ready. This is where my 5 star review comes in, service! The owner came out and apologized (for something that was not his fault) for dinner being delayed, it was only delayed 15 minutes maximum, his staff very quickly had additional tables and seating for 50 set up and ready to go. Even though there were only two bartenders, they provided great service, were friendly, and got drinks to us quickly. As far as the food, they somehow managed to get food out to all the tables at the about the same time, even with the unexpected guests, and it was hot and refilled quickly when dishes were close to being empty, we never had to ask for anything. Even not being a fan of this type of thing, I have to say the chicken was fantastic, hot, juicy inside, crispy outside and not at all greasy. I could have taken boxes of that home. If you don't live in WI you may never have heard of a pastry called a knee cap, but if Riverside is not famous for the ones they serves last night they should be. Last night could have been a disaster for Riverside yet the owner and staff were able to provide a great experience for the attendees with barely a glitch. Customer service is huge for me and I was so impressed with the level provided, thanks to all. read more

Sunday stopped in for a fundraiser. I really love this little venue. It is pretty inside and plenty of space for weddings, parties etc. I have actually been here for a couple concerts as well. It has plenty of bathrooms and I recently found out a ton of parking out back. Two giant bars fIank the room. I only wish they had a better sound system to offer better options for people. I would recommend if you want a classic venue. read more

Attended the Preble Football Banquet here. It is a big hall that was great for this event and could be great for weddings, reunions, etc. we were served family style chicken dinner and was it delicious. I was quite surprised it was that good. No complaints here. read more

We had our wedding reception here in the Crystal Ballroom earlier this month. I'm so glad we decided to go with with Riverside Ballroom, they were so easy to work with and so accommodating! There was a wedding in our room the night before so we weren't able to setup the night before, which they usually allow. However, since we didn't have that option, Riverside allowed us to drop off everything for the reception anytime throughout the week prior. We had created our own centerpieces which needed to be filled with water, then a floating candle needed to be placed on top and lit. All we had to do was drop them off in boxes and label them for which ones were for the head table and which ones went on guest tables... they set them up for us the day of our wedding for no extra charge! We also dropped off several other things like the card box, party favors, photos, bar signs, cake flavor signs, etc. and again, just need to label what went where. They handled the rest. It really took a lot off our shoulders. As it got closer to Saturday we just had less and less to worry about, which is an amazing feeling after all the wedding stress leading up to the big day! I would highly recommend any event at this venue. We even had some strange requests like throwing fake flower petals during the bouquet toss. We offered to sweep them up directly after (which we did), but they had absolutely no problem with it and were ready with the broom we requested right when we needed it. The food was great, served warm, and every table had their food within minutes of the first server appearing. We had almost 300 guests, so that was very impressive! They seem to have a good relationship with several vendors in the area, so everything worked out so smoothly with the cake delivery and DJ... I had nothing to worry about all day with Riverside! The shuttle options from 3 different hotels was a great benefit as well. Perfect for out-of-town guests, which we had a lot of since we live in San Diego. Needless to say, planning from afar was not an issue. read more

We recently had our wedding at the Riverside Ballroom in the Carriage Room and it was a wonderful experience. They went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding was beautiful! We had the plated dinners and they were to die for - the food was amazing! Also, we had preplated desserts and they distributed them to our guests rather than having our guests have to go get their own dessert, it was so much nicer than having all the guests get up at once for dessert. Ken is wonderful to work with, he will make sure that any of your little requests are fulfilled to make your wedding less stress and perfect! There is nothing I would change, the Riverside Ballroom is the best venue to hold your wedding - or any event - so if you are thinking of choosing Riverside - Book it now!! read more

Attended a wedding here last weekend. The security officer at the door was a turn off. I giggled with my husband what a way to make an impression of the facility if they have to hire security. The ballroom is very pretty. The food was served family style. The first plate of chicken we received was all wings. We quickly asked for another plate of chicken, since 1 wing per person wasn't enough. the chicken wasn't very good, it was gummy and weird. We were served 5 knee-caps, even though we had 7 at our table. The bar was a cash -bar only. The registers are ancient so they have no way of scanning a debit card to start a tab. They do provide an ATM with a 5.00 fee though. The DJ for the wedding was set up on a stage high above the dance floor. So the guests didn't get to experience the light show on the dance floor and if you had a request it was a good hike. Toward the end of the night, a flower vendor came into the wedding and was trying to sell roses to everyone. Of course, the security guard wasn't at the door when she came in, so a bartender shooed her out. I just wouldn't recommend this place for a wedding- the whole cash bar thing is inconvenient to your guests, the food wasn't good, and apparently its not in a good neighborhood! read more
